You only have Mune for 1.5 more years. You can’t assume anymore than that. It would be great if 100% of our players were home grown but it wouldn’t hurt to trade some and bring in somebody.

You need at least one more SP, assuming Schultz keeps his spot. You have Shane Smith, Adams, Thorpe, McDougal, Sandlin. Trade two of those for a known commodity.

None of those prospects would move the needle to get you a known commodity. Plus with them coming back from injuries, not sure how much value they have. Also moving cost controlled pitching for less control isnt ideal. Plus could slide some of those guys to pen.

We have no excuse not to buy a top-end SP in free agency this offseason. As such, I’d rather keep Bonemer and go with a cheaper SP at the deadline. I truly believe we should not be doing “all-in” trad

Gonzo can go back down to Charlotte and stop his arb clock once Mune is back. That's fine. He just got a nice pay pump for 6 weeks or whatever and now he knows he close he is and what he has to contin

Compared to last year, and with the potential cba issues in the fall, do people think teams are going to be asking for more for their players or less, and is taking on less money going to be more valuable or less?

I have felt like for a few years, positional prospects are now worth a ton. The idea of trading Bonemer means sox would be going after a top player with control. But looking at most deals last year, they were pitcher prospects or positional players ranked 10+ in the system.

So much depends on what JR allows him to do.

Extending Mune would be a good start and requires no draft capital.

That would be nice but remember it takes two to make a deal. His agent may think the best course of action is to go FA and see what develops.

I love this year being termed as house money with baseball up in the air next year. Definitely a good idea to take this year for granted. I'm sure it'll be easily replicated in a shortened year if all goes well.

2020?

Grab the best starting pitcher you can for Carlson and go to war. Improve if possible elsewhere on the margins with a right handed catcher or something like that.

Otherwise, just rely on bringing more kids up.

We drafted a high school SS who is a superb defender and will need some time to develop offensively. Then in his first year in the minors, he gets hurt and hasn’t had a chance to develop yet. And we want to trade him right now for the best starting pitcher we can get? I just can’t get behind that idea. Seems like this would be selling at his lowest possible value.

Lowest current value. Lowest possible would be like Gonzo as a hitter after being in the system a couple years before Charlotte. He still was a high draft pick and is a premiere defender.

0 hr/11 rbi 727 ops and on the injured list in A ball isn't going to get you much in way of controlled starting pitching

I do not entirely ascribe to the idea that the White Sox are "playing with house money" this season, or in any season. So they have already exceeded expectations ...so what. Never rest on the promise of the future at the expense of the present, in sports, or in life. We have a special team right now - a solid group of players whose skill sets and personalities compliment one another. With a few breaks and some luck, they can win.

Sorry for that...but with all the talk about prospects, come Friday, it will be time to focus on winning now.

A healthy Shane Smith, Everson Perira, and Edgar Quero added to the roster isn't looking so bad. So many sellers are now either buyers or holding steady.

Can you really count on any of these guys right now? Two are trying to return to some form of usefulness and one is hurt constantly.

I have no answer on Perira's concussion, it is disturbing and beyond baseball my hope he will be ok. Assuming he does come back he would be an upgrade over Perez against LP. Shane Smith has been getting back to his old form as of late and would be a nice addition. I would take Q over Romo right now.

If CMont keeps swinging at balls and then taking a fastball right down the middle for strike three, he

might be the guy traded. .300 OBA is too low. He has to be more selective. His defense is starting to show

cracks as well. It looks like the league has him figured out.

He's one year in the league with 23 HRs and 53 RBIs and a 772 OPS with good defense at a primary position. He's not getting traded.

Sox should push in and try to make it happen this year. There’s no need to trade a major prospect to do it.

We know better than most that tomorrow is never guaranteed. It’s not wise to assume everyone stays good/improves.

I just saw a trade hypothetical of the guardians getting Robert and it made me so mad.

Why? In that scenario, if anyone should be sad, it should be Guardians fans.
