I believe I heard yesterday that the White Sox have more blown saves than saves. Shouldn't that be kinda hard to do?

2023 Chicago White Sox TWTS (The Will To Save) through August 16

TWTS Score / Player (Saves / Blown Saves)

  1. 4 Kendall Graveman (8/4) - Joined Jose Abreu on the Houston Astros
  2. 2 Gregory Santos (4/2) - Second blown save recorded tonight
  3. 1 Liam Hendriks (1/0) - Hope he can return at some point with the White Sox
  4. 1 Jimmy Lambert (1/0) - Given one opportunity, "nailed it".
  5. 1 Brian "Everyday" Shaw (1/0) - Mid season claim, has second best current roster TWTS score.
  6. 1 Jesse Scholtens (1/0) - Is now a starter because Rick Hahn is total s%*# and there are no pitchers here.
  7. 0 Kenyan "Loose Lips" Middleton (2/2) - Zero, same as his fWAR. Now a pathetic last place Yankee.
  8. -1 Tanner Banks (0/1) - As near worthless as your money sitting in the bank.
  9. -1 Alex Colome (0/1) - Lasted four games here.
  10. -1 Jake Diekman (0/1) - A terrible 2022 Trade Deadline acquisition.
  11. -1 Reynaldo Lopez (4/5) - Joined Lucas to join the Los Angeles Angels
  12. -1 Lane Ramsey (0/1) - Seems like a nice guy. Hopefully better days are in store.
  13. -3 Aaron Bummer (0/3) - Has pitched well, but can't catch a break in many instances.
  14. -5 Joe Kelly (1/6) - He is even more pathetic as a human being than he is at TWTS. Dodgers deserve this s%*#.

Throwing a 1-2 fastball to Morel should get you kicked out of baseball.  Also, please retire Yoan.

How many of the blown saves can be blamed on the god awful pitch calling by White Sox catchers?

No excuse for Grifol and Katz for allowing what happened.  A HR to Madrigal on 0-2 ? Bummer is worthless.

Then Santos grooving Bellinger, walking the tying run, and throwing a meatball center cut pitch to Hoerner in the 9th?

Grifol sat on his ass and watched this happen.

Scorecard:

Of the 16 games the Sox lost where they had a lead in the 7th inning or later here are the pitchers responsible (in some cases it was multiple pitchers in the inning where the lead was lost) Rick Hahn's 'genius" strikes again! 😆

Read em' and weep:

Kelly 5

Graveman 3 1/2

Lopez 2 1/2

Santos 1 1/2

Banks 1

Diekman 1

Lynn 1

Scholters 1

Middleton 1/2

I don’t blame Grifol for today, in all honesty.

He threw 13 strikes on 16 pitches last night.

He also was facing some of the same guys he faced last night....that matters.

Grifol is a baseball moron, slightly more intelligent than a baseball idiot but still shouldn't be managing a major league baseball team.

Well Madrigal homers then Santos gives up the game winner. Six measley hits.

Yeah our Sox blow chunks. No way we were gonna beat a .500ish team 2 nights in a row. and split the season series.

Rick Hahn on the Madrigal trade and resume of his replacement.

  • 1:40: "We wanted to find some stability day in and day out for the lineup in that second base position. Cesar provides us with someone who not only, he obviously comes with a gold glove resume and has found a nice power stroke over the course of the season. As a switch hitter, he provides professional at-bats to go with the solid defense and is a nice balancing factor for this lineup. 217 PA, 3 HR, 0.1 fWAR
  • 2:23: "Lastly Craig Kimbrel, Obviously the resume speaks for itself. As I discussed with Craig, a few weeks ago Kenny and I asked each other of all the players expected to be moved, let's assume we could only acquire one, who would it be? He and I had the same answer, and that was the player we acquired today.23 IP 5.09 ERA 0.0 fWAR

Santos may not have thrown many pitches last night, but he was facing 2 of the three same guys. And he faced what would’ve been the next guy up last night as well.

It’s a good trial to see what he can do in a season that has been a disaster. Just awful pitch selection though.

White Sox fans want to see accountability for this debacle now.  No reason to wait for the end of the season. Hire some interim people to start moving in a new direction. Hahn, Grifol and Katz have no right to have jobs with the White Sox.

Pedro saying this was the worst loss of the season is so pathetic. You’re 25 games under you piece of crap.

Tim Anderson should be so embarrassed by a ton of things, including having less homers than Madrigal.  What a debacle of a year and a half for him.

TA had a decent game defensively including a few key double plays. He probably won't be back next season, but he isn't responsible for the Sox bullpen melting down tonight and in so many other games this season.
