  1. honestly this team is as dumb as dysfunctional as the mets, we just don't live in NYC so it goes un-commented on
  2. This is going to go exactly like last time, isn't it? The Sox have a young, talented core of cost controlled players, and they fill out the roster with Hector Santiago and Jon Jay.
  3. He's not waiting, he's already injured all the time. Unless that's what you meant. Anyways any signing of Ryu is a calculated risk, given that he's unlikely to top 120 innings in any given year, and probably will provide less than that. They'll be good innings though.
  4. Here's the blurb from Fangraphs: "Clutch does a good job of describing the past, but it does very little towards predicting the future. Simply because one player was clutch at one point does not mean they will continue to perform well in high-leverage situations (and vice versa). Very few players have the ability to be consistently clutch over the course of their careers, and choking in one season does not beget the same in the future." basically, its real, but not terribly useful.
  5. Josh Nelson posted some stats on Cease's individual pitches. I guess the SLG on his fastball is like .700... he gets some FB command and he will be lethal.
  6. They've already explained why they aren't as high on him as others. I think the numerical score is just an artifact from before the season. He's a very volatile prospect and the ranking reflects that. Ultimately, it doesn't matter.
  7. I guess Madrigal is gonna ok huh
  8. He got a PRP injection and is shut down for the season so safe to say there's some UCL damage? I guess they're going the Tanaka route rather than surgery so that they have him for 2020.
  9. Good teams need a lot of pitching depth, and the Sox high minors aren't producing the depth they need to contend in 2020. I'd be fine with bringing back Nova for cheap, but if enough teams want him, it may not be worth the cost.
  10. And now Chris Sale is seeing Dr Andrews, crap.
  11. yeah wRC+ is the shit, love looking at one number and knowing "cool, this guy is 21% better than a league average hitter"
  12. I'd probably bat Robert lower in the order, I don't see him as being an on-base threat. Maybe like a .320-.330 OBP guy at his peak. So either 3rd or 5th, probably. So like: 1. Madrigal 2. Moncada 3. Abreu or some other 1B/DH type (Collins? Sheets? FA?) 4. Eloy 5. Robert
  13. It's kind of laughable just how badly Fiers owns this team.
  14. the "mom and pop shop" comment continues to be accurate in depressing ways.
  15. Home park doesn't affect K/BB rates but level of competition does, which is why we gotta see what Walker does in AA. FWIW I think they're both 40FV guys and probably won't factor much into the next good Sox team.
  16. I'm gonna wait until Walker bounces off of AA before I comment on this. In general, though, I think Rutherford is the better 'spect.
  17. I'm over here, hooting and hollering about TANKWATCH 2020 (the draft class not the MLB season)
  18. no its ok, I'm at maybe 5% hope Collins is anything besides a platoon bat.
  19. lmao I think your team has to be good for people to say this
