9/18 Tigers @ White Sox, 6:40
His positioning wasn't the problem. He had a 86% chance at making the play. His route was the problem. That's all instincts and practice. He's a middle infielder learning LF and this is what happens.

The idea that he should have been fast enough to get to the ball is one take, but his positioning leads to another conclusion. Sam took a gamble - he wanted to get a jump on what he thought would be a ball hit in the gap. Rocchio saw where he was playing and dumped a fly ball toward the line. I like Sam from the moment I saw him play in the WBC, but he needs to be reigned in a bit with certain overly-aggressive or foolish moves - like throwing his elbow out at players on the bases. He reminds me a bit of how Pete Rose played, all-out all the time.

Don't care what the Jays or rangers do. We are winning out so it doesn't matter

I wish I could watch these games on tv but for the last couple weeks ive found it spiking my blood pressure to watch the boys. Any tips on enjoying these games? Its just a sport I know

We also start three rookies and many 2nd and 3rd year players every night. This is not a vet group. These games are priceless for getting them all experience in a pennant race.

I think as fans we'd all do well to stop occasionally and remember that, with all their high-level skills, our guys are only human.

Sandlin will look studly tonight and the bats come alive! Sweep the central!

If Sam is being benched for that play it would be a complete joke and if anyone should benched it would be Colson for all his Ks and a crucial error last week in St. Louis and the lousy route he took on a pop fly.

Honestly, 2Deep, I don't think there was any insubordination involved, but rather a mistake on the crucial first couple of steps of the fielding route. I would be surprised if that one play is the reason Sam hasn't started. I'm a little partial, but I do hope he'll eventually get in there tonight and do something awesome-- and I hope that for ALL the guys!!

“The 78” + "The Railyard" = the future of the Sox and Fire
That is exactly where I am going with any plan taking a number of years to build up to the type of following you hope for longer term. You aren't going to do all of this and draw 4 million people.

The FAQ slides talk about the maintenance building's height. When combined with the existing viaduct height, it'll be about half the height of Rate Field. The slide about traffic and access says employee and contractor parking will be "on site within the yard's existing allocations. No permanent off-site parking needed". Does that mean that they will not be needing to take over part of Lots C and G other than during construction? The slide also says "Amtrak is coordinating with the ballpark's stakeholders so construction preserves access and parking." https://mwmaintenancefacility.com/viewer.html?d=faq-supplement&y=1200

Toronto winning 2 out of 3 would be best scenario.

Toronto all day. We don’t want Texas catching the Astros as Houston has the tie breaker over us.

Vasil threw off flat ground today, good step forward for him. We will need him next season.

Castillo to Sox for Dominguez, Boston Smith, Nolan Jones per Passan
I mean, there is zero reason not to give him an offseason to work on changes and hope he can provide some value next year. While he has been god awful, his pure stuff is much better than what James Shields had when we acquired him. Not suggesting he isn’t cooked, but if you eat the contract you might as well do so next year.

Sure, but Tatis Jr. turned out to be better than everyone Hahn acquired for stripping down the entire team. That turned out to be a Top Ten bad trade of all time.

Tonight, Cleveland is facing the pitcher who gave up the triple to Peters to secure the cycle. He’s got a solid 7.08 ERA, and the A’s have lost the last 10 games he has appeared in. He wasn’t starting until his last four outings. None of those four went well for him.

An ominous future...
When elephants fight, it's the grass that gets trampled. or as Thucydides’ said "The strong do what they can and the weaker suffer what they must." Millionaires fighting with billionaires and the people who will lose the most, the fans, will passionately take sides, instead of banding together to tell both sides to f*** off.

Gonna need some high tier work from Sandlin and the bats really need to come alive for more than just 1 inning moving forward.

I like it. Only 2 things I would probably change are Chase hitting leadoff bumping everyone down a spot and then switching Pham and Grich

It seems like for most of the mega contracts teams "win" the first end of the contract and the player "wins" the second. Some fans would rather see a contract 30-30-20-20-10-10 instead of 20 a year for six years to match the stats. With by spreading the payroll out you have more room early when the player is at his peak, plus future money is cheaper than today's money.

A lefty starter is probably why. And also, overall good OF defense out there tonight.
