  1. I agree. He needs to take a page out of Antonacci’s book. Grind at-bats, work counts, and get on base. That’s all he needs to do. There is enough slugging on this team where he doesn’t need to be a power hitter. That’s not his strength anyway.
  2. Quero isn’t far removed from being a top prospect and a key part of their plans. I think it’s too premature to throw him to the side and put him in a tier with a guy like Romo who has been DFAed multiple times already.
  3. I feel like trading Quero now would be selling him at his absolute lowest value. Gonzalez I could definitely see, though I don’t know if his current slump would create skepticism for other teams looking at him.
  4. That’s the thing though. I don’t know if it makes sense to trade prospects for rentals right now unless they are only giving up some scrub 24 year old in Low-A. Guys with team control would be ideal, but they would cost most in terms of prospects too.
  5. I don’t even really know what this means. How can they trade for any sort of difference makers without parting with notable prospects? If they are just trading Colby Shelton types or whatever, I can’t imagine them getting anyone that good.
  6. The visibility must be awful, very ugly swings for both sides.
  7. The Sox are positioned very nicely moving forward and I would argue the Tigers are the biggest threat in the division moving forward. I would prefer for them to not get more McGonigle’s or top pitching prospects. If sweeping this series makes them go for it, that’s a fine trade off for the Sox.
  8. Not that I wanted the Sox to lose this series, but it honestly is in their best interests in the long term if the Tigers convince themselves they can compete and don’t trade Skubal. Don’t want them to reload their system.
  9. I have no issue with the pinch hitting. I think Venable has actually been pretty good in that regard by putting his hitters in favorable situations. I think the bunting has also been scaled way back of late, which is a good thing. The way he manages a pitching staff is the biggest concern to me. It seems he has no feel. Case in point, leaving Fedde in the game to face Carpenter yesterday and letting Rock die out there today.
  10. Detmers has been incredibly good recently and has 2.5 years left at an affordable salary. It’s not going to be cheap to get him.
  11. It’s the other way around.
  12. That game has made me irrationally angry, but I guess it’s good that I’m upset about a one run loss against Skubal when Fedde was pitching.
  13. Skubal is going to pitch a complete game at this rate.
  14. I don’t think it makes sense to subtract from the MLB team to get a draft pick at this point unless they want to get out of Dominguez’s contract already.
  15. Just take the most talented player and worry about the rest later. If they deem Roch as the best player in this class, they should take him.
  16. I like KenWo. I don’t always agree with him but he’s a true fan and he knows his stuff.
  17. I still don’t know how it could be anyone other than Roch. It shouldn’t take him that long to get to MLB and the fact that he’s right handed is a nice bonus too. I would understand Emerson if his upside was significantly higher, but I don’t think that’s the case.
  18. Seems like one of those players that will never stay healthy. Kind of wish they didn’t trade Hill.
  19. I can’t watch Kay in the rotation for much longer. He’s a situational lefty at best.
  20. He’s been pitching like a #1 lately. His ceiling is definitely higher than a back end rotation guy.
  21. Trading for Gray would remind me of the Lance Lynn trade. A proven veteran who eats innings and protects the younger pitchers. If they do this, I would like them to sign him to a short term extension like they did with Lynn. Maybe 2 years or something.
  22. They have no payroll obligations after 2027 and they know exactly what the weaknesses of this roster are now. They need to use the vast majority of their resources on pitching this offseason.
  23. What about Braxton Ashcraft in Pittsburgh? I was looking through rosters and he caught my eye. He’s a little older, but he’s performing well and has a ton of team control. The Pirates also have a lot of pitching so maybe they’d move him. I’m guessing that would take Bonemer as well though.
  24. Do you actually want Thome in the second? Or do you think they will just take him there because of Jim’s connections to the team?
  25. I wouldn’t be mad if they pulled an Angels and drafted pitching with every pick (after #1 of course). Maybe sprinkle in a couple outfielders too, but pitching is definitely the biggest need of this organization currently.
