  1. Did you forget who the owner of this team is? He has a chance to eliminate $20M off the books for a player who is in no way shape or form earning that salary. Its not my money, I dont care about it, but I understand the man who DOES care about it.
  2. This checks out, honestly before the 2016 tear down I can't really remember a time where the Sox weren't "going for it" so to speak. 2016 and then 2024 are really the only tear downs I can even recall in my lifetime as a fan
  3. The problem with keeping Robert is you are essentially making a $20M gamble. He not only will need to stay healthy, but he will also need to produce like he used to several years ago now. If there are no offers at all right now for him as a cheap rental, you aren't getting any offers when he's a $20M rental in the offseason which at that point you are now hoping he has an incredible first half. Then you are still facing the reality of trying to trade a rental OFer which as you have seen today isn't worth dick. I still do not see anyway they exercise this option. It makes zero financial sense for the organization.
  4. I think the criticism is they asked for the moon and the other team went somewhere else and never came back, although this hasn't been proven to be true yet.
  5. Yes, its tough but just need to be patient. I just can't believe they don't move anyone else, there's no way.
  6. If they don't trade Robert, keep Tauchman, and then extend Houser, im going to have to seriously question how much longer I can follow this dumpster fire.
  7. Just got a wonderful ESPN notification that the Sox appear unlikely to trade Robert now.
  8. Would be nice to see Cease traded and then the Padres use some of that capital to get Houser and Robert from us.
  9. Yes, the plan where they traded for Kimbrel and he was dreadful so they picked up the option expecting to flip him for something to recoup their value and ended up just swapping him out for another high priced bad player.
  10. Just totally braindead if that's what happens. You trade him for ANYTHING if this is the plan.
  11. Im just picturing a scenario where they don't trade Robert and then he gets his option declined in the offseason.
  12. I have no idea, but it would indicate there may have been something there if they said the Blue Jays were discussing Houser and then they actually do end up trading for a starting pitcher.
  13. Could that be because the Sox had an unrealistic ask so they pivoted to Bieber?
  14. I certainly hope so, because getting something nice for pulling him off the scrap heap would be a huge win. I think its concerning that report that said the Red Sox would prefer Civale over Houser. Like, what?
  15. Suarez is a 34 year old rental player, I think the return is fine.
  16. Shane Bieber has thrown 12 MLB innings since 2023, if he can net a Top 5 organizational prospect I sure hope they can get a solid return for Houser.
  17. Andrew Benintendi is one of the reason why this team is bad. He has been worth negative value in his Sox career, which means he is hurting this team or preventing them from winning more games. As someone who cares so deeply about winning games, you should want him off this team as well.
  18. Buddy this team is 29 games under .500 and the second worst team in baseball, I don't understand how else to explain to you that the only thing that matters right now is developing the talent that is going to make this team competitive again, in the future, because it isn't going to be this season or even next season. Wins will matter when this team is competitive again, try to see the big picture here.
  19. Wins don't matter right now, the only thing that matters is the development of the kids on this team.
  20. I won't argue that, but then again I have no idea what its like to be a fan of a team that demands excellence.
  21. The Yankees are 4 games out of first and hold the top wildcard spot, they're in the playoff picture every year. Those teams don't give two shits about trading their 18th ranked prospect to bolster their roster for a playoff run. Meanwhile, the White Sox trade a top 10 organizational prospect for a 26 year old no ceiling OFer coming off a 101 loss season. In what world should any Sox fan be shading the Yankees for attempting to upgrade their playoff caliber roster?
  22. On the flip side, when your in the race you can afford to send your 18th best prospect to a garbage team to get a platoon guy that could help you win a World Series.
  23. You get a 22 year old SP prospect for a dumpster dive signing, A+ in my book. I would have figured he was more likely to be DFA'd than used to get a pitching prospect if I was betting before the season started.
  24. Yeah it looks more likely they wont trade Tauchman, which is hopefully because no one is interested or else I think that's just foolish. You can sign a cheap veteran to give a leadership presence in the offseason if you need it that much.
