  1. Tough starting pitcher dominated our line-up. Guy was insane.
  2. Take on 3-2
  3. Don't swing Quero
  4. Colson Montgomery's HR power, at least for a SS, is elite. He has carried the Sox in certain stretches this season. As with almost any HR hitter, Colson is going to have a lot of K's so patience is required. The big 3 White Sox power hitters are in a HR drought right now. Very frustrating.
  5. Of course AI was used. LOL.It was fantastic for those of us who remember Comiskey. The color enhanced images of the original Comiskey (based on actual b/w photos) were stunning. I only remember Comiskey after Veeck foolishly painted the brick white. Hard to believe Veeck had the great idea to put vines in Wrigley, but he and his son Mike tried to make Comiskey a clown show.
  6. One of, if not, the worst games of the season.
  7. In certain situations including any time a base is open..yes. Then I would add a few unintentional/intentional walks and just pitch around him. Try not to let this guy beat you with a HR with men on base. Then a few high and tight pitches to back him off the plate. It's going to be tough.
  8. Yea you are right, Teel is likely done this year, but no reason to formally shut him down. A better course would be for everyone, especially the sports media, to back off and give him all the space he needs to physically and mentally pursue his rehab. Teel thinks he can make it back in 5-8 wks instead of 6-12. So what?
  9. Cool it men. We have baseball again tomorrow.
  10. Further in line with your observation - Teel's cleats were basically dug into a hole, packed with that soft reddish soil in the home plate area. The turf did not cause the injury, but in my opinion, it sure looked like that may have contributed to it. If I may digress - I recall playing on football fields where wet turf/dirt just packed my spikes and made everything more difficult and more dangerous for planting and cutting. That was then but now, especially in a domed stadium, there is no excuse for a substandard playing surface like that.
  11. IMO, Sox should consider a retractable dome. Something like the ones in Seattle or Toronto. It make all the sense for fans and for the owners. The bad baseball weather days in Chicago seem to increase every year. It has gotten to the point where I will not even think about heading to a game where the forecast is questionable - i.e., hey, raining a bit now but there is a window to maybe get this one in. Then the cold and snow in late March early April, some uncomfortably hot weather or dodging summer rain storms. A retractable dome would be a bigger investment up front, but it would easily pay for itself.
  12. It is nice that Teel wants to recover and return as soon as possible, but I don't expect to see him start games until next year. Three injuries, one after anothe,r would have been hard to fathom, but now it has to make one wonder, how reliable will Kyle be moving forward? My question for him would be what can or will you do differently to try to avoid the kind of injuries you have sustained ? As one of Teel's earliest supporters I am very disappointed with all of this.
  13. Teel may come back sooner than 6-12 weeks?? Would love to see him again this season.
  14. No matter what Chase Meidroth does, it will never be enough for some people. Dude has great bat-to-ball skills and is an excellent 2nd basemen.
  15. Need a catcher that can hit.
  16. Kay kept the Sox in it....barely, but it was good enough.
  17. Great managing by Venable.

The likely season-ending injury to Teel coupled with Schultz, Hagen Smith and others in the Minors looking questionable as rotation pieces has put a hold or maybe, a reverse Vasil-ian spell on the good vibes, at least for me. Teel was probably my favorite player. I met him at SoxFest for a brief conversation last year and he really impressed me as being someone we would really want to be a pillar of this Sox group.
  19. Schultz has had his chances. Yea send him down, but maybe he won' I am a real fan of Noah Schultz and think his dad is the best... but I am now wondering whether Noah has what it takes to pitch in the Majors - the ability to locate pitches in order to execute a game plan. Really disappointed in Noah and Teel. The good vibe that the team had going seems to have ended abruptly.
  20. Roch is a different player with another set of conditioning and diet regimes. But you are right in terms of strength conditioning not having much of a downside. Like anything else though, moderation is the key. Teel gained 20 pounds in just one off-season, partially by his own admission, by increasing his caloric intake, including subs at his Godfather's deli. Maybe too much of a good thing too fast. I had a Godfather deli sandwich from Ambrosino's in Frankfort and had them cut it in half so I could eat the rest later. I'd like to try a KT sandwich at Parkwood Deli.
  21. Some weight training is helpful (i.e., focusing on reps with lighter weights rather than heavy weights) But on balance, Mite is right. Not sure why Teel, or any hitter, would choose to bulk up for power instead of focusing on other things like agility. leverage and bat speed. Teel decided to bulk up, at least in part, in order to gain more power. As to whether that was worth it, the proof is in the pudding. An additional 20 pounds on the same hamstrings, knees, ankles, and Achilles is a lot. Pick up a five pound dumbbell in each hand (let alone 10 lb dumbbells), and then walk or jog holding those, or try a few squats. Setting aside weight gain and conditioning as possibly contributing to repeated injury...look at a replay of the injury. Teel's spikes were loaded with the reddish sand/soil behind home plate. As SS2K noted, it looked like Teel's foot actually dug into that soft sandy soil before he made a move and injured it. Yes, I'm mad, and I'm blaming the Rangers' ground crew as well.
  22. Teel only had 63 ABs post rehab and hit .190 with 2 HR. Holding serve with Quero, who had 150ABs and hit .187 with 2 HR. There were higher expectations for Teel than there was for Quero. Teel chose to gain 20 pounds in the off-season and bulked up with weights. He will have time now to possibly consider a new path forward in terms of his conditioning and diet. Maybe lighter and faster like he used to be instead of heavier and stronger. IMO Getz will not settle for Quero as the primary catcher knowing that Teel is toast until some time next year.
  23. Our thoughts are with Kyle Teel as he faces this next challenge. He was part of a great young team with unlimited expectations and now he isn't.
