I think he's worth a minor leaguer with a bit of upside that doesn't take up a spot on the 40-man.

QUOTE(Spod=Ratings @ Mar 5, 2008 -> 04:16 PM) No, one is a shoe in for the Hall-a-Fame the other is someone who runs from the scene of accidents, threatens to hold out, says he will never play for a team again, and then signs a multi year deal with that same team. I love it when feeding the fire works -
QUOTE(IowaSoxFan @ Mar 5, 2008 -> 03:06 PM) You can move OCab, Konerko, Thome, AJ, Vazquez and Dye and probably finish no further down in the standings than we will by keeping them. The problem is that we have to find someone who has a whole at these positions in order to make deals and then try to get some quality talent back. A lineup of LF Owens SS Ramirez 1B Swisher DH Fields RF Quentin 3B Crede CF Anderson C Lucy 2B Richar Would be frustrating, but good enough to finish fourth or fifth in the division, and would have potential to grow into something, and hopefully the players that you would get back would provide some depth in the farm system and pick up some additional pitching as well to go along with MB and Danks. If the Sox put that on the field, I have absolute full confidence in saying they'd lose 110 games. And it's really funny that you'd like to move everyone, yet you'd keep Crede. That makes sense, sure.

QUOTE(SoxWS05 @ Mar 5, 2008 -> 12:53 PM) Hmmm....And why wouldn't you want the better player starting? If he's here, he's starting and Fields will be at AAA. Because Crede sucks
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 5, 2008 -> 02:25 AM) No. Well it's real simple. No, he's not being considered by the White Sox, but yes, he is being considered by other teams. So if he wants to play in the majors, he better keep playing well.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 5, 2008 -> 12:54 AM) As a republican this is great. The best result would be if Obama comes out with more delegates. Michigan and Florida are not seated, and Clinton uses the superdelegates to topple the will of the dem party. That would clear a way for McCain to the whitehouse. I am still amazed on how goofy liberal Clinton, the wife of the man who was weak on defense for 8 years, is now a tough person you want in a time of war. Maybe she can learn from her husband and blow up a tent in the middle of the desert with a 2 million dollar Tomahawk Cruise Missle. Her on the job training was sleeping next to the president for 8 years. Maybe she received the knowledge via Osmosis. agreed wholeheartedly

QUOTE(lostfan @ Mar 4, 2008 -> 10:31 PM) I suppose you could count Fields if you wanted to stretch it. Not when Crede should be on a different team come mid March

Report: Brett Favre to retire

QUOTE(SoxAce @ Mar 4, 2008 -> 10:09 PM) Seriously I would LOVE to see Manning and Brady do it in different systems (esp. Brady who is considered a system QB, Manning, IMO, is legit.) I hate Favre, but he made lots of nothing into something (shuffle passes, throwin balls where no QB would ever consider throwing, even if it's INT) He was a hellova QB. I'm just really curious to hear the reasoning as to why Brady is a system QB and Manning isn't. I've never understood it, and never will. You show me which system teaches you to hold on to the ball until the last possible second and then still making a good, strong, accurate throw, and I'll believe it. -

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Mar 4, 2008 -> 09:44 AM) Because he understands like any other smart person that Danny Richar sucks? Seriously, I hate "trade ideas" that have no backing, but Danny Richar is not legitimate. You don't know that. You believe that, but you don't know. Just because Danny Richar pissed in your cheerios everday doesn't mean mine taste like piss too. Seriously, Richar hit f***ing .350 when he got to Charlotte last year; how can you say he sucks? And pissing in your cheerios doesn't count as a reason. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Mar 4, 2008 -> 10:14 AM) It's unlikely that Quentin and Richar will ever have a .750 OPS in the majors. Quentin is getting beaten out for LF by Owens pretty handily at this point so I don't see him having much of a future with the 2008 Sox. If the Sox could deal Floyd, Quentin, and Richar for Roberts they should make that trade. Of the guys they would be trading, only Floyd would be expected to see much time with the Sox in 2008, and it's open for debate if he would actually be better than someone like Egbert anyway. I don't know if I'd say Quentin is getting beaten out of LF by Owens but rather has just come to the wrong situation, one where the manager feels it absolutely necessary to have a speedy player at the top of the order for whatever reason. I just don't think Brian Roberts is that good, and I don't think the Sox would trade their top two offensive prospects for him, which is indirectly what they are doing by making such a move, along with moving a potential rubber armed 5th starter. I think you are buying high on a player who was mentioned in the Mitchell Report, and I don't think you are making a good move for the short-term nor long-term of the organization.

QUOTE(SoxPride56 @ Mar 4, 2008 -> 08:49 AM) No need to be sorry LOL. Let's just all agree, he was one hell of a quarterback! To bad his last pass ever is going to be an INT. I would have expected that to be his last pass. That's the way he played. Cheers to one hell of a career, and the ultimate iron man. -
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 4, 2008 -> 12:40 AM) How exactly do you twist a testicle anyways? I've never heard of that one before, and I hope I never experience it. Here's a start

QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Mar 3, 2008 -> 10:19 PM) If the Sox trade Crede just for the sake of doing it I say shame on KW. Lowry is not equal to Crede. I think we need to keep Joe and also Fields who could step in for Konerko or Thome in a year or so. Think future here. the fact that you are suggesting to replace Konerko or Thome with Crede is insulting to those two

I've put in like 120+ hours into Oblivion, and I've explored maybe a third of the entire world. I do have all 50 achievements, but I don't have the GOTY addition with the two add-ons. I'll get that when I go home for break in about 10 days.

QUOTE(BigEdWalsh @ Mar 3, 2008 -> 11:48 AM) Has there been any speculation on what the Flubs would give up? You don't get a player like Roberts for garbage. Although, if I recall they got Aramis Ramírez for next to nothing. :fthecubs The Cubs would also take Jay Payton from the Orioles. They'd give up Marshall, Gallagher, Cedeno, and Murton.
-
why on earth would you give up 2 legitimate young position players for a 2Bman who is 30 and doesn't put the Sox over the top? Seriously, I'd venture to guess that Quentin will outproduce Roberts this year (and will easily outproduce Owens) and I wouldn't put it out of the realm of possibility that Danny Richar could outproduce him too. People make Roberts out to be some kind of god, when really he's only a year removed from a .750 OPS. Sure he steals bases, and those are sexy, but they aren't necessary to win. I just really want the Cubs to trade for Roberts already so these threads can stop coming up.
