Noah Schultz & Kyle Teel set to begin rehab assignments next week

Featured Replies

JR finally had the sense and courage to show Hahn and KW the door and hire Getz. That is why this team is where it is at now. Great support from ownership (signing Mune), talent evaluation, player promotions from the Minors, and prescient trades.

We really, really need Schultz to pan out. Him being a good pitcher this year is crucial.

It's crucial to them making a run this year. It's not crucial to his career. He isn't a finished product yet

Shane Smith and McDougal are also headed to rehab assignments. Pitching depth may be right around the corner.

I just came here to see if anyone mentioned this too. I knew I had also heard that.

A healthy Shane Smith would be an absolute godsend.

I assumed this was the reference. Also, here’s a Tosh.0 web redemption. Apparently the guy is now a successful local newscaster.

I don't know about godsend, but any live arm with any history of success we can use. We're at least one SP and a setup guy short. He was awful before he got hurt, so who knows if last year was a fluke but we don't have anybody else really blowing up his spot assuming he's ready to go in 2 weeks. Could send one of our billion lefty relievers down or DFA.

Shane Smith is the last thing a winning team needs in their rotation. Sox need another top of rotation starter in order to win, not a salvage project.

Depends on which version you get. Smith had high’s & low’s last year, but was legit awesome to end the season. If you get that version, he’s a legit #2 starter. The problem is you may not get more than the AAA fodder version of Shane. But if he can back to AAA fairly quickly, there is plenty of time to see what you have in him before the deadline.

if they can fix Shane's mechanics, I definitely want him back in the rotation

If they fix Shane Smith, he could also lengthen out the pen. Adding a guy with a killer change who can throw 100 would not be bad.

Let’s hope everyone else stays healthy too

Great support from ownership lol. Im pretty sure they had to beg uncle jerry to open his clutches of the coin purse to sign him. Tho now he gets to reap the money from them playing well and possible contention.

1 year ago, 6/17/25, Shane was eating innings and had a 2.85 era.

His ERA jumped up quite a bit in June & July, but dropped a bunch after that to end the season. Regardless, the talent to be a really good starter is in there. His 2.2 fWAR last year does not reflect the type of ceiling he has. If the Sox can fix him, which is a big question mark, he’d huge addition for this club.

The Cardinals, Dodgers, Arizona, and Coors Field were not kind to Shane's era.

This is Jerry's team. You are either for him or against him. Against? OK. The buck stops with him and his ball club is winning. That is an inconvenient truth some are having a hard time dealing with. Oh well.

They usually win despite him being owner. Rocking a solid $100M payroll (according to Spotrac). "Great support from ownership" LOL

Hilarious.

Are they starting their rehabs this week? I haven't seen any news about this.

It was announced they were doing rehabs, but not where they are going. Could be Complex league or one of the A ball affiliates.

Ian from Future Sox said A ball for both, but wasn’t sure if high or low

You don’t get to tell anyone any of this. Stop being a gatekeeping putz, nobody cares
