I was really wrong on Vargas. I saw him as an underpowered dh. His glove has been average and now he has above average power. 1.8 fWAR already which is 15th in the league. Heckuva player to get for Fedde. My bad.

Antonacci has actually been pretty good as a non-traditional LF. Helps out at the top of the order. If Pereira could stay on the field, we’d get a better read on him. Braden will be up in a month or so to add yet another guy with a decent eye and power but a lot of in zone swing and miss to this team. The fact that they are scoring decently with 4.5 average to above average hitters is a good sign. Get Teel back and get a little more production from of/DH and this team could take off.

Quero’s swing is a mess. Last year, he would let the ball travel. This year, he’s trying to be quick through the zone and is weakly pulling everything. He’s hitting .150 and it’s no fluke. He looks like a .150 hitter.

I don't mind roster churn, I guess. But I would like them to consider giving Ben Peoples a shot. He's been dealing at Charlotte.

Man, the attrition on starters this year has been brutal.

Smith’s delivery was much much better in his final 2 innings. Burke gives me hope that Sox may be able to help Hagen get more consistent. When he finishes, he is hard to hit.

Problem there is he’s a below average runner, which is tough in the outfield. Like everyone else in this org, his best position is probably 2b.

Inning was a disaster for Smith. Tons of pitches. He was not finishing his delivery so leaving pitches away from the righties. Can’t even be a reliever if you’re doing that.

I think you have to promote Bonemer if you want him to adjust. You say you want him to show real mastery over low level pitching, but he has a 187 WRC+. If it ain’t broke, hard for you to convince him to break it. Send him to AA where pitchers will be able to land more offspeed on the outside corner and see if he goes to the opposite field more often. It’s always gonna be a pull heavy approach like Bregman or Paredes, but he went to right more last year. He prioritized power in the offseason and so far he’s being rewarded.

Whew! Quero deserves half that save.
