  1. It also sounds like 3 SD starters are available too (Shields, Ross, Cashner)
  2. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 01:16 PM) Dan Hayes ‏@CSNHayes 20m20 minutes ago On value of sandwich pick -- observer thinks 31-40 in 2016 may not yield an impact player but could produce an evday MLBer. Better than '15. Worth noting, definitely interesting to think about. It should be lower than 31 as guys will give up first rounders to sign guys.
  3. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 10:40 AM) Conversely, I'd be very pissed if this is all they got for Shark and Alexei. I looked up Diaz and I agree with you.
  4. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 10:27 AM) I definitely like your idea of linking Alexei and Samardzija together. I just can't see the White Sox taking his $11 million option. I can see them signing Alexei to a 1 year $4 million deal if they truly feel Anderson isn't ready OR they can't improve this position via a separate trade. I'm ok with him coming back cheap, but I'd also be ok if they let Saladino play short next season as a stopgap.
  5. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 22, 2015 -> 07:18 PM) Way too many Cardinals fans at these games Whatever helps fill our seats
  6. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 22, 2015 -> 07:13 PM) Maybe Sox get Cano as PTBNL....................................... It would have to be a 3-team deal as Cano doesn't play for the Rockies.
  7. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 22, 2015 -> 06:50 PM) It is that time of the year again where nobody cares about the games because we suck and all we care about is the trade deadline and all the speculation Yes Over/under 9.5 pages in this thread?
  8. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 22, 2015 -> 01:55 PM) From what Peter Gammons wrote yesterday, it sounds like the four prospects that Dodgers will not trade in a rental are Barnes, Urias, Seager, and Jose DeLeon. They like Barnes a lot and have and have moved him around the IF to build up some positional flexibility to play 2B and 3B. They are giving him a test out at C now and I would not be surprised to see them sell high on Grandal rather than moving Barnes. I really wanted Grandal the past two off-season because he felt like the type of player they could use. High obp, switching hitting catcher whos young.
  9. Plays like that from Reynolds is why they might be a fit for Laroche
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 21, 2015 -> 05:52 PM) So I'll just say this once and you can trash me for it. I'd remove Robertson. Take best available offer and clear out that contract. Goal: something similar in value to a 2nd round pick. Agree 100%. In the off-season, I didn't want the Sox to sign any reliever to a lot of money. Then they signed Robertson for a lot and then I kind of figured "Well now that he's here, I won't complain as long as he's getting the job done." He's doing his job but it would be nice to clear his salary and potentially receive something for him. He's got what, 3/36 left on his deal?
  11. With more guys being available, I don't see us getting much back for Shark. I think he finishes the season with the team and we collect the draft pick. Lets hope he signs early in the off-season so we can get an earlier pick in that round.
  12. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 20, 2015 -> 06:12 PM) Well when you realize the Sox could've had Kendry Morales or Adam Lind for considerably less it sucks looking at his stats and his salary. Dayton Moore smarter than Hahn/Williams ? Luckier ? If the Sox can dump LaRoche maybe trade for Lind. I'm pretty sure Lind is a free agent after this year. Sox will not trade for him.
  13. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 19, 2015 -> 11:58 AM) I hope Saladino is more than a utility infielder. If Saladino has a good glove and can hit, he can play 2B for the foreseeable future, unless Micah figures out how to play D or Sanchez learns how to hit. Hell, if he hits good over the next two months, you might as well give him the SS position for next year while buying out Alexei's option.
  14. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 09:10 AM) I sure hope not. I'm just gonna lie and say I'm 21. My dad thinks they'll buy it Anyone who's like 16 or younger shouldn't get one since ten years ago, they likely had no idea what was going on lol
  15. Anyone know if they will actually enforce the 21+ for the rings? Going today and want to make sure I get one.
  16. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 07:14 AM) Another theory. They're trying out Montas on MLB pitching to see how he holds his own. If he does well, they'll try him out in the closer role and move Robertson to a contender before the deadline. That would be huge. I'm open to trading Robertson to shed the salary.
  17. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 07:49 AM) interesting..... i like it. I'd like to see him traded first and then possibly brought back in the off-season.
  18. If the Sox potentially see him as a reliever long-term, maybe other teams do too. What if the Sox were showcasing him to package him with Samardzija to a team that needs a starter and another reliever? That would certainly have to interest Houston and Toronto into giving something real up.
  19. Gonna go with yes, but not in a Sox uni. Not saying they trade him now but when he is able to hit open market, they won't pay what it'll take to keep him.
  20. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 14, 2015 -> 03:16 PM) Aramis, like LaRoche has been a 2nd half hitter throughout his career. I would take a gamble on him if it doesn't't cost EJ, Danish, Montas, Adams, Anderson, Hawkins, or Trey. I agree. It would be similar to the Youkilis gamble without giving up anything. Then DH him against lefties and play Beckham at third and release Gillaspie.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 14, 2015 -> 02:08 PM) I know Ned Yost would be pretty happy to miss Chris Sale. Pitching him gives him a chance at that happening. Even if they White Sox lose 100 games, you never know if facing Sale vs. not facing him is a 1 game difference in KC's overall record, and how perhaps what that one game difference means to the Royals at the end of the season. Chris Sale pitching one inning today, a day he would normally do a sidensession anyway, should not have an effect on Chris Sale pitching or not.this weekend.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 13, 2015 -> 10:03 AM) Aren't the comp picks now immediately after the 1st round? Should be more like a #30-40 ranked player then. I'd put it as low as 24 due to teams giving up first round picks for free agents.
  23. QUOTE (coco1997 @ Jul 13, 2015 -> 09:31 AM) ...And sign Buehrle in the offseason. Yep. He'd help save the innings on the young arms and the pen.
  24. We can't rely on winning many games by only scoring 2-3 runs or teams giving us many unearned runs. We need to trade Samardzija for an mlb ready bat or best offer.
  25. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 08:43 AM) I think it's fairly likely that Erik Johnson is in the rotation sooner rather than later. They skipped his previous start in AAA to help manage his innings. I don't see them doing that unless they think there's a good chance he'll be needed on the major league team in the near future. My guess is if they decide they are sellers he replaces Shark and if they decide to hold their ground (or buy) then he replaces Danks. Don't they get a 26th man for doubleheader? Maybe he can start the second game to keep everyone on normal rest.
