  1. The post above yours pretty much answers it. There is also the fact that Detwiler is a FA in 4 days and Fry is controlled through 2023. Fry is nothing special, but he's a solid middle reliever. You don't punt a guy like that to keep Detwiler around for 1 more appearance before he leaves for FA. Had Detwiler stayed, he's, at best, the 4th left handed option out of the pen behind Bummer, Crochet and Rodon, so like...yeah, he didn't really have a role on this team anymore.
  2. Really 4 with Rodon now. Don't need 6 lefties in the pen. Bummer, Crochet, Rodon, Fry, Gio G and Detwiler. Feel bad for Big Ross Boss, but it was the right move.
  3. Honestly, they looked like shit against the Twins too.
  4. A win tonight and Twins loss would be HUGE and make me a very happy camper. Could leave Cleveland with a 4.5 game lead over the Tribe and 2 games over the Twins. Its possible, but a lot to ask for sure.
  5. I mean the teams will have the same record. They tied. The Sox won the tiebreaker. I want to actually win the division outright. A tie is a tie, and I am happy we have the tiebreaker with the Twins as opposed to not having it, but actually winning it would definitely be sweeter in my mind. Hence why I think we need to go 4-1 as the Twins are likely to finish 3-1. Tall task at this point, IMO.
  6. Let's start saving him for a little later in the game.
  7. I said win division outright. Not win a tie breaker. 4 is the magic number to get the top seed in the division, 5 is the magic number to win the division outright. I want to be ALC Champions by having the best record. Not Co-ALC Champions who won the one year seeding tiebreaker.
  8. I think they win today and get 2/3 from the Reds. That’s 37-23. That requires Sox to go 4-1 to win division outright at 38-22. Plus there is Cleveland who if Sox lose next two are 1 GB with 3 left with Pittsburgh.
  9. Well the the last 5 days have gone about as poorly as possible. Probably need to go 4-1 to win the division outright.
  10. He also leads the team in walks, and is third on the team (behind TA and just behind Jose) with a VERY good .357 OBP. This team desperately needed guys who can get on base and see pitches. It also desperately needed some balance. Yasmani provides both. As a big supporter of bringing Grandal on board, I won’t sit here and say I am tickled with his performance this year. But this is who Grandal is and always has been. An elite OBP switch hitting catcher who is also an above average framer and receiver. People who were expecting him to hit .280+ and not strike out a lot frankly just didn’t know his game very well.
  11. I’m with ya. He’s been tough to watch this year. Seems likely he’s at 50% at best. Hope we get 2019 Moncada in 21.
  12. Thanks. So Rodon tomorrow and Bummer early next week.
  13. I actually agree that playing Engel everyday isn’t the answer, but I would play him more. I don’t think Sox should cut Mazara today or anything, but he’s not returning next season, that I’m confident of.
  14. Kind of a big game. A 3 game lead with Twins only having 8 to play is close to insurmountable. Twins would have to go 7-1 to Sox 4-6 the rest of the way to pass them if the Sox win today. A win comes very close to locking up division. I hate trotting our ReyLo, but lining up Keuchel for playoffs IS more important. Still stings. Especially for me personally as all my friends are Twins fans and I want nothing more than a shove a huge W in their face today.
  15. When are Rodon and Bummers 45 days up?
  16. Lol, Ray - there is a zero percent chance Mazara is back next year. He’s going to be relatively expensive at $7-8M. Zero chance he’s back.
  17. Let it go dude. Enjoy what’s in front of you.
  18. It hasn’t been pretty for awhile. But he’s still a well above average player even in his current state. He’s getting invaluable experience and will certainly improve. Hope something clicks before the playoffs tho.
  19. I don't think its possible, really. But I'd love to see him do it.
  20. I haven’t studied the pitching rotation to see how to lineup up Gio and Keuchel for the playoffs, but maybe they’re going to go with a 6 man rotation to close out the season to help facilitate that. With ReyLo and JS still on the active roster, appears they’ll both make a start this weekend. Otherwise what’s the point of holding them up?
