Didn't even bother turning this game on after last night. Detroit is going to sweep these bums. Season was all smoke and mirrors. Another poorly managed, poorly coached team. Awful trade deadline made

From PNoles:

"The route: Taking into account where Sam Antonacci was positioned, Brayan Rocchio’s walk-off hit had an 85% catch probability and rated as a 2-star play. So while it’s not a gimme, he should have caught the ball. He’s just not a good left fielder because it’s not his natural position."

Peters should have been in left at that point. Rochio ends the game with a fly out to left.

I like todays lineup. Mune needs a wake up call.

You dont think he already knows he's been bad?

He knows he has been bad. He just didn't believe he could get benched.

From the Sun-Times, talking about Muni:

‘‘It’s not like moving him in the lineup is going to magically fix his swing,’’ Venable said. ‘‘As you look at how we’re compiling our lineups and want to give yourself the best chance, he’s still a part of that.’’

This is just my personal opinion, last night was a soul crusher.

Just win five more games to become the first team to go from a 100 loss year to a winning one in consecutive seasons.

Anything over and above that is gravy in my book.

But frankly right now, I don't know if they can even do that as in win five more games.

We'll see.

Yup. I hope this game doesn't matter, but to me it's the first blatant example of Venable screwing them over multiple times with his decisions in a big situation.

Sam took it upon himself to position himself to play ridiculously shallow and lean toward Center. Rocchio saw the gap and dumped the ball out there. Arguably it was the Manager's responsibility to call for a "no doubles defense" and motion Sam to play back.

It is too simplistic to blame Sam for not having the physical skills to play the outfield. He can play out there but he has to be smarter. He took it upon himself to make a decision that cost the game.

Astros game not having someone run for Romo was terrible

He shouldn't have been in the game at that point.

Yeah, but that's still one of those marginal managerial decisions that they all make. Murphy opening after already opening twice against the Guardians and getting tagged last time was a terrible decision that cost them three runs, pinch hitting BMont when he's not hitting and it makes your defense worse is a bad move, and Taylor seemingly cannot record 2 out saves without giving up runs. Just not putting your players in the best position to succeed, and that's pretty much all a manager is responsible for.

What is worse.......

Mune Striking out with guys on base

OR

Pham grounding into a Double Play

???

Those are the most likely outcomes

LOL I hope so bro.

When Sox stuck Sam out in left field months ago, because he could hit a little bit, we all knew there would be a few misplays. We just didn't know it would be in 9th inning, down two with two on. That one is on the Mgr.

I feel like PNoles read my post from an hour before his. The wording is too similar.

Why in the world would anyone be in “no doubles” in that situation?

No reason to pinch hit Brayden (who is not hitting ) for Doyle with a lead in the 6th. That cost us the game

Positioning was a huge issue, and taking out Doyle was an issue

Have physical therapy this afternoon on the shoulder then have an appointment to see my surgeon.

Will check in later to see how this one turns out.

Frankly I'm not getting my hopes up but that's why they play the game...anything is possible.

I don't have a problem cheating in there because you're guarding against a single winning the game for Cleveland. Had Rocchio lined it in front of Antonacci playing normal depth we would be questioning why he wasnt playing shallower.

The problem is that the catch was fairly routine and Sam took a terrible route to it.

Yep. Took Doyle out of game. Had to leave Sam in. Manager cost the game. Does Getz say anything to him?

well here goes nothing
