Well, the reason was because now they don't have to pay the Earnhardt estate to use the name and they can actually own the name they market. But you know, go ahead and say there was no reason. IIRC it touches on Kanny and the team name. As a diehard Earnhardt fan that grew up in the southeast during the 80s, I'm sad for the name change. But I get it. Teresa Earnhardt is a monster.
