March 18, 20242 yr The good news is that no one is ever amped up on opening day, so we don't have to worry about him overthrowing things or over stressing that arm. We also can count on the manager to be responsible about his pitch count and innings count.
March 18, 20242 yr Well...this is the diametrical opposite of the SoxTalkers consensus of holding him down at Charlotte to claim back a year of control.
March 18, 20242 yr March 27th looks like pretty much the same weather as currently in Chicago... Maybe JR is trying to get the most relievers possible into the game with one of the best opportunities of the season to sell concessions and souvenirs.

March 18, 20242 yr This is probably because he is one of our only pitchers with electric stuff. I'd love to sit in the stands and hear all the stereotypical older south side fans (isn't it true baseball's demographic is 55 and up gentlemen?) fans express displeasure at the thought of an opener pitching the opener.
March 18, 20242 yr I love this. Almost forgot he existed. One exciting thing to watch in the rotation.

I expect nothing else from balta logic.
March 18, 20242 yr Getz seems to have a plan. Let him throw 80 or so innings by the end of July / mid-August and shut him down. Piggy back his starts with Kopech in behind him for the same thing and see if there could still be value. Hopefully the pitch count sits around 85 per start and we call it season.

If he throws only 80 innings he wouldn't even be able to top 150 next year.
March 18, 20242 yr Same as it ever was, same as it ever was Same as it ever was and look where my hand was….
March 18, 20242 yr This is great. The naysayers bending themselves into pretzel shapes inventing reasons why this is bad is worth it, alone.
