Carlos Perez will be 26 years old Sept 10th. His slash line is .259 .317 .448 .765 with 17 HR's. He is a contact hitter who has 25 walks and only 32 K's in 385 PA this season in Charlotte.

Well, there is no way this makes the team worse.

A+ for the GIF. One of my favorite baseball movies

Seems like an upgrade

I wish Yaz the best

I wonder how quickly they can get him a flight to Cleveland especially with the early game tomorrow. The logistics are interesting to me

Hopefully he gets a chance.

I've done more obscure travel with less notice on a tighter crunch many times.

He'll make it no problem.

I mean, better late than never? But another saying holds true. Too little, too late.

Someone has to get DFA to make room for Perez.

If it's an ACL for Yaz and he's not going to be back before the middle of next season, do you just DFA him rather than hold a roster spot to maybe get a couple months out of him.

Are you even allowed to DFA injured players?

If not, then my guess is Tobias Myers goes.

Injuries to Leury and Grandal have improved the team substantially IMO.

Paging @bmags, code red!

What am I thinking, he is probably driving him to Cleveland as we speak.  God speed man!

I don’t wish injury on anyone, but this move needed to happen a long time ago.  Yaz is done and needs to hang them up.

60 man IL and a DFA in the winter?  I don’t think they’d want the bad PR of cutting him now.

That makes way too much sense. The Sox FO won't be smart enough to figure that out!

I believe this is referred to as the proverbial "A Blessing In Disguise!"

No announcement yet, but the roster page has Carlos Perez on the active roster wearing #21 and Yaz on the 10-day IL. Still 41 guys listed on the 40-man roster.

Crick transferred to 60-day IL. Back to 40.

Kyle Crick to the 60 day DL, so kiss him good bye.

Your contact hitter narrative doesn't stand up under the .259 AVG, 17 HR, and ~.200 ISO.

OK, so 41 are listed because Aybar is still there but he got DFA'd so that's the discrepancy.

But that 8.3% k rate does.
