Robert Thread: Sox talking to Reds, Mets
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to Snopek's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Even with Boras this seems fair with some kind of mutual option. If other teams are expecting the Sox to pay half then the problem is they dont think the odds of him reaching his upside hitting and health is worth even 1 decent prospects or even 2 mediocre ones. $10M for maybe 100 games of above average fielding and baserunning with low OBP and inconsistent power and incentives basedd on games played and offensive performance might be worth another $3-7M that you doubt you'll end up paying but not multiple prospects. Teams would rather gamble with incentive money if he performs than pay with prospects up front and end up with Anderson/Moncada/Jimenez downside clone performance. -

Chicago White Sox replied to Snopek's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If his market value right now is 1/$10M, then there is zero chance of trading him for anything of value. I just can’t accept in one of the worst CF markets I have ever seen, a guy like Robert would have the same market value as Aroldis García and would only get $5M more than Lane Thomas. -
If they plan on making Newcomb a starter, they still need a lefty reliever. Might as well give this guy an audition in spring training.

Local guy too I think

It's the most wonderful time of the year!! Bullpen arm minor league deal season!!
-
Last year was a different market. I think Robert's kind of worth around $10M right now. He's been too injured and average-y for the league's taste. If he goes out in 2026 and puts up the 3.5 fWAR year he's capable of, the teams might line up for 2027. (If he put that up all season on the WSox, then they pick up his option.)

Everyone’s favorite corner OF Michael Conforto got $17M from the Dodgers a year ago despite coming off a 1.3 fWAR season and lacking the upside of Luis. -
When you beat odds of say 1,000-1 to get to be an elite athlete, or elite doctor or elite lawyer or elite broadcaster you should collect big.

Stone is a Jerry Reinsdorf fan. I’d be interested in seeing how much of a White Sox fan he’ll continue being once JR is gone. -
Well his fWar the last 2 seasons was .6 and 1.3. Get his salary down to the value of his actual production and more teams will be interested, such as Reds

White Sox sign Jarred Kelenic, non-roster invite
Dick Allen replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Doing everything he can to help the White Sox win is nice. And he will do that by playing in Charlotte. -
Honestly the Dodgers should sign me for like $2 million. Just look under the couch cushions.

Houston’s D is nasty as hell and really fun to watch. I think they’re gonna give the Patriots all they can handle. If the Texans can get any sort of offense going I think they have a pretty good shot here.
-
Matt Abbatacola thought he was gone. Maybe they made the calculation that a third of teams were looking for head coaches this cycle and LaFleur is a good head coach. And this is another reason why I wish Buffalo won. The Broncos have less of a chance to win next week and Buffalo would be a better Super Bowl matchup than the Nix-less Broncos or any remaining AFC team.

I liked our odds much better against a 49er team in Chicago, not a Seahawk team in Seattle. If we win tonight, I'm going to have a hard time getting my hopes up for next Sunday.
-
That Nix injury unfortunately makes a Patriots Super Bowl appearance almost guaranteed. I’m strangely optimistic about the Bears today, but seeing what Seattle did, I fear that’s where any luck will end.
-
I agree it was close and it’s not a shocking ruling, but conceptually hard for me to watch that last INT from broncos and see it as an INT. I don’t like how the stripping of the ball started really post ground contact. It wasn’t like a jump ball scenario, just a “took the ball away on the ground”. But JJ Watt brought up a good point that had he done that (stripped the ball post landing), it had likely been ruled incomplete and we’d probably have agreed. But losing a takeaway there just seems incorrect. Had the ball “bounced” and went into his arms maybe it’s different to me.

$10 million and hefty incentives based on health and performance

I never hear of Sox fans changing, but welcome, just don't flip again. -
The league should want the Bears to reach the Super Bowl. It's been a while and our fave team has what TV wants. Great young quarterback to hype like they have done Mahomes. Great rookie tight end like they had with Kelce for years. Interesting coach. Great pass rusher in Booker. Great uniforms and great tradition. It's been a while. TV loved the Packers for a while, now they should be in love with Da Bears. It's time. The Bears are only gonna get better. Would be nice to reach the Super Bowl and see if our QB can reach legend status early in his career. GO BEARS.

That sucks. I remember those travel days and packing and getting to the next city is a nightmare. Those short trips make it too quick.
-
Crazy thing is I think the Rams are the best matchup to beat Seattle, not the Bears. But they might not make it out of the cold.
