This is 90% Martin's fault imo.

I'll give Fedde 40%

I mentioned it around the deadline, but this has kind of a 2020/2012 vibe where the pitching was extended past where their talents and abilities were, and it wouldn't surprise me if a lot of these guy

  • pitch chart of a guy who has absolute control of his fastball and would never miss way away from the zone unless he was sending a message

Fedde isn't to blame for this. It's all on DFAvis Martin

Come on now, Fedde absolutely has blame here

This game got out of hand fast

Don’t miss with your fastball at the guys head two times in a row and it’s not an issue. Sometimes it’s ok to blame a Sox player for sucking.

Well I've never seen an ejection that bad in my life. I'd like the players to play and see how it goes. At least Jose Quintana was intentionally throwing behind a guy when he got tossed. Very possible Davis was on the verge of letting it blow up in a similar fashion, but we didn't get to see that timeline unfortunately. And if that was going to happen, the ejection hurts the Sox in the long run because we have to wait around even longer to see what Davis looks like in a full-length outing.

Let’s just hope this beat-down today doesn’t mean another bumbling loss tomorrow. Otherwise the lead may be only a game and a half.

I mean...he didn't get traded to anyone

I don’t think anyone went after him besides the Sox. Yankees were never in on him.

I think it's clear the Reds were asking way too much for just about everyone

Now, if we learn postgame that Davis got himself tossed via some other kinds of words or deeds besides the pitches, then that's totally on him

Did the Reds trade anyone?

Well it’s now 8-4. Only good thing about that is the 4th inning. The bad is Fedde still has to pitch an inning or 2 more. Then we go to Detroit and thank God Skubal won’t be there. and then Wrigley to face the red hot Cubs. Next 6 after this one will see if we are contenders or pretenders

Losing 2 to the Reds at home after we have had to face so many tough teams is such a gut punch

Tomorrow's starter is TBA right? I assume Sox are going to have to call somebody up to cover that game?

Easy mode for Abbott now as our hitters press to try and score runs.

One step forward, one step backwards.

I don’t think any of that type of stuff can be believed one way or another.

Both were bad today, one was extra ass. Don't let your blinders for Davis Martin's recent performance, make you put the blame there. Fedde has nothing, and has had nothing since being in the bullpen. He wasn't that much better as a starter, despite what folks may think.

Martin and Fedde is a bad combination

Put Martin's ass on the IL.

Terrible

Thanks for keeping this one off my permanent record Ron.

It happens. It's a long season

Shame they blew that first game. Shame that Martin sucked and got tossed today when the offense has been doing their job. Oh well - reds have a bad bullpen. See if you can get the starter out and get to it.

He might be suspended anyways by that point.

Yep, you’re right and he deserves it. Don’t go head hunting because you are frustrated with your own performance. Putting yourself and your own ego above the team. Weak ass p**** move.

Too many walks and gopher balls.

Have to also mention that a lot of those relief appearances are "bulk" outings where he's getting starterish innings but coming in for a carefully selected part of the order. I'm not super mad at Fedde in general, he's more or less done what has been asked this year but he's a marginal major leaguer. It's been marginal production. It's better than sub-marginal production. Not as good as good production.

Urquidy pitched the 9th. Thorpe pitched yesterday.

Those weren’t misses.

Crap was hoping Randall could cut the lead in half there.

I guess just let Fedde wear this one now
