4/7/26 Orioles @ White Sox 2:10 Chicago Time. Shane Smith SP

Very strange outing for Shane. I find the low velocity in the 4th inning to be concerning but maybe he's just not very stretched out to throw 100 pitches yet. He was averaging 96mph in the first, 92 in the fourth. Arsenal in general was quite different from last time out...interesting to see him throw so many curveballs to right-handed hitters.

Was interesting to hear what Bannister had to say about it. In his quest to get better he may have accidentally made himself worse.

    It looks like this: Rogers,2-0 1.38era Smith,0-2 19.29era

  • I just hope Smith doesn't get rocked again.

yeah, I caught a lot of 93s along the way. Trying to figure out if he was holding back for movement, because everything was moving like CRAZY, or if something is up.

I just think he flat out had no control at 96-97, and had to dial it down.

Or that 107 to the calf he took, made it a bit painful to drive the leg on the heat.

Living on the edge in this one!

Was a pretty good play from Lenyn there, but Newcomb didn't get over quick enough. A lot of lefties struggle to cover that against a decently fast baserunner.

Newcomb was a great addition

No idea why Quero wouldnt challenge that but guess it worked out

Smith's 3.2IP, 1H, 0ER, 5BB, 8K line officially a first in MLB

Seemed like he was just trying to find some kind of control with the fastball. I am sure the cold doesn't help either

He has one challenge left.

Ah didnt know that. Still, bases loaded with Alonso up, probably not a bigger situation in the game there. Still worked so whatever.

Glad they only have 1 challenge left too, because I'm pretty sure Colson struck out on 1-2.

And it doesn't matter, he just does it anyways....lost right now.

To defend Quero, the most ineffective challenger in MLB per Statcast, there was no pitch in the Alonso at bat that he could have won a challenge on.

Tv had the 2nd pitch well in the zone but fair enough then

Just checked in on the game. I see Smith throwing the ball in the dirt with bases loaded in the 2nd inning and 50+ pitches. Send him down. I'd rather watch Cannon.

I agree. He was lousy all through ST. Now 3 starts.

Nobody want to throw strikes?

what the heck lol

Feel like Acuna could have dove and caught that

defensive positioning has been questionable this year

Everyone that could have covered second watching him barehand that instead of playing defense

Very glad that nobody covered second there because Newcomb was ready to initiate a disaster

Catch the fucking ball Quero!
