2023 MLB offseason signings and rumors thread
There are incentives that can kick it up to $10M too. Sox most likely couldn’t beat playing time nor the price.

Gary Sanchez Twitter rumor
I think the amount of negative attention they get from anyone who is triggered by them has something to do with it. I look at it like a bully. If you know it bothers people you keep doing it. I don’t understand why more people don’t choose to ignore it.

Gary Sanchez Twitter rumor
He’s doubling down today. I don’t think he has ever been right on anything.
-
Sox serious about analytics
I love this move. Huge step in the right direction on how they should be getting these players game day ready and putting them in the best position to have success and reach their potential.
-
Gary Sanchez Twitter rumor
I'd tend to lean toward the larger, prior 6 years of data behind the plate that says Sanchez is not a good fielder than what could end up being an outlier year.

Sox building something outside GRF…?
Yeah, it's really underwhelming. Unless they have plans to expand it after this season, it seems completely pointless, because like you said, 8 people can watch shoulder to shoulder?

Sox Sign Hanser Alberto
I'm totally fine with this as a MiLB deal. He crushes lefties.

Yep. Exact reason why I don't understand why some people want him so badly for 2B.

Wouldn’t mind the Sox taking a flyer on Julian Merryweather. He was just DFA’d by the Blue Jays.

Your 2023 Off-Season Plan
Sox should give a guy like Ken Giles or Alex Reyes a shot. Try to get a boom or bust type of signing. You probably could get Giles on a NRI with the possibility of closing as an enticement. No idea what the health status is on either of these guys though.

Francona would never allow that guy to return. He might be one of the few players where the talent doesn't outweigh the PR nightmare and day-to-day headache.

2nd Base I guess it’s going to be Sosa or Gonzalez?
I wouldn't hate this. He is lefty and does has occasional pop.

Grifol told Eloy to get some work in RF
Eloy hasn't played RF since 2018. There is no way they are serious about that. This has to be a big nothing burger offseason talk and nothing more.

2nd Base I guess it’s going to be Sosa or Gonzalez?
I think he has an outside shot to put up 15-20 HR's with the correct swing changes. There are obviously concerns with his lack of discipline, but I'd be willing to give him a shot with this new 2.5 hitting coach approach.

Liam Hendriks coming up in trade discussions
Not really. Enough people here think Lopez and/or Graveman can close, so the same needs to be said for the Dodgers who arguably have even better arms with Hudson, Phillips and Graterol. I’m more surprised the Sox have made any trades yet. I thought we would have seen Graveman or Kelly long gone by now simply to clear some payroll.

Here's one guy who will be part of the "competition."

Carlos Correa is a Twin - 6 yrs $200M
Nah, Boras clearly didn't use enough metaphors to seal the deal!

Rumor: TLR will (NOT*) be present for ST *update
Fucking awful. This POS needs to be locked up in the retirement home already. Keep him away from this team for fucks sake.

We're not up there trying to hit singles
That’s a good thing. Cairo didn’t deserve it. That much is as evident as the lack of teams lining up to offer him even a MiLB managerial job.

It looks like the Outfield is set
Mark Payton is headed to Japan for 2023. He just signed with the Seibu Lions. Sox are going to need to add more minor league guys because we're literally looking at Reyes and Hamilton and that's about it for depth.

How did Kimbrel convince Dombrowski he is worth $10M?!
-
It looks like the Outfield is set
Give me Duvall for the 4th spot. Reyes and Billy can stay in Charlotte for depth.

Liam Hendriks coming up in trade discussions
It's arguable they still need more balance. As it stands, Varsho probably won't bat any higher than 5th at best. Plus Kiermaier isn't exact known for his bat. Still massively righty heavy.

Yep, they literally had an entire right-handed lineup before getting Varsho and Kiermaier. Their OF defense has improved dramatically with the moves they've made.

Plus, wouldn't he want to try to show he can still play the field? That's a cavernous park. Just seems like he has a lot going against him.
