I also hate that he’s not playing SS, but I don’t think this is a case of them deciding Colson can’t play SS. I just think with a lefty pitching, this was a way to get the nine guys Venable wants out there into the lineup.

Not trying to say you're wrong, because the Sox probably do think this way,  but trying to win night to night instead of prioritizing development is asinine.

With those nine guys in the lineup, how would you line them up? Seems like the only other option is Vargas at 3B, Colson at SS, Chase at 2B, and Sosa at 1B. But I’m terrified of Sosa at 1B after dropping a ball that my son could have caught.

Which is also stupid.

It is not like we have a real DH.  Run someone there too.  Rotate them through a day a week and then you still have an offday if you play them 5 of 6 days.

Which part?

I just don't think its smart at all right now to move him off of shortstop. Hes adjusting to big league life. Let him play where he's comfortable so the bat can be the primary focus. I don't think its smart to move him around at all.

I don’t disagree. I want him there, too.

Honestly, his two trades were pretty good.  The problem is this.  He should have made more deals than two.

I find it hard to believe he couldn’t have packaged Tauchmann and civale for something but maybe he thinks it’s better to try and play 400 baseball from here on out and get used to winning a bit. Not sure those goals are mutually exclusive but here we are.

Funny that Tauchman and all of the relievers are still here.

Remember how the Cease trade return was like getting two more prospects back because Steven Wilson was going to be flipped?  Since he was acquired, he has been DFA’ed and hasn’t been traded at two trade deadlines.  🤦🏻‍♂️

I remember he was valuable because he was an established bullpen arm who still had years of control....now it's like, crap how long are we stuck with this guy? Even DFAs don't work...he is the very definition of a bad penny.

I was once told by another poster that just because he was DFA’d and no other team claimed him, that doesn’t mean he has no value, it was just a roster crunch for the Sox and all other teams in the MLB…

I’m shocked that Korey Lee, Mike Tauchman, and some of the relievers are still on the roster. The most important thing for the Sox is getting the best odds at the top pick, they’re not competing this year or next (even if they add).

I also wish they targeted more complex level/low minors type players to add to the next wave of prospects

Probably the same guy who assured me at the last trade deadline that we were gonna get something for him after I posted that he just plain sucked.
