  1. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 03:49 PM) This will probably sounds nuts to people but I'm not including Kopech in a deal for Machado even if he signed an extension. All the sudden you're losing a lot of your payroll flexibility and you're losing your potential ace. We have some pitching depth in this organization but we don't have Kopech depth. You weaken your future rotation a great deal and you lose a lot of this payroll flexibility you've gained. I'm really not a fan of doing that even for a guy like Manny. Agreed.
  2. QUOTE (SonofaRoache @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 03:41 PM) That would never happen as teams would not trade big names to us anymore. That's more of a move at the deadline if everything just blows up on us. Oh I know, I said as much in this very thread, but the whole flipping to the Yankees rumor was definitely a right now type thing and not a deadline move. That’s why the Sox have come out multiple times and said they have every intention of keeping him.
  3. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 02:50 PM) Who the f*** is Dan Clark and what the f*** does he know? But seriously, this Machado is both exciting & terrifying. I just wish a White Sox mouthpiece like Merkin would pop in with a “Kopech & Giolito not included in any offer”. f***...f***...f***... QUOTE (Sockin @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 03:30 PM) Well thank god for that. @DanClarkSports RHP Michael Kopech - the White Sox's top pitching prospect - is NOT included in Machado trade talks. Untouchable. #Orioles #HotStoveRHP Michael Kopech - the White Sox's top pitching prospect - is NOT included in Machado trade talks. 4. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 03:23 PM) CF Anderson 2B Moncada SS Machado 1B Abreu RF Jimenez DH Garcia LF Delmonico C Castillo 3B Sanchez Oh my Flip flop Sanchez & Anderson and that could be an isanely good lineup despite not having a true leadoff bitter.
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 03:19 PM) yuck. Can't imagine how much i would hate if I heard Michael Reinsdorf was influencing a package back. I took it as a positive given how crazy Peter Angelos is, but obviously I don’t know a lot about his son. I just feel like more often than not, the second generation of family ownership is a little more grounded (Wirtz’s, Steinbrenner’s, etc). I feel like us Bulls fans got stuck with the rare bad one in Michael Reinsdorf and his BFF Gar Foreman.
  6. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 03:14 PM) Where did you see that? MLB Network 10 minutes ago.
  7. Nightengale just brought up the rumor that the Sox might flip Machado to the Yankees. Definitely seems like a competitor purposely leaked that in hopes of giving the Orioles cold feet on dealing with us. He also specifically mentioned “the Sox claim their offer isn’t as strong as they’re making it out to be”.
  8. Not that is means much, but Dan O’Dowd doesn’t believe the Orioles will get a haul for Machado.
  9. A couple of the insiders have mentioned that Angelos’ son has actively been involved in these talks and it appears that factor could increase the likelihood of a deal being completed this week.
  10. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 02:58 PM) They’re live 1-3, then coverage is done. He repeated what he said, but he said the Os front office is on their way back to present options to Angelos. Gotcha, apologies for the misinformation.
  11. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 02:53 PM) I like this Dan Clark fellow: https://twitter.com/danclarksports/status/941155857022066688 Yeah, this guy is f***ing badass. I like anyone that hates the Yankees and their fans as much as I do.
  12. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 02:53 PM) Clark is legit, he has Baltimore sources. And I guarantee you Kopech will not be traded. The Rosenthal Kopech/Giolito piece was likely posturing from Baltimore. Wouldn't be surprised if it were a Rodon/Rutherford package, though. That’s a huge package though. I mean, you can make a very strong argument that Rodon is the better trade chip than Giolito despite the shoulder injury. If I’m dealing Rodon for Machado I would hope there isn’t much else going out with him.
  13. QUOTE (Dunt @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 02:53 PM) WSD already said he wasnt In Dave I trust.
  14. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 02:53 PM) Rosenthal said it about 45 minutes ago and, if he’s just repeating Nightengale, he would have given him credit. On MLB Network? Isn’t the bulk of the programming just repeats? I could definitely be wrong here but I heard him say something similar hours ago.
