If Grady's a Major League Coach it just confirms my thinking that Daryl Boston wasn't.

Ahhh another Royal..... Drew Butera

Yankees, dodgers, guardians…seems fine

I’ve never heard of a 1B/OF coach, but the White Sox have cornered the market on 1B/OF even if they really aren’t 1B or OF so it makes sense.

Nevermimd, I get it now.

So Grady Sizemore’ role is what exactly?  Is he the heir to Grifol once he’s almost certainly fired after this season.

I think his role is just to help the big league club in any and all areas.

He's the cleaner. The fixer. The spy.

Considering the comparison we saw in sizes between their coaching staff last year and the Cubs staff and front office, "Extra guys slotted somewhere" will have plenty to do.

Daryl Boston had the same responsibilities. Serve as 1B coach on offense, and coach Vaughn, Sheets, Lamb, Eloy and others how to play RF (as if that could or should be done)

They either have one or two unannounced positions, or have cut two and thus have the same number of coaches year over year.

That's a coach that coaches the Major Leagues.

This would be a really solid start imo if they had a different manager and maybe a different bench coach.

Having someone with the explicit title of "Major League Coach" makes me wonder about the bona fides of the other coaches.

Let's not forget Brian Bannister as pitching adviser.  He might be the most important coach/advisor acquisition of all.

Chris Young, GM for the Rangers, played on the Royals 2015 championship team. He's avoided hiring anyone from there!

Let’s hope he and Katz can make progress with the current staff and acquisitions.

Open the wiki page of Butera or Rodriguez and what do you see?
An image of a certain  monarchal team that is also present in the resumes of all but 1 or 2 of the coaches.

And a different GM and a different owner who wouldn't let his old buddy interfere with baseball operations.

To distinguish from anyone who deals with minor league prospects...whether as a roving instructor or role like Mike Gellinger used to occupy.

He was actually far more accomplished than Getz but had major health issues that blocked his career advance.
