  1. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 06:49 PM) I'm now trying to tweet w/ him in Spanish, it is both of our second language (let's hope he's better with Spanish than I am!) Brazilians do not speak Spanish. They speak Portuguese.
  2. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 05:48 PM) How about we trade Rios for Pence? And then release him immediately after the trade. All joking aside, this happens to me in every trade I've ever done in The Show. I trade some MLB "face player" for "prospects" and the other team releases the face player.
  3. love that the picture of Crain on mlbtr post is of Crain pitching in an seemingly empty USCF
  4. 2013 and 2014 will likely have the same outcome as 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. The White Sox are stuck with Alex Rios, whether the Sox and Sox fans like it or not. What value does he have on the trade market? Sure, he isn't a defensive liability, he runs well and can steal bases, he hits for a decent average and can hit a homer every once in a while. But - he doesnt do anything exceedingly well, has a perceived lax attitude and makes a lot of money this season AND next. There are plenty of fringy replacement-level guys that can be had. Ales Rios isnt a difference-maker and at his salary and the Sox reported trade demands, he needs to be. But, he isn't. We're stuck with him.
  5. Sunday morning I flew back from Omaha and sat next to two obvious scouts flying to Detroit. It was a red eye, so I assume they were scouting the Royals AAA team? They were both talking about how they don't understand how the team is a buyer. I am assuming the team is the Royals? Also, they spent a good 15 minutes making fun of Dave Cameron and fangraphs for their "bulls*** scouting reports"
  6. What or which University of Higher Education issued Paul Konerko's Ph.D. in hitting? Are they accredited? If so, by what accreditation body? Was it the University of Hawk? If so, I doubt that degree is recognized by anyone outside of the White Sox broadcast booth.
  7. Every single one of the tests, he tested positive for awesome.
  8. Heyman is simply rewriting Jim Boyden's "trades that should happen" stuff he was doing on XM.
  9. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/art...292/1/index.htm Uh, ok then....
  10. Remember in 2007, the entire roster was up for grabs, but the Sox traded Iguchi and Mackowiak. I doubt a full on gutting of the roster takes place.
  11. Why on earth is the Sox BEST hitter batting 8th and 9th consistently? #fireVentura
  12. Heard a good 30 minute analysis on MLB Radio on XM on this very subject during spring training. He has no cartilage in his knee and can't push off the mound. IE: He is done.
  13. I read through the WSI thread, and I can see why some of the folks there are peeved. Full year season ticket holders literally got no notice of the event at all.
  14. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 12, 2013 -> 10:40 AM) Anyone have a cardboard cutout of Rachel Phelps hanging around? Better yet, get one of Reinsdorf! Sure. One can be had for the right price. Problem is, this is the White Sox. With that being said, the White Sox would track down the Rachel Phelps of RIGHT NOW, which is a late-50s aging, gross, gray haired, wrinkled saggy old woman whose days as a Hollywood sex symbol are LONG past. Cardboard cutout this..... But this fits right in with the last few years of White Sox acquisitions. *shrug* Manny, Griffey, Alomar, Alomar Jr, etc.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 28, 2013 -> 01:17 AM) He better make the right trades. I still wish he wouldn't trade pitching. Sox are going to be a 60 win team for a long long time to come if he trades off all that pitching. Meh. That might be a stretch. You can sign stopgap replacement level guys on one or two year deals until "whoever" is ready to come up and be a regular rotation guy.
  16. In regards to trading De Aza, what can the Sox expect back? Can we look at the Ben Revere and Denard Span trades as good comps? full-time average season WAR: Ben Revere: 1.1 Denard Span: 2.9 De Aza: 1.4 Minnesota sold high on Span, as he was coming off of his best season, in regards to his "WAR". Although, playing full-time for a whole season now for a few years, De Aza is actaually more valuable than I think we give him credit for...
  17. The good news about trading Rios is that we literally gave up NOTHING to get him except for taking on his contract (during the years he wasn't earning it). So whatever value the Sox are able to get out of trading him is ALL bonus.... boom!
  18. BIG BALLS there by Crain. Too bad these games are now meaningless. Unless, of course, Crain is trying to pitch himself onto a contending team.
  19. Conor Gillaspie has posted a 687 OPS thus far in 2013. Granted its only 55 games but ... We Sox fans complained about Joe Crede for his first 4 seasons.... and he never posted an OPS below 714 in those seasons (2004... which was his lowest OPS for a full time season). Yes, Gillaspie sucks.
  20. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 13, 2013 -> 09:11 PM) Oh noes... https://twitter.com/CaptainOmo/status/34528...1946113/photo/1 OK, quick roster check... who on the Rays could the Sox use *cough* everyone on the roster *cough*
  21. here's my crazy trade idea: Trade Seth Loman to the Orioles for cash considerations.
  22. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ May 30, 2013 -> 02:09 PM) They've done that all year Then clearly, they want the season to be over with.
  23. The sox are swining early in counts. Obviously want this game to be over with.
  24. Quick, someone email BROOKS! Sox should wear these jerseys on Saturdays...
