Colome is gonna get torched in Coors.

  • He’s still great on tv.  He’s absolutely brutal on Twitter.  He’s a yes man and he’s a condescending jackass on social media.

  • At least they didn't get roped along all off-season only to get Manny Machado's friends and relatives. It could be a lot worse.

  • So I just got a text from a buddy of mine who is very connected (to MLB not necessarily Sox). Said Sox are on fire right now and close on a couple sizeable moves.

I still would like them to add Tepera if Kimbrel is traded….just not a believer still in Crochet, wish that Velocity came back last year.

LH would be nice to allow Crochet to work a long man / spot start role like Kopech.

Ugh....conserve remaining cash for RF/SP....WTF.

lmao are the Sox trying to use openers now or something? Cause holy crap, the bullpen is loaded as-is.

He mentioned Diekman yesterday

That would free up Crochet to be a multi inning guy

I just thought of that. After his down-year last season, he could be a buy-low guy. Plus, we all know how much the Sox like guys with power sinkers.

Assuming Kimbrel is traded you still have Ruiz and Burr there, so one more upgrade would be nice, especially if it's a lefty so Crochet can be a long guy.

Ruiz is out of options and too good to be DFA'd. I think his spot in the pen is secure.

That's how the season will start. Decreased innings for starters.

Ruiz has a 3.94 career ERA, so he's not too good to be DFA, but even so Burr is probably the next man out and not Ruiz.

And Burr still has 2 options remaining.

Trade Kimbrel for a bag of balls to dump salary, trade for Manaea, sign Conforto and Tepera or Diekman and it’s on.  I still can see all of it but Conforto…..

The ERA argument.

I'm not trying to say Ruiz is a stud or anything, but guys who throw 97 don't get DFA'd coming off a year with 65 IP and a 3 ERA. Especially when they're making the minimum.

Fine. He has a 4.2 BB/9 and a 1.46 WHIP. He was better last year and I won't hate it if he's on the team, but he's not a reason to stand pat and not look to improve.

If we got manea, on a scale of 1-10 how happy would you be and why

If the Sox acquire another starter - Manaea?? - there is no room for another BP arm as long as the roster limit is 26. That assumes trading Kimbrel and having to keep Keuchel.

Depends on what we give up, obviously.

If it's for a reasonable return, probably like a 6 or 7.

Yet I would still be antsy they didn’t add a RF

I know it's early but back to the old question....if they don't trade Kimbrel, do they have him close?
