Is it bad that I like the Bart trade and is one of my favorites? Maybe it's because I hate Romo so much

We have no excuse not to buy a top-end SP in free agency this offseason. As such, I’d rather keep Bonemer and go with a cheaper SP at the deadline. I truly believe we should not be doing “all-in” trad

Trevor Bauer is an awful clubhouse fit even if you believe him innocent of any criminal wrongdoing. I also don’t understand why anyone would think a 35 year old pitching in the Nippon League or where

It's much more fun when your favorite team is buying and not selling. Of course it would even be more fun if your team wasn't owned by Jerry Reinsdorf.

He's a +0.4 WAR player this year. Better then anything we have and upgrade over romo while Teel gets healthy

1.3 WAR upgrade over Quero and 1.0 over Romo!

I actually think he's done quite well. Only one I'm confused by is Doyle.

Do I think we are actually much better than Friday? No.

But if you just wanted to leave this without feeling too hurt, you probably are ok. If, like me, you think teams should try to get better during the deadline, you may be disappointed.

Guess the Yankmes get Stephenson and the price was something we weren’t willing to match.

The actual competitors for the AL have all gotten better. Besides the bullpen I am not sure we really have

Wait until it’s Quero who goes down

Also we did more than pretty much the whole division combined

Yep, that’s the biggest issue today

His wRC+ is like 40-50 points higher than both of our catchers and we gave up a guy we DFA'd anyway. Not sure how it's supposedly a bad move

They clearly wanted to thread a needle, idk if that’s the right call over all, but I’m okay with the result given the strategy.

Curious if they can find a new home for Hays (or Grich, I guess, but he seems to have really ingratiated himself with the clubhouse)

Let's see. still 50 mins to go.

I mean that's cool but 40-50 points higher from the 9 spot is like...not that noticeable.

Am I crazy for preferring this? Quero can't be trusted to block anything.

people saying that Bart is better than Romo, are you assuming that Romo is the one that's going to be sent down and not Quero? I know Noah said he likes when he catches him but it doesn't matter what he wants to be honest, in Romo is a better framer too. in fact I don't think quero does anything good honestly

I dont know that they are much better then Friday, but I also think this is a pretty good team as is. The glaring hole for me was a starting pitcher and some sort of catcher with a pulse. I think they upgraded both positions. I will be annoyed if Quero is the one going down because I think he's shown some signs of life at the plate where as Romo does absolutely nothing well in my eyes.

I think we are better. Castillo is better than our 4/5 pitchers, we got a better RP than Seranthony, and we got a better catcher than Romo. Doyle has upside and is more proven than Periera. Is it massively better, no. But its better and we lost nothing of substantial value. The sox shouldnt be in complete go for it mode at this point. If Castillo reverts to his form of the last 5 years than this team is good enough to make a run in the playoffs.

BART........+0.4 WAR 86 OPS+

Good defensive metrics

Nothing to write home about but much better then we have now

I couldn't disagree with this more. It goes from a .492 OPS auto-out to a .680 OPS, which is basically in between Derek Hill and Braden Montgomery. It's not great, but at least it's a real MLB hitter

They’re better in that the gaping holes in the roster are now more like potholes.

Are we done or 1 more pitcher coming?
