Ventura on his job status

It's sickening.

manger checklist:

1) team looks sharp (epic fail, keystone cops on the bases, no patience as a lineup, constant mental miscues)

2) don't actively make game losing tactical decision (epic fail, bunts with 2 on no out even with two strikes, makes an inexcusable no challenge today)

3) handle media and don't throw guys under the bus (blames replay team postgame)

EPIC FAIL 3 STRIKES YOU'RE OUT SUCKER.

1. should be -----make sure there is plenty of food.

I remember I supported the hiring of Ventura but I've been calling for his head for at least a year already.

Ventura is actually aware of the fact Jose Iglesias is 3rd in hitting and 9th in ops for all of MLB, right?

At least now he might be...hopefully.

Realistically, what are the odds Ventura is fired before, say, July?

June?

August?

Does anyone think we'd actually let him go?

The pressure to fire Ventura will be directly proportional to how disappointing the Sox are. So, hopefully, it isn't an issue.

The defeated Sox fan in me thinks it will, though. Probably after the season is over.

What are the odds Samardzija will want to stay here if this year is an epic fail and Ventura continues to look clueless AND the front office does nothing about it ?

Pathetic. Online petitions never work. It's akin to a child throwing a tantrum. If it has ANY effect, it will be the opposite, to show they don't bend to public scrutiny.

Something I found interesting is that some of the Chicago media members that always preach patience and small sample size were on the radio Wednesday blasting Ventura for the Eaton decision. It's easily the earliest in a season I've heard criticism towards him on the radio.

It wells deserved. Pitcher walks and hits a batter . First mistake was squaring right away. Eaton should have made him throw a strike . Maybe he throws a wild pitch or balks or there's a past ball. Eaton has speed the odds of him hitting into a DP are small unless he hits a line drive and the runners are asleep.

Once the first attempt went foul. it should've reminded Robin Eaton can't bunt squaring around . He's ok trying to bunt for a hit. But the whole coaching staff should know all that. Doesn't anyone speak up or is it support your manager decisions 100% and no open disagreements ?

Then he squares around to bunt again after he got strike 2 but took a ball. SO Robin had another chance to call the bunt with 2 strikes off but he did it again and we all know the results.

Um, these are things a manager should know about a player. If they're flat out bad at it, you need to work with them outside of "9th inning of a game action".

The important thing to remember is that Robin Ventura's decisions are everyone's fault except Robin Ventura's.

If this team winds up like I think they will, Robin will be "allowed to resign".

Maybe the mysterious extension he signed was only for one season, and his contract expires after this one.

All I know is that is also not Robin Ventura's fault.

Lets blame Balta instead...thats just as logical as blaming the video guys or all those Sox hitters who have never ever in a million years been able to execute sac bunts and correspondingly never learned (especially) if they were products of our minor league "system" for developing hitters.

Why isn't it logical to blame the video guys? You do understand Robin doesn't see replays.

Bottom of the 9th in a tied game. He felt it necessary to make his way onto the field, if it's close enough where he's leaving the dugout, no excuse not to challenge. None.

Especially when his shortstop (one of the team leaders) is adamant that the tag was made. That play would have been challenged by every manager in the league except one.....unfortunately, we have the one not smart enough to do so.

Now there's a description of Alexei I've never seen before now.

Jumping in late on the conversation since i worked all day, but what did robin say on why he didnt challenge it, couldnt he see alexi saying he tagged him. I maybe mistaken but we lose nothing by challenging that play right.

Yep, and the umpires still reserve the right to review a play in extra innings even if a team has used their challenge already.

He got a straight up no tag from the guy whose job is to tell him whether or not to challenge.
