  1. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 07:08 PM) I don't know if anything will work, but that would be a good start. This team looks pretty brutal so far. We definitely need Viciedo & Flowers to hit better for starters. If that doesn't happen, we can write this season goodbye. Still way too early to give up on either of them.
  2. If I were the Nationals I'd be running on Axelrod all night.
  3. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 07:02 PM) Innings like that--that's the difference between winning and losing in a lot of games. This team is short on talent. Way short. I don't think it's a talent issue, I think the lineup is simply constructed wrong. Dunn should be batting 5th, Viciedo 6th, Gillespie 7th, Flowers, & Ramirez 9th.
  4. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 06:48 PM) We are at a massive disadvantage now. Yeah, and we're at an advantage when we have Dunn in the lineup vs whoever they put in at DH. I'm all for having a DH in both leagues, but until then, most NL teams won't have a worthy DH option on their roster. The current method is more fair than making the NL use a DH in all interleague games.
  5. QUOTE (Cali @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 06:45 PM) The DH should be mandatory in any Interleague Game. Too much of a disadvantage to NL teams IMO.
  6. QUOTE (Cali @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 06:43 PM) The Sox have to lead the league in RBI Groundouts haha That's the only way we can manufacture runs!
  7. QUOTE (Cali @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 06:42 PM) Gillaspie is awesome He definitely seems like he'll be a useful player. Great trade by Hahn to get that left-handed hitting IF before the start of the season.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 06:37 PM) Not really bitter. I understood the move, but I think Flowers playing 5 or 6 games a week could eventually get very ugly. I don't think people really ever appreciated AJ like they should. He kept the back up catcher off the field. AJ was one of the most beloved Sox in recent memory. I'm not sure who didn't appreciate him.
  9. Does Santiago pitching an inning yesterday affect how many he can go today? I would assume so, which is going to make things ugly for us if Axelrod can only go 4 innings.
  10. Didn't Rios try stealing last night while Dunn was up?
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 04:03 PM) 50/50 chance this effectively ends his career with the Sox. He'd have to come back raking now, no time at all to struggle. Yeah, and if Gillaspie or whomever his replacement is plays well in his absence then there simply may be no starting role for him when he comes back.
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 10, 2013 -> 08:42 PM) Thank god for Williams/Hahn/Marco Paddy that Santos hasn't done anything for the Blue Jays. We've struck out with both Zach Stewart and Molina so far. Not the greatest track record for somebody who should have intimate knowledge of their system. Hawkins, mirroring the major league team, added 2 K's to finish the evening. Now 3/15 on the year. I'm pretty sure that Paddy was hired after the Edwin Jackson trade.
  13. It will be nice when Barmum is healthy and hopefully assigned to low A. Kannopolis' lineup is practically void of actual prospects.
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 10, 2013 -> 07:09 PM) Don't jinx him! I said the same thing about Uribe in 2004. Yeah, sorry about that. Think I said the same thing about Paulie last year. But seriously, right now every time Rios comes up to bat I feel like he's going to get a bit. He's just so locked in at the moment.
  15. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Apr 10, 2013 -> 06:36 PM) Hawkins with another HR. Awesome.
  16. QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 10, 2013 -> 01:13 PM) But that is you. YOU. Those are things you do. You can't expect everyone to mimic your behavior simultaneously. There is a relatively small, dedicated core of fans that do this, probably 1/4 the fanbase if that. Then there is everyone else. So only 1/4 of our fanbase actually wants to attend more games when the team is playing well for an extended period of time in a particular season? If you really believe that, then you're implying that the rest of our fanbase doesn't care about winning at all (they'll attend a set number of games regardless of current performance) or they need a successful, completed season before they'll start attending more games. I call bulls*** on that. I think the issue comes down to money and hopefully the price cuts help with that.
  17. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Apr 10, 2013 -> 12:34 PM) It is reality though. Look at the attendance from 2005 and 2006. Guess which one is higher? But since they didn't do anything in 2006 it went down in 2007. The previous season absolutely matters. I was only talking about single game tickets. I already acknowledged season tickets require sustained or established success. My point is pretty simple. If it's 80+ degrees in July and the Sox are in first place, I'm going to as many games as I possibly can. I could care less how they did last year or how they might do next year. I want to enjoy the team now while they're actually good.
  18. What's with all the TV show theme songs? Game of Thrones just now and Walking Dead earlier.
  19. How can he keep walking all these lefties?
  20. Nice player Flowers. Let's get two easy outs.
