We need to put some distance between us and Cleveland and Minnesota. Too close for comfort

We need Burke to come back to form tonight and let's win the series.

Winning this game would win the season series vs Texas which would be a good tiebreaker to have in a wild card scenario.

Correct. Although we already have a massive advantage against them in tiebreaker #2, which is division record.

Rangers are 20-26 vs AL West

Sox are 23-13 vs AL Central

Highly likely we win a tiebreaker vs Rangers, even with a loss today.

IIRC we were 7 over .500 for a day, and then promptly got swept. Lets try this again starting with getting to 7 over today.

I’ve been pining for 8 games over since we reached 7 before. LFG - get to 7 and then this time I’ll be looking at 10 in sight!

Well, off day tomorrow after 16 straight. Either they come out on fire tonight knowing they're off tomorrow or they're already mentally checked out and thinking about some couch time.

It would be a great day for Burke to return to form, and for the offense to build on last night's long-awaited outburst. Win today and make it back-to-back series wins against a red hot Mets team and a team that came in as a division leader.

Unfortunately they'll be spending at least part of that much needed "off" day traveling to Minnesota. ☹️

Oh god - I hope they can bounce back from that 40 minute flight and at least salvage the last game of the series

Probably less than 3 hours total travel time from wheels up to settling into their hotel. They will be fine. I'm sure they are all looking forward to it. I guess only decision is if they want to leave tonight or tmr morning. I'd guess the team decided to leave in the morning, get one more sleep at home.

Don't most teams travel immediately after the game ?

Seems like it, but there's no rush here being so close relatively with an off day. I wonder if the players decide when to leave in a situation like this or if it's management. Maybe a bit of both?

Win tonight. Win the series. All is good!

Tigers lost, helps our playoff chances fractionally. All adds up.

Yes, one of the factors that hasn't been discussed enough is that it's not just about the size of the lead, it's the number of teams chasing you. For a long time it was three, which is a lot and virtually guarantees that somebody from the field is going to make a run. I'm hopeful that our sweep began the process of knocking the Tigers out; that's one down. I'd like to knock Minnesota out next. Then it's a one-on-one battle against Cleveland where we control our own destiny.

The flight to MIN is currently scheduled for tomorrow afternoon, so that's an extra sleep at home, no rush in the morning, and wheels down before 5pm leaving plenty of time to get your stuff to the hotel and find somewhere nice for dinner.

And they’re also less of a threat if they beat up on the Guardians, etc

This is the "Yoan Moncada one more night in eastern Indiana" plan. Not really but you know that mofo was always advocating for it. Probably asked Manfred to schedule the Braves.

What a lineup. Why Meidroth at cleanup?

Cool with Monty getting 2 days off in a row. Come back strong in Min

Yeah I've decided I wouldn't hate a Luis Robert claim (I can't believe I'm saying this) for when rosters expand. Just to play against lefties.

At this point you are in the 3 to 4 million dollar range, not including his option. It's not much honestly.
