Not sure why Stone continues to back Vaughn like he is a relative but no time to play favorites. Vaughn invariably fails in clutch situations, so much so that it has become maddening. Scouts have had the book on him for years and that book continues to work time and again. Enough already. Give someone else his at-bats. I mean just looking at Vaughn he's never put the work in on his body needed. He's the same 5-10 175 he was as a rookie. Vargus put the time in and look how thick he is now, Vaughn not so much. Completely overrated. Wrong sport. How many legends trained to look like an NFL SS? I often wonder if this creates the brittleness of modern MLB players. You can't condition skill to a point. kitekrazy
3 hours ago, Princess Dye said: i dont buy Vaughn is lacking any effort anyone else has. Could very well be he did workouts separately from the Osik group. the main takeaway here is MLB is super difficult and high draft picks bust all the time. during Vaughn's career MLB pitching underwent a total sea change and there was no adaptation made to that This organization excels at that with position players. Getting it wrong most of the time sets an organization back years. It's much harder to get it right in baseball but drafting a 1b with no skill set or the 2nd coming of Harry Chappas with bone headed ability to run the bases doesn't help. So to make up those mistakes you trade young pitching but yet it's kicking the cab down the road. Farm rankings are pointless. They can't fill a team even if these prospects live up to their value. Soon they will revert back to the never ending hole in CF. Weaknesses wont be a bigger issue if you have 3 all star type players on the field. Quin
5 hours ago, chitownsportsfan said: Just an odd career path, one that peaked really at age 23. He was bad but not horrific in LF and had the highest EV of his career and his highest xwOBA as a rookie. He's been horrific at 1B and although he's changed his swing to try and get more LA it hasn't resulted in any meaningful improvement in his overall offensive output. He doesn't take his walks and cheats on fastballs leaving him vulnerable to junk away and fastballs in. It all adds up to a guy that after today's game will have 2400 MLB PA and been replacement level or worse for his career. The White Sox are pioneers in the field of negative player development.
WBWSF
This is really an odd situation. The team has had trouble scoring runs and yet they won't bring up their best hitter (Elko) from the minors. I'm beginning to wonder if he'll be brought up before September.

Remember just last week Getz said something along the lines of they only prioritize players who may be able to help them long term. I saw that and immediately thought that leaves Elko out. The downside to Getz collecting a bunch of players that no other team wants is that they always come back like zombies. 🧟 🤮 So Benintendi DH’ed a handful of times and Maton was previously pretty much our primary DH, but Elko can’t get a call-up? What a clown shoes operation Getz is running. Even Getz supporters have to question this stupid roster management. NBC Sports take on this move. No one understands the roster decisions this team makes anymore. 🤣 Quote White Sox selected the contract of INF Nick Maton from Triple-A Charlotte. The White Sox are bring back Maton for another stint instead of slugging prospect Tim Elko for reasons that are unclear. The 28-year-old returns to the big leagues with Andrew Benintendi hitting the injured list with a calf strain. He hit .173 (9-for-52) with two homers and four RBI in 23 games earlier this season before being removed from Chicago’s 40-man roster. Lip Man 1
Like I said Getz seemed to make it clear based on his comment about helping long term that Elko is not in their plans. Why these other stiffs and has been's keep getting chances are beyond me.
