9/2 GT, Sox vs. Astros, 7:10. Keep 'em Separated

In my opinion the best managers use analytics but don't live and die by it, they also have a feel for the game and their team. Will seems to not have a feel for the game nor his team, IMO

Sox just need to avoid a sweep in Cleveland, and their chances of winning the division are very high. A sweep gives Cleveland 3 games in the standings, plus the tiebreaker. Essentially, 3.5 games gai

That was terrible.

Per Venable, they discussed pinch running for Romo but decided against it because he is such a good baserunner and was catching a great game.

Haha, Ozzie just called Venable out on his comments — “We decided” or “I decided”? Ozzie said that if the entire coaching staff decided to not pinch-run for Romo, then they all made the wrong decision.

🤣🤣🤣

Bring back Oz!

Why does Sox mgmt seem to love Romo more than anyone else on the roster?

Venable is a bonehead but it’s hard to win baseball games when you don’t score any runs. Damn near impossible 🙃

I’ll bet Pham was the first one to leave after the game. What the hell can he possible add to the locker room other than look sad.

Way less concerned about his attitude in the clubhouse

Venable: “He’s a good baserunner.”

Ozzie: “Not tonight he wasn’t.”

Sometimes it seems that way

Another beef I have is that I would like to see mngmnt play some more old school baseball and coach the players to play small ball in certain situations. Like when Peters was on 3rd with no outs, how about at least try to decoy as if Romo is gonna lay down a squeeze? Try to confuse the defense as to what the Sox are trying to do, hit and run, double steals etc. I haven't seen any of that, my point is not look predictable. I really believe had the Sox scored Peters, we likely see them win 1-0. I don't know but Will needs to shake things up a bit.

The good news is that Martin pitched well, that's a big positive.

More good news is the Cleveland and Baltimore lost.

But this offense since the ASB in general has left a lot to be desired.

Also someone pointed this outlast week I think, two out hits driving in runs. Again tonight by an opponent.

Let's see what they can do Thursday.

At least they won't get swept.

Major fade incoming.

Awful decision. If Acuna was running instead of Romo, he would have scored. You need to play for the win in a tied game in the 8 th.

I didn't realize catchers pitched too. Let's not pretend that the pitch sequence to Velasquez was any good. They've been scared to throw him a high fastball since he hit the homer in game 1. He guessed right once, doesn't mean he will guess right every time.

I'm not surprised he's making the peters comment. He's not going to throw his players under the bus. Have a feeling there are different discussions in the clubhouse

Romo is not a better base runner than Acuna or even Doyle. Ozzie was also quoted a few days back: “Who is this guy Drew Romo he is not good”. Romo is still batting around .140, halfway between the Maldonado and Mendoza lines.

There was not going to be a double play. There was no one covering second with the drawn up infield.

He also just missed a slurve in his first at bat

They were playing in and Sam was running to 1st, they weren't going to get a double play especially with Pena looking Peters back. All he had to do was fake a couple steps and go back

I don’t blame Peters. If they turned a DP and he didn’t score, that would have been the worst case scenario. Have a way bigger issue that Antonacci looked to be hitting a ground ball when the infield is in.

Yeah. Sammy's approach was bad

I think Pena could have stepped on 2nd there. But no guarantee he gets Ant at first.

Considering we scored nothing tonight, tomorrow's pitching matchup is going to be even tougher.
