I’m open to trading Abreu, but that team better be prepared to pay up. I’m talking about either a Quintana like return (one blue-chipper + one other top 100 type) or a Sonny Gray like return (three top 100ish prospects). So for the Rockies, a team that could desperately use Abreu, I’m talking one of the following two packages: A) Brendan Rogers & Riley Pint B) Jeff Hoffman, Ryan McMahon, & Raimel Tapia Obviously either of those packages would be a big price to pay for a year and a half of Abreu, but that’s the cost for me to give up one of the elite bats in the game, disrupting my clubhouse, & weakening my position with free agents next offseason.

What in the world are you talking about? His K rate was 27.1% coming into the day. Would I like it lower, sure, but it’s not a problem give his BB rate & power.

He has a 24.5% BB rate, that’s going to come with a bunch of strikeouts whether you like it or not.

Why can’t he start 120 to 130 games? There aren’t that many lefties in the majors.

There are a group of posters here who talk like Anderson is some bum and are hoping he gets replaced at SS. Whether he’s a 3 or 4 WAR SS isn’t important, it’s the fact he’s a solid to very good player and only going to get better. You are actually arguing that one bad play last night should somehow offset his body of work which is absurd. People are focusing too much on the mistakes and not looking at the bigger picture. And I don’t get the Yolmer comparison at all. Tim has a very strong package of tools, whereas Yolmer is more solid average around the board outside of fielding. Anderson has a significantly higher ceiling and has a chance of being a special player. We all hope Yolmer can be a solid starting 3B, but that’s probably as good as it gets. I truly believe Anderson will put up a 30/30 season this year. If so and he can maintain his current BB rate, he’ll be one of the best offensive SS’s in the game. And tool wise, he’s got all the ability in the world to be a good defensive SS. It will just take some time.

I didn’t get to watch the game, but Fegan mentioned Tim was battling a sore thumb and specifically cited the double error play. Maybe we all need to cut him some slack until we see these “concentration problems” become a trend.

Tim is currently at 1.3 WAR through 48 games. He’s on pace for a 4+ WAR season despite a .273 BABIP. That’s 55 points below his 2017 BABIP and 100+ points below his minor league average. I get some of his denfensive miscues can be frustrating, but there is a group of people here who need to STFU when they start questioning if Tim is a major league SS or a key part of the core. The kid is only 24 years old and well on his way to being a future stud. His six years of control at roughly $39M is going to look a complete steal a few years from now. Haters really need to be silenced here.

This is baseball, not the NBA. You don’t need to rebuild Sam Hinkie style and rip your organization to the ground year after year until you finally get enough stars. We are burning through service time of a guy who has the potential to be a top 5 player in the game. I’m not saying that Jose is untradable, but losing a guy who is a top 30 hitter will likely extend the rebuild timeline and cost you precious Moncada years. And that doesn’t even include the clubhouse impacts which may or may not be signicant. IMO you have to be blown away to move Abreu to take on that risk.

I’m sure it’s related to OBP which is more valuable than slugging. And are you sure minor league wRC+ is park adjusted? I feel like it might not be which would make both players’ stats far more impressive.

To my knowledge, he was throwing upper 90s post TJS while first in the minors and has been losing velocity each and every year. I don’t think that is that normal.

How does one effectively lose 6 to 8 MPH on their fastball in a handful of years with no known injury?

He’s a guy who should really benefit from the pros both from the juiced balls and better umps. I’ve seen him be the victim of multiple bad calls in the few games I’ve watched him.

Almost seems like there some prospect fatigue with Mize. A month ago the reports were all glowing and he was the clear cut #1 draft pick. And while most publications still think he’ll go #1, there has been far more skepticism of him lately. He’s the no-brainer #1 prospect IMO and we’d be insane to pass on him if he somehow made it to #4.