  15. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 02:45 PM) Dan Clark‏Verified account @DanClarkSports Offers on Manny Machado are so strong, the #Orioles may finalize a trade by week's end. #HotStove https://twitter.com/DanClarkSports/status/941392974151270400 Who the f*** is Dan Clark and what the f*** does he know? But seriously, this Machado is both exciting & terrifying. I just wish a White Sox mouthpiece like Merkin would pop in with a “Kopech & Giolito not included in any offer”. f***...f***...f***...
  16. I believe that video with Rosenthal was also filmed earlier this morning, so it’s not exactly breaking news. In fact, he may just be reporting what Nightengale tweeted during the night.
  17. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 02:11 PM) He got that info from the Baltimore side of things and I still don't trust it. I think it's a ploy to get other teams to up their offers. Most leaks this early in the process are typically strategic, which supports what you’re saying. Trading Kopech for Machado is most certainly robbing Peter to pay Paul, so I just can’t see it happening. The same applies to Giolito to a lesser extent.
  18. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 12:42 PM) True, I think we as fans tend to overvalue our prospects a bit This part may be true. At the very least, Hahn wasn’t overly concerned if he lost Guerrero.
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 12:52 PM) Why would the White Sox say they have the best offer? Of course they will downplay their offer. Again, if all Baltimore is going to get is second tier guys, there is no incentive for them to trade him. Because our second tier guys are still top 100 prospects. Two years of Ozuna just got the Marlins zero top 100 prospects. Teams aren’t paying nearly as much for short-term assets as they have in the past, with elite relievers at the deadline being the one exception. That’s not to say Machado will come cheaply, but I can’t imagine a Quintana like return for him given his limited control. And maybe the Orioles decided what we have to offer isn’t enough and keep him through the deadline, but I can’t see many teams really blowing us out of the water if they decide to move him now.
  20. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 12:51 PM) I sure hope the "traded by the week's end" line proves to be true. Would rather not lose weeks or months of my life to my White Sox obsession ? This clearly has fired on my OCD mode. Drat! I feel you, lucky for me on I’m vacation and have the bandwidth right now to fully enjoy these rumors.
  21. QUOTE (credezcrew24 @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 12:48 PM) I'm not sure if it is the most recent, but Johan Santana had 2 Cy Young's, 4 top 5 finishes, and 32.5 WAR in the 5 seasons before he was traded That’s a good comp, but it was also nine or ten years ago and they got a 72 hour window to negotiate an extension. Looking at the teams involved, just not sure what they’d be able to give up that’s that much more attractive than our second tier of prospects. The teams that would likely want Machado don’t exactly have a lot of expenable blue chippers to give up, assuming the Orioles won’t deal with the Yankees. I’d honestly see the Cardinals as the biggest threat and they’d have to offer Reyes to force us to do something truly uncomfortable.
  22. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 12:39 PM) Remember when FO was a fool for not protecting Peter/Guerrero? I mean, even Rick thought he was going to lose a guy or two.
  23. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 12:28 PM) And we could have had him it seems, for just 500k https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/12/pira...pool-space.html Someone should ask Rick about this at Soxfest.
  24. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 12:29 PM) This kinda reminds me of an auction draft in fantasy sports. A good player comes up and you start bidding kinda high to not waste time, then nobody else is bidding and you start to panic. Baltimore is like "YOU ARE THE BEST OFFER" and now Hahn is like "What, NO! Probably not us. SOmeone else is gonna bid. Can't be us" Lol...it does come off that way. But I’m more hopeful now that the Kopech/Giolito tweet was a leak from the Orioles to get other teams to step up their offers and does not reflect what we’re willing to give up. I actually like that we’re involved in the process, just would prefer not giving up any of the core guys.
  25. QUOTE (Sockin @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 12:10 PM) @BNightengale The #WhiteSox insist they have no intention to flip Manny Machado if they land him, but also believe other teams have made better offers to #Orioles This is actually pretty fascinating. Combine this with the “rob Peter to pay Paul” comment and I feel pretty good that Kopech & Giolito are not involved in any offer.
