  1. I must really be in store for good times because I've only seen this seasons episodes and thought Thursdays was good. Some of the entire "how did the poo get here" angle dragged on, but overall it had its moments. The scene where the broad wanted to a cocktail bar to play "Sex and the City" and the guys were going on about the show. "I'm going to take off my shirt........blast my NIPS." "Why would you tell him you have a bleached asshole? Well, he was going to find out anyways."
  2. Labeling it "art of the pickup" is correct because what works for some may not work for others. I hate, on occasions, coming across some type of show/special where there's a dating expert attempting to teach some loser how to become a ladies man. MTV had a feature about it on their "True Life" series and I honestly had to change the channel because it became unbearable to watch. Here's what I know -- the act of picking up someone is developed over years. That guy featured in Mick's post above wearing the goofy s*** may have found out awhile ago that women are interested in him because they notice how different he is. The hat, the earrings, the lipstick on his neck, whatever else; it's not enough to have these traits but knowing how to use them to your advantage.
  3. I really enjoyed Walked Hard: Dewey Cox story. There were a lot of good moments satirizing the pro typical rise and fall musicians seem to experience. One of my favorite parts of the movie is when Dewey is playing like Bob Dylan and two of his bandmates have absolutely no idea what it's about. Then Tim Meadows says something such as "You guys are idiots. This guy is DEEP." It's just so true how divided he makes people. Sorry Bob Dylan.
  4. South Park joins Family Guy in the category of absolutely terrible season premiers. And with Family Guy these last two have been so bad I'd almost rather watch one of the four episodes they replay EVERY f***ING DAY. I guarantee you, over Cartoon Network/TBS/whatever on any given day, you'll find one of these episodes airing: Peter and the King, Stewie Tries to Find His Self in the Future, Peter Becomes President of Tobacco Company.
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 06:33 PM) and, conversely, the baggier the shirt, the more awkward they are. Never fails. Haha. The same guy who said tight shirt=douchebag wears baggy shirts to cover up his gut, and he definitely fits the mold.
  6. The reality is these guys wouldn't be wearing the pants if someone didn't like them. I know if one of my friends ever wore tight pants they'd never hear the end of it. From what I've seen of guys wearing tight pants on campus, it seems to be gay fashion. They're not just wearing tight pants and say, a Chicago Bears sweatshirt. It's always something that's equally strange (from my perspective) such as really tight shirt with some imagery going from the chest around the shoulder. But tight shirts aren't only reserved for the girly pants wearing crowd. They're a favorite choice of Johnny Fratboy or your average meathead. My friend came up with an interesting equation -- the tighter the shirt, the bigger the douchebag. It has never been proven false.
  7. QUOTE (lostfan @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 12:23 AM) I heard myself actually saying "we didn't have the internet back then..." a couple of months ago. Also I was telling a guy that just graduated high school about the Jordan dynasty, and how sweet it was to watch Frank Thomas as opposed to just popping your eyes out at his stats. None of that really even seems like that long ago to me, but I guess it is. I'm only 26 btw. Anyone else here tend to use the Berlin Wall/end of the Cold War as a point of reference? My older brother does. Richard Roeper had a blurb about the anniversary of 9/11 last month and it included an interesting perspective -- we're not too far away from a time where people won't be able to recall where they were on that date. College freshman right now were 11/12 when it happened. That's when I'll really know I'm old. But I'm sure they'll be another devastating event within the near future that younger people can use as a reference point. We've gone too long without having one of those.
  8. What a typical New York fan. I don't mean hating everything Red Sox, but just his physical appearance. You know he has a thick accent and talks loudly while flailing his hands around.
  9. If anyone wants to feel better about themselves watch this game. Anaheim has already stranded 8 runners on 8 hits, 3 walks through five innings. Even though they have three runs, it should have been more. And Hunter just committed a showboat error in CF trying to make a basket catch.
