  1. This team hasn't even had more than 1 offensive player have more than 2 WAR going on three full seasons now, if we end up getting 3 everyday players putting up a combined WAR in the range of 8-10 from trading away 1 player that had no shot at being here long term that is a major win. Again, that needs to happen first before we celebrate but so far its looking really good.
  2. Nah, he’s baseball dumb. He’s perfectly fine for right now but I don’t see anything special there and we have more promising players to give at bats to.
  3. Yeah but, again, the Sox were never going to keep him so getting 3 players that they control for 6 years that can put up a combined 5-6-7 WAR is gold to them. They wont sign a player that can do that by themselves. In a perfect world, they just extend him and he's here forever.
  4. That's the problem, there isn't. Sosa is just not very valuable as a player and I hope they can trade him in the offseason if some team becomes enamored with him. I would rather see Vargas, Montgomery, Meidroth, Mead get the bulk of the playing time moving forward into the future.
  5. A 3+ WAR OF, a 2+ WAR catcher, and a 1-2 WAR utility IF would be an excellent return for a pitcher you were never going to sign and keep around. Obviously, this requires Montgomery to hold up his end of the deal. If Montgomery flames out and Teel floats between 1-2 war at peak, then yeah that's a pretty bad trade.
  6. That's still really bad...
  7. Vaughn and Palacios combining for - 3 bWAR certainly didn't help and getting them off the team was addition by subtraction. They had a nice little streak after the break where they score 10+ runs in 4/7 games but since then they have pretty much looked like the same team they were before the break offensively. I agree with you, it's definitely a positive but I don't know how anyone can look at this lineup and say with a straight face our everyday lineup is good (Doesn't mean they wont be good eventually). We'll be lucky if any of these guys finish with more than 2 bWAR and that's just where you get starter worthy value. If your entire lineup produces at substitute levels, you don't have a good lineup.
  8. Average: 30th OBP: 29th Slugging: 29th OPS: 29th Reminder, there are only 30 teams in the league. So no, the lineup isn't good Greg.
  9. The hope I have here is that they just have him working on things opposed to results, which to me is perfectly fine for someone you are trying to develop. You're right, in the grand scheme of things Schultz going 15-3 with a 2.50 ERA in the minors means absolutely nothing. If he can develop what he is going to need to be successful at the major league level, that is the most important thing of all. I really won't care if he has an ERA of 10.00 in Charlotte if he comes up to Chicago and is a competent rotation piece with great potential. I hope its like Colson, where he looked dead in the water in the minor leagues but once they get him onto the MLB roster we see vastly different results.
  10. That was an absolutely ridiculous trade for the situation the Sox were in.
  11. Yelich is still somewhere between a 2.5 - 3.5 bWAR player Once this season comes to a close, the White Sox will most likely finish the last 3 seasons with exactly 1 offensive player having more than 2 bWAR and that was Robert in 2023! Tauchman has exactly 2 right now, so he MAY hold it, but either way this is absolutely pathetic.
  12. This farm system lacks anything resembling star power, outside of maybe Braden Montgomery. Its no surprise to see them around the middle. They have some nice looking players, but no one that's going to be a game changer. It also didn't help that Schultz, Montgomery, and Smith all have/had the arrow pointing down so far this season.
  13. If he finishes the year hitting .220 with a .650 OPS I just don't understand how you can pick up that option and make a $20M gamble he will revert back to what he was 2 years ago which seems like ages ago at this point.
  14. lol I know you meant Benny's but I definitely did not read it like that.
  15. Did anyone ever say that? All I remember Getz saying was "we anticipate having him here" which to me doesn't mean for sure anything
  16. He heaps praise on everything, even when everything’s going horribly. It’s one of the reasons he’s so annoying.
  17. Can’t wait for the Sox to score 2 meaningless runs late and lose 8-2 so Schriffen can tell us this team is different than last year.
  18. Even if its a troll, it has jinxed the team pretty much every time one of these get posted.
  19. This is like the third moronic thread this year started after the team played well for a stretch and the Sox almost immediately went into a tailspin after each one.
  20. They did an excellent job with it. Once his music hit, and he came out on the crutches with Heyman I thought it was just a tease but man they delivered. As far as Brock goes, I haven't looked into that since it initially came up but I thought he basically didn't do anything and nothing ever happened physically involving him, only allegations that never ended up happening anyways.
  21. These lineups are such ass. I don't get the thought process. Tauchman Quero Robert Montgomery Sosa Benintendi Mead Baldwin Taylor Its not that hard.
  22. A lot of things had to go right. If you would have said Teel, Quero, Montgomery and to an extent Meidroth would all get called up and be pretty good I wouldn’t have believed it. What we got from Houser and most of Smiths first half, wouldn’t have believed it either. So I think I wouldn’t have changed what I thought, I just didn’t see how they would be better and it looks like the answer was a bunch of things I would have never believed possible anyways.
  23. I said that. There were some others as well.
  24. Yeah I was just sweating my ass off, I wasn’t use to it because going to games in Houston the roof is always closed so it’s never an issue.
  25. Its not bad for being old as s%*#, I went to game out there last season I believe. It was around this time and we were in the RF bleachers and holy hell the sun is just beating down on you if you're there during a day game.
