  1. I have to say I enjoy listening to the TBS studio team of Eckersly, Ripken, Wells. They work well off each other.
  2. I sympathize with anyone seeking employment during these times. While attending graduate school I spent, what seemed like, every weekend attending written examinations, orientations, even though every opening presented a similar formula -- too many applicants, too few openings. Mid summer I had made my way through the process (background investigation, polygraph, medical, several interviews, etc.) with one employer only to be set aside at the end in place of another applicant. It was devastating; especially since the person I interviewed with had all but assured me the position. However, two months ago, that same employer who previously rejected me called to give a conditional offer of employment. Anyone who knows me knows what that job is, but I'll say this -- do EVERY little thing you can to improve yourself. Just think, before entering a room, what sets you apart from other applicants. Even if it means volunteering somewhere several times a month, look at the bigger picture -- it'll set you apart, provide additional information to talk about in an interview, and perhaps give someone an impression that this person genuinely cares about other people.
  3. The spiteful part of me is anticipating Konerko's departure. When we cannot outbid for players on the market, there's no relief from within the organization, and our "core" (which was counted upon) is breaking apart, what will Williams do? Time for him to go to work. Honestly, I expect Danks to be dealt for a bat. That's about the only way, aside from some lucky low-risk/high-reward move, that we're coming anywhere close to replacing Konerko's production. Let's not forget AJ, either, if he decides to leave. We'll have trouble replacing him.
  4. Wow, only the second win all season when trailing after 8 innings.
  5. Thornton unleashing some zesty fastballs. Amazing how confident I feel when anyone but Jenks is pitching in the 9th.
  6. Nice inning Jenks. I cannot wait until he's gone.
  7. 2 outs doesn't mean anything with Jenks. He's still one pitch away from screwing up. And judging from that last meatball, he's better off getting beat on his fastball.
  8. Swung through two fastballs. Better not throw an offspeed pitch
  9. I'm f***ing sick of this guy. Every god damn time.
  10. I'm to the point with Jenks that it takes one pitch for me to hate him. Begin the inning with a ball and I'll just turn the channel.
  11. Imagine that teammates reaction when Dusty slapped his hand. He probably looked at his hand, stared at it for awhile, and then enthusiastically shot up, knowing full well that he had just discovered an awesome, non-verbal means of congratulating someone. Cmon, ICP!!! I'd guarantee that the hand slap has been around longer than any spoken language. Just think about how basic it is -- congratulating someone. If there was a time people were patting each other on the back for doing well, or shaking hands, I'd say the hand slap probably existed.
  12. QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 21, 2010 -> 09:40 PM) First one to tell me why Garcia was allowed to let the tying run come to the plate . . . gets a big 'ol prize! It's all part of the Venezuelan brotherhood they share. You wouldn't understand.

    P90X

I'm on Day 30 of P90X and I've managed to follow the schedule fairly well. Same story with the diet, and I'd say there were more days I ate less (due to working 12+ hours) than the opposite. Right now I'm 168 pounds, 14.5% BF and 6'2. On Day 20 (I didn't take weight measurements on Day 1) I was 173 pounds and 15.7 % BF. I'd always labeled myself a skinny fat person, and after doing some research decided that I'm going to follow this f***ing program through no matter how much weight I lose. I figure the plan is to see where I'm at in October when I'm finished, then if necessary, I'll adopt a program of doubling Tier 2 of the program for 4,000 calories. I'm really just worried about eating too much and gaining fat, which is what I'm trying to lose here. If I'm too skinny after completing the classic, then I can adjust afterward. Yesterday I began Shoulders, Triceps and Chest, and hated that only a few movements allowed me to use a lot of weight while keeping good form. Movements like the Y shoulder press I can do 8 reps of 35 pounds, but my arms aren't exactly in a Y shape so I had to drop it down. Almost all the tricep workouts (aside from the one laying on my back) had to be done with 5, 10 pound weights. Look forward to the other workouts. And thankfully it isn't as hot outside as in past weeks, so I don't have to sweat balls doing these workouts in my back room.
  14. In Candyman when the child's dick is cut off and he lays on the ground covered in his own blood, with this horrid expression on his face. When I was younger there was a scene in the movie Dolls where an adult named Ralph is wondering about odd occurences around the house, and one of the killer dolls says, "You know Ralph, deep down inside....you know." It disturbed me more than any other movie scene from my childhood. More recently, in City by the Sea, a police officer is murdered and afterward, at the officer's house when everyone meets to mourn his death, his daughter enters the room with food for everyone; only to collapse in grief and begin crying. It always was tough for me to watch it.
  15. If having Jenks pitch terribly shuts you up, I'll take it everyday. Yes, anticipating your next post, I am rooting for the Sox to lose, and Jenks to pitch terribly, just for the sole purpose of MAYBE quieting you. Just the 5% chance is enough for me.
  16. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 03:51 PM) KW presser at 4:30 per the Score. I believe this is to reassure the players on the team nothing more will happen and to focus on the game. Why hold a conference if you're expecting another player? He could wait a day to announce Jackson and Dunn if that were the case. Jackson isn't going anywhere, I'd say. If anything we'll have a minor trade; but definitely nothing approaching Dunn.

