Bowden’s latest article in the Athletic is a bunch of Q&A, but with several questions on Cease. Says to no surprise that the Orioles & Yankees are leading the pursuit and that Getz is asking for too much right now. He then addressed a specific question on a hypothetical from BAL of Westburg + Kjerstad/Cowser + Povich + Urias + a lower level prospect or two and said that “should be pretty close to what a final trade would look like”. I’d be pretty ecstatic if we could get Westburg + Kjerstad + Povich.

Stroman is a really solid pitcher, but the Yankees lack a #2 behind Cole and that really isn’t Marcus. Plus it seems like half the world hates Stroman so my guess is he is not a great clubhouse guy.

It’s very clear that Getz wants his prospects to earn to their playing time and not be handed jobs because no other option exists. I would wager big money this one of many things that Getz criticized the previous regime for when he put his sales pitch into Jerry. And honestly, I think it makes sense assuming you are willing to cut bait quickly on placeholders once those prospects are called up. This “I won’t sacrifice a single for development” bullshit won’t fly.

Man I don’t know how you see a 99% outcome being a top 10 offense with this crew. Right now, you are starting DeJong at SS, Lopez at 2B, Phillips in RF, and Maldonado / Stassi at CA. That’s four spots with zero offensive output even if Robert, Moncada, Eloy, Vaughn, & Benintendi are healthy & productive (which in multiple cases are big ifs). That could change some depending on what they get back for Cease, how Montgomery does if/when he’s called up, and if they add semi-component veteran RF, but right now I’d say the ceiling of this offense is probably closer to league average.

If you’re going to try this (which I’m ok with), you should be doing it in Charlotte and clawing back some team control for when it actually matters.

You have to take Haniger’s salary for ‘25 & ‘26 into consideration here, which is fairly significant and a big part of the trade for SF.

No one is saying he should go to jail or be condemned to hell, but unfortunately when you’re a public figure who says something stupid & hate-filled for the the world to see, the repercussions are going to a bit higher and you may no longer be entitled to multi-million dollar paying broadcast roles. This isn’t cancel culture, it’s common sense.

I’m sorry…but hate isn’t an “opposing view”. You can argue for why we should forgive and/or not cancel him (if there is any reason there), but don’t try to act like this is some misunderstanding of differing opinions.
