  1. Yoshida has really come back down to earth, and fWAR is always going to kill him for his defense in front of the Green Monster... 0.7 fWAR, 803 OPS Benintendi 0.3 fWAR, 700 OPS Seiya Suzuki 2.6 fWAR, 812 OPS
  2. Mariners have lost 4 in a row. George Kirby controversy. It's now or never for Kelenic.
  3. The KW led to the only WS win since 1917, but apparently only Chris Getz of all people has figured out how to develop a championship-caliber team during those forty-two years or whatever. If they're all playing the game the right way, shouldn't there be a clear indicator of results...even if it's not strictly measured by wins and losses at the minor league level?
  4. Went to Cal Berkeley. Maybe those Stanford guys thought he could figure everything out on his own. Crazy that he basically got pushed out in 2014 in favor of giving playing time to Gordon Beckham, Alexei Ramirez and Conor Gillaspie. Ugh....
  5. https://www.fangraphs.com/players/james-mccann/12859/stats?position=C Up to a 0.7 fwar with the Os now. That's like a star for the war-deprived Sox.
  6. Utah isnt going anywhere without Rising. They easily could have lost this past weekend. Would expect more out of Washington or Oregon.
  7. Well with Bama down...along with Clemson, might be time for a return to FSU and Miami. Not sure if anyone looks poised to break up that SEC monopoly...certainly not a B10 team. The media will continue to play up Colorado until/unless they've lost to Oregon Wash USC.
  8. Good weekend to choose with all the focus on football...Sox/Detroit must have been the very last option for anyone paying any attention to the sports landscape.
  9. Kirk Herbstreit only successful OSU QB post college years...
  10. Almost fear sorrier for Bears' fans to deal with almost boundless optimism for months and months and now this. Sox fans by and large were pretty realistic having them at mired in mediocrity instead of 33 games below .500 and mired in misery instead. Plus there's always dreams of 1-1 draft picks to sustain one's interest in football. Don't even have that now.
  11. If he's not able to handle High A by the end of next season...
  12. Then they'll just say Hahn and Getz wanted to keep him but were overruled by KW and JR...
  13. It was a homecoming for Giolito, who’s from Santa Monica, but his time with the Angels spanned just six starts. He had a 1-5 record , 6.89 earned-run average and .258 opponents batting average. He blamed himself for the underwhelming performances while crediting the Angels pitching, analytics and biomechanics staffs for helping him make quick adjustments that he said improved his velocity and the ride on his fastball. “They did everything in their power to help me be as successful as possible,” Giolito said. “I didn't get the job done. It's unfortunate how that played out, but it's part of the game. You move on and just try and stay present. Like right now, I'm here and I want to finish strong for [the Guardians] and do everything I can to help give us a chance to sneak into the playoffs.” yahoo.com/sports
  14. https://sports.yahoo.com/mlb-rebuild-rankings-2023-which-teams-will-look-back-on-this-season-as-the-start-of-something-better-195940792.html Ahead of KC and A's. Getz decision second-guessed, not surprisingly.
  15. You're willing to bet your house he will put up a 775 ops next year when his future contract situation will finally be in doubt? Other than getting rid of that contract and possibly getting something in trade return like Eder...he's irrelevant to the Sox future.
  16. Moncada is the new Burger. 261 Beating Benintendi in OPS 721 to 696 756 career ops
  17. Of course our best pitcher is one of the 3-5 most unlikeable in baseball and has that annoying "ants in his pants" nervous pre delivery routine.
  18. 2006 Twins down the stretch with Liriano and Santana and that lockdown bullpen were like kryptonite to Sox...
  19. The Rangers are really struggling down the stretch here in the face of the Mariners/Astros onslaught but hard not to consider this season to be successful overall considering the 2022 record.

  21. Slight difference in the price tags but point taken. Marlins wouldn't have been able to afford him without Sox subsidizing 75-80% of the cost.
  22. That's one of the benefits of watching Korean dramas ever since we were forced inside for months and months during Covid....even the first semester last school year. You're only committed for 12-16 episodes...and you can always stop at any point and there's so much material and so many diverse genres that weekends which used to be dedicated to Sox baseball can be filled with something much less predictable and usually more enjoyable to boot.
