Slater's savant numbers are really good. But while he hit the crap out of the ball a lot, I felt like he had some shitty luck hitting it right to people or flying out to the warning track in center. Even with that, he's a really good platoon bat.

Lots of opposite field warning track shots it seems.  Could benefit him a ton playing in NY.

Most people? LOL.

Yes, there were quite a few posts about people suggesting Hays.  Getz jumped on Slater almost immediately as his self-proclaimed “number one target of the offseason” which likely put an end to any interest in the now history-proven better option in Hays as a righty outfielder.

If Slater could bring back a #18 prospect, it’s fairly obvious that Hays would have returned more value than that.

Yeah that porch might do him some good.

Like Mike Tauchman?

The consensus about this trade generally seems to be positive yet you feel the need to throw barbs over longstanding past grudges.

Like, we get it dude, you just want attention, but this s%*# just isn't necessary.

I mean I would like to see a trade return that shows this first.  But sure, pop off.

I really hope he is traded now.  If the Sox could get this kind of return for Slater, you have to assume Tauchman is worth more.  Hopefully the Sox don’t just retain Tauchman because he’ll be a cheap starting RF option for next season.  That would be a mistake and a joke.  Sell high and see what Danger Will can do for the rest of the season starting in RF.  There will be other options than Tauchman for what will likely be another losing season regardless.

I don’t have a problem with return, will say I have never enjoyed trading with Yankees. They tend to be very good at self scouting and keeping who is worth a damn

Like Rutherford.

The Yankees are all of 2 games better than the Sox since May 30th. They are not in any world a 1 WAR platoon guy away from even winning the division. Cashman and Boone are both on the hottest of NYC summer seats.

The Yankees are 4 games out of first and hold the top wildcard spot, they're in the playoff picture every year. Those teams don't give two shits about trading their 18th ranked prospect to bolster their roster for a playoff run.

Meanwhile, the White Sox trade a top 10 organizational prospect for a 26 year old no ceiling OFer coming off a 101 loss season. In what world should any Sox fan be shading the Yankees for attempting to upgrade their playoff caliber roster?

Just noticed that Spencer Jones is having a big year in AA/AAA.  I know a lot of folks weren't sold on him when his name came up in the past (last year?).

He has the worst batting stance I've ever seen. It makes Eloy's look cool.

His strikeout rate is still a big concern, and that was part of it last year.  But yeah, he’s probably the prospect we can only wish for Wolkow to become.

Turn on WFAN get outside the JR box as a fan. I’m shading however I please! The Yankees should be doing better.

I won't argue that, but then again I have no idea what its like to be a fan of a team that demands excellence.

Some teams demand excellence and spend money.  Others are mired in mediocrity and bargain shop for TWTW.

Yeah, this is actually looking like a pretty good trade. More of this, please.
