  1. 2000/03/06/08 and 2020/21 will be the closest.
  2. Same goes for the GM…
  3. https://www.amazon.com/Cardboard-Gods-All-American-Through-Baseball/dp/1934734160 Read this book and tell me if you think Schiffren actually loves baseball, is at heart something he’s obsessed with or if it’s something he’s just grown to appreciate as part of his job? You have to enjoy the sport AND be good at the art of broadcasting to be truly great. Otherwise it can come across as disingenuous…like all the “beefs” we’ve had to put up with the last two years. As far as privilege goes…that’s a tough one. Maybe fortunate is the better word. Obama, for example, lost a parent, grew up in a third world country to an extent, but also had a grandparent who invested her savings and belief in him attending the elite Punahou School in Hawaii. Without that, he wouldn’t have been able to attend Occidental, Columbia and eventually HLS. So perhaps having 1-2 family members believing in you and supporting you all along the way is another definition of privilege. (When I taught in Colombia, we agreed it was having a US passport and the ability to go anywhere in the world as a traveler/tourist.) And, to be honest, have watched so few Sox games the last two years (usually radio because of Wi-Fi speeds) that it didn’t even come across my thinking that he was bi-racial, which is/was my mistake.
  4. I'm watching the Taiwanese broadcast on ELTA-1. Probably only available through mlb.com GameDay. Not sure if Japanese stadiums normally track ev's or not, but probably enabled for wbc at least.
  5. EV was about what you'd expect not sure if he broke his bat...inside out swing
  6. starting in tokyo Taiwan australia bazzana grounder to first mead single to RF over 2b mead popped up in second at bat 0-0 top 5 Dome baseball without offense or crowd really into it for early game w/o Japan or Korea quite boring finally some offense Robbie Perkins goes out to RCF after hbp 2-0 Australia Perkins HR leader in ABL, Wingrove also up there on list Bazzana and Mead k'd in third at bats former Brewers catcher Dave Nilsson managing AUST Bazzana killed one...line pull to RF line 3-0 Aussies Mead pulled a ball through 3B should be an error play that 90% of big leaguers make

  8. Who was erroneously empowered by JR...with another effect being Fisk going into the HoF as a Red Sox despite more time in Chicago.
  9. Just looked up the numbers...Syracuse is much more expensive than I remembered from the 90s. Dartmouth at $91k net sounds...well, that's a debate for another day.
  10. Can add Terry Francona and Jim Leyland as well. Dombrowski...
  11. With the AL Central...pretty much guaranteed an interesting regular season with their spending and also less travel. Most of his BB work is in the Midwest, but football he could be anywhere the Fox #2 team goes, mostly Big 12 this past season. Probably less travel, closer to blue collar roots...he doesn't strike me as an East/West coast guy but money can change anyone a bit. Maybe as he gets older he will prioritize a better weather city...without the brutal winters. Ofc he can go anywhere during those months depending on his work schedule.
  12. He was also (Schiffren) privileged enough to attend Dartmouth or a similarly elite East Coast school...
  13. Antonacci playing? Will see Meade this morning against Chinese Taipei .
  14. Whereas Sciambi blends in doing college bb and you hardly recognize his call unless they show him during breaks in the action...different style entirely. Not nearly so many jokes or attempts at humor...which can be Benetti's undoing in bad baseball games at times...but doesn't intrude so much into college BB and football. And he worked his way up from bottom too...remember when Benetti was calling an Appalachian State game once and I stopped to listen because his call is so distinctive. Does well with Bill Rafferty and Brock Huard.
  15. Julks and Pilkington appearing for the Tigers in the DR...Jimmy Cordero closing first DR today. At 97. Nasty slider for a K. And a blown lead lol. 4-3. Was 3-1 DR over DET into the 9th. Gage Workman part of the rally. Seth Stephenson two out two strike two run single off Cordero. DR won yesterday fwiw.
  16. Colorado? Or their veteran signings push them ahead? https://blogs.fangraphs.com/fangraphs-power-rankings-spring-training-2026-no-18-30/ Nationals Cardinals A's also in the running....for the bottom.
  17. 2 1/2 years…
  18. That was a 5/1 roster projection. 6/1 or 7/1 seems much more likely…or at least possible. Same with Braden…but still rushing him a bit.
  19. https://www.si.com/mlb/red-sox/onsi/boston-red-sox-news/masataka-yoshida-causes-stir-among-red-sox-fans-with-team-japan-blast-jackson3 Benintendi goes home again to Boston and Yoshida gets a defined role with the White Sox. Boston would need to send $8-10 million along to balance the risk. Article is an overreaction to one good exhibition game in a friendly environment. Should be also panic if Murakami and Ohtani went hitless for two games? Probably not.
  20. He’s probably worth the potential of a 3 starter right now…but not an established big leaguer, an imperfect prospect like a Sean Burke. Would the White Sox even offer Shane Smith for him if Quero was with another organization…? Not so sure about that. Guess it would depend on how badly they needed a catcher. The problem is a contender probably wouldn’t install Quero as the 60-65% starter until he’s more proven as a backstop and also in the power hitting dept. Spring numbers in hitter friendly AZ are often deceiving. Look at the AFL historically compared to what those prospects actually do in the majors.
  21. Maybe he should put out a White Sox trade half their roster for Skubal article... There has been at least 20-30 proposed Skubal trade articles the last months. Most of them at least more realistically pair him with the Dodgers.
  22. Except former first round draft picks never die...especially in the Sox system. See Kelenic. Sox probably lead MLB in former Top 100 prospects since 2016/17 to hit their roster from other organizations.
  23. McDougal is the one to watch out for IMO. Big jump for S.Burke and fall for Martin. We don't know anything about Pereira yet other than his minor league track record and prospect pedigree. Seems like wishful thinking that Benintendi will sit on the bench for at least a year and a half.
  24. Kind of sad that as limited an xb hitter as Bergolla has the best hit tool. Most scouts would consign him to the utility infielder folder.
  25. You know better than to judge a pitcher by one single appearance in AZ of all places...might as well be Charlotte. Is Clevinger going to win the By Young with Pitt since he hasn't allowed a run this spring in Florida?
