I think he's worth a minor leaguer with a bit of upside that doesn't take up a spot on the 40-man.

I just don't think Brian Roberts is that good, and I don't think the Sox would trade their top two offensive prospects for him, which is indirectly what they are doing by making such a move, along with moving a potential rubber armed 5th starter. I think you are buying high on a player who was mentioned in the Mitchell Report, and I don't think you are making a good move for the short-term nor long-term of the organization.

why on earth would you give up 2 legitimate young position players for a 2Bman who is 30 and doesn't put the Sox over the top? Seriously, I'd venture to guess that Quentin will outproduce Roberts this year (and will easily outproduce Owens) and I wouldn't put it out of the realm of possibility that Danny Richar could outproduce him too. People make Roberts out to be some kind of god, when really he's only a year removed from a .750 OPS. Sure he steals bases, and those are sexy, but they aren't necessary to win. I just really want the Cubs to trade for Roberts already so these threads can stop coming up.
