I didn’t have high expectations of his offense when he signed. I didn’t expect a lot of power, more good contact and good OBP to balance the struggles vs RHP. His speed and routes in the OF have been pretty bad in my eyes though. I was expecting a much better defender than what we’ve seen so far. It’s still early and he has plenty of time to turn it around. But it’s hard not to see the struggles and not fear another big FA acquisition has come here and fallen flat.

I hope Pedro is getting some good OJT because simply not being TLR isn’t giving them much of a bump so far. He only has so much to work with when guys miss time, but so far I’m not impressed. I’m not predicting 90 losses, but being overly dependent on guys like Hanser and Sheet isn’t a winning formula. The offense doesn’t even have April weather to blame either.

Are people really calling Colas a AAA player and or laying this loss at his feet? Kid is a talented rookie facing mlb pitching full time for the first time. There will be struggles at the plate along with some growing pains. How well he makes adjustments is yet to be seen, but he holding his own just fine for being two whole weeks into his big league career. Take a damn breath.