  18. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 02:34 PM) The Jackson trade is what it is. Hudson obviously was unable to land us a better cheaper pitcher, so the Sox got what they could. Would I rather have Jackson for the rest of the season than Hudson? Yes So the trade isnt bad for the Sox no matter how you much doom and gloom people want to say. Of course Hudson wouldn't land us a better, cheaper starting pitcher. Who the f***, in their right mind, would do that? Whenever someone says, "it is what it is," I've come to expect some funny explanations afterward. Hawk uses it all the time when he just doesn't have the patience to explain what's happening in front of him. I just want to switch scenarios here -- if we had Jackson and traded him for a pitcher of Hudson's caliber (which, may be nothing more than a #3/#4), while saving 7.5+ million, everyone here would be ecstatic. It may not be a bad trade in the sense one pitcher drastically outperforms the other, but ultimately, how much have we improved? Now, is this improvement worth a net increase in payroll of 7.5 million come next season? Are we doing this deal to perhaps improve one victory? And no, I don't want to hear you or anyone use that as justification, with some line of bulls*** following it about 'one game being the difference!"
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 04:15 PM) Sweet, here comes Pena in to hang more sliders. This one is looking like a loss. If we keep it within three runs I'll still have some confidence. Mazzaro has looked like s***. He's hanging sliders on par with Pena. We can perhaps get two, three runs off of him and then take our chances with their bullpen.
  20. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 04:12 PM) So -- anyone rethinking Hudson availability? Are you rethinking the playoffs? With Peavy out it shouldn't even be under consideration.
  21. Mazzaro has been hanging his slider nearly every time he has thrown it. I'm glad Castro knocked it out, because I don't want another god damn Kirk Sarloos esque game from the past where somehow a hanging slider when you pitch for Oakland becomes impossible to hit.

    P90X

I just started the entire P90x program on Monday. Shoulders and chest were rough, as was the Ab Ripper X, and I consider myself in good shape. I probably kept up for the first round of pushups and pullups, and then after that they're setting goals of 20 pushups, meanwhile I'm doing four or five before collapsing. It met my expectations, as I knew I wasn't going to match Tony or his other performers, but I honestly was surprised at the lack of actual weight lifting movements. Also, for the Ab Ripper workout, the oblique situp performed on your side is painful. Anyone else think so? It's just an incredibly awkward movement to make and pinches my hip bones everytime. I'm looking forward to the completing this in October, and I plan on following the diet as closely as possible. I'm upset I missed pylometrics yesterday due to working late (I don't want to get into this habit of missing workouts) but I'm doing that today.
  23. It's hilarious reading through NYKs Real GM forum. These fans are just dilusional at this point. If all anyone has to insist he's going somewhere aside from Cleveland or Miami is this concept of a "smokescreen for an M Knight twist on ESPN," you're just grasping for anything to prolong hope. I do not believe everyone, inclunding Reinsy or D'Antoni in New York, is in on it. Everyone is just looking for these small clues, when in reality, the writing lately has been all-Miami. We may be misled, but I don't think so; too many signs.