  10. QUOTE (Sox It To Em @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 09:34 PM) Torii Hunter limping off the field? edit: Appears to be okay. LOL at him hurting himself jumping up and down after complaining about an out at 1st. That's just embarrassing.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 08:29 PM) Guys coming off injury can't help us next season? no. never.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 08:18 PM) I'll just point out again...by far the biggest reason why we can't plug Fields in at 3b and count on him for a 30 HR full season yet is injury, not talent. I'm not doubting you. It still doesn't matter, though, because whether he's talented and injured or just a recent reincarnation of Joe Borchard neither scenario helps the White Sox next season.
  13. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 08:14 PM) If Swisher has good speed, I haven't seen it. I heard so much about his passion for baseball and the way he hustles, and I didn't see it this year. Hopefully he hits .250 with his normal .350-.365 OBP next year. Someone needs to reintroduce him to HGH, because the Swisher I'm seeing is terrible. He'll probably be out of baseball before a legitimate, urine based test for HGH is discovered anyways.
  14. These are usually the moments where I point out that, once again, our lack of ANYTHING resembling positional talent in the higher levels of the minor league system is killing our ballclub. Just imagine if we were able to plug in Fields at 3B. Or if we, god forbid, had a Deonard Span coming up to make Dye expendable. Go on down the line -- someone at 1B to make Konerko expendable, or catcher to make AJ expendable. Gordon Beckham really better be a can't miss prospect. And hopefully one of several this system produces in the next several seasons.
  15. Guillen's comments on stranding runners "That's White Sox baseball." "They have clutch hitters, we dont."
  16. Here's a huge problem -- 1-5 in the lineup was 9-22, 2BB, 1HBP.......with only ONE run batted in. They're slow and unable to muster hits at the right moment. If Konerko Dye or Thome are on first base we're going to need two more hits (i wont acknowledge a 3B) or HR. One of those three just have to move. Enough of these guys who are exactly the same type of player with too little speed and too much age.

  18. Is there anybody out there? 6:00. Lets fill up that biznitch.
  19. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 11:22 PM) Holy s***, did you guys hear the Lou press conference? lol. Somebody asked him about Fukodome and he was like "I don't want to hear about Fukodome. I'm gonna start Theriot or Johnson or something. The kid's struggling. No use sending him out there anymore." Just kill the guy's confidence for life, Lou. lol. Someone may want to tell Lou his buddy Jim Hendry signed him to an extended deal. He'll be around here next season and the year after.
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 11:12 PM) Excellent column in my opinion by Couch. Have to nod my head in agreement here. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/couch/11994...g100308.article That's a strong comment to suggest that Vazquez can't pitch for the White Sox again. Not that I disagree with him, but aside from Mariotti (and maybe Cowley) I rarely sense frustration within an article like I did here with Couch. It reads like someone just disgusted with what he has seen with Cabrera and Vazquez.
  21. Did anyone see Pinella show frustration with Fukodome? He was PISSED, basically said he's struggling, not going to be in the lineup anymore, and that's the end of that. It was true, but surprising nevertheless to hear.
  22. Also, I know somebody will say "worry more about your own team," but watching the Cubs lose actually makes me feel about the Sox lost today. If we had our #2 pitcher on the mound, at home, and had 4 errors and gave up 10 runs I'd be furious. Not to mention the expectations on these guys compared to us.
  23. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 10:45 PM) I hope Dan Bernstein is drowning his sorrows in a cocktail of Jack Daniels and Cianide (I know he says he's a Sox fan, but I swear to god he's a f***ing cubs fan) I hate that jackass What, did he have the "you have nothing to worry about Cubs fans" angle?
  24. GREAT CALL UMP! I love it. It looked low and should give their fans something else to complain about.
  25. YES, the favorite part of the broadcast for me. Random shots of Cubs fans with sad facial gestures while rubbing their hands over their faces. HAHAHAH. Maybe we'll have a camera shot of someone crying!
