  1. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 08:23 PM) I think he will still be with the White Sox in August because "the right deal wasn't there." I sure hope that isn't the case. I've had enough of the organization holding onto guys just long enough to denude their value.
  2. I'd sure love to hear what's on the table for Peavy at this point.

Beck with THREE strikeouts in THREE innings. Do more of this dude.
  4. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 06:25 PM) Source? Peter Gammons ‏@pgammo 18m Garza haul of Edwards, Olt, Grimm and the chance to take N. Ramirez as PTBNL a boom for Cubs, statement about Tex. system Expand
  5. Gordon Wittenmyer ‏@GDubCub 5m Olt to be assigned to Iowa. Grimm too. Edwards to A Daytona. And TWO ptbnl's in deal. Retweeted by Chris De Luca Expand
  6. Sounds like the PTBNL could be Neil Ramirez. Fantastic return if true.
  7. Buster Olney ‏@Buster_ESPN 2m The fact that Oakland was brought into the Garza talks Friday by the Cubs tells you they didn't have a lot of serious interest besides TEX. Expand
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 04:20 PM) Wouldn't be shocked if it's Sardinas That would be a hell of a return for a Garza rental.
  9. I wonder who the 3rd player is. Either way CJ Edwards is legit. Jury is still out on Olt.
  10. Sucks. Texas was a pretty good match. Hopefully Arizona still wants Jake.
  11. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 02:44 PM) Love Swihart. Wonder if he's available in a Peavy deal. I'd imagine so. I'm also a fan of his.
  12. Nick Cafardo ‏@nickcafardo 5m We hear Red Sox prefer peavy over garza but remain active in talks on both. Much will hinge on buchholz second opinion with dr Andrews Expand
  13. I hope the Sox keep losing. Trade off parts to fortify the farm and then add a big fat top 3 draft prospect into the fold. Build something more sustainable even if it takes a few down seasons.
  14. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 21, 2013 -> 09:05 PM) It's early in this dance with Texas. I will say Peavy should command more than they would send for Garza. I really would like Odor. He's one of my favorite prospects. Sardinas is nice. Nick Williams is the definition of a White Sox pospect as well. They also have some great pitching in Luke Jackson and Edwards.
  15. QUOTE (mike65 @ Jul 21, 2013 -> 08:38 PM) I read somewhere today that Towers said that the DBacks can't or won't take on any new payroll. If the DBacks weren't there for Peavy, I would assume they were there for Lindstrom? They have had their share of bullpen issues. If it really turns out that the Yanks, Orioles, Red Sox, and Cards were the ones there for Peavy, how do you guys think that this will play out? Red Sox and Cards match up best as far as prospects go. I don't think Baltimore has the pieces unless they are willing to give up Gausman and/or Bundy (who just had TJ as well). The Yanks farm system ain't so hot either other than Gary Sanchez.
  16. Evan Gattis. You looked foolish.
  17. Castellanos. I don't understand the Avisail love at all.
  18. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 21, 2013 -> 12:59 PM) FWIW, I prefer Chris Owings to Matt Davidson...but why not both? I'd love it. Throw in a reliever if you have to.
  19. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 21, 2013 -> 11:13 AM) Supposedly the Giants have offered packages built around CF Gary Brown and C Andrew Susak to the Cubs for Garza, but the Cubs have turned them down. I would too. Meh.
  20. larry from SSS has his take on Hakwins up. Can't say I disagree. http://www.southsidesox.com/minors/2013/7/...charlie-leesman
  21. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 21, 2013 -> 10:01 AM) Or Chris Owings. Can't wrong with either. Preferably both but let's not get greedy I'm more sold on Davidson, but I wouldn't turn my nose up at Owings.
  22. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 21, 2013 -> 09:43 AM) If the rumored return for Garza is right, we should be able to swing a franchise-changing kind of deal for Peavy if our GM can scout and negotiate well. Matt Davidson + please.
  23. QUOTE (Paulstar @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 08:28 PM) Brian Goodwin is someone the Sox tried to get via the draft out of high school a couple years ago, so I would assume he would be a top target in any trade involving the Nats Yep. I'm just not the biggest Goodwin fan.
  24. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 08:23 PM) per MLBTrade Rumors: Nationals might be looking at Peavy due to Detwiler performance/health issues. Cole, Giolito, and Karns are fine prospects, but other than Brian Goodwin the positional prospects in Washington are lacking at the moment. Still interesting though.
  25. Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 1m One more note on Peavy: Scout from #STLCards also attended his start today. Like all scouts there, could have been looking at others too.
