Is “The 78” Dead? Or even more alive? Fire announce plans for SSS
WBWSF replied to soxfan18's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The people in Kansas are doing handstands over the Chiefs moving there. They seem to think the tax revenue (sales tax) and other money makes the deal wortwhile. -
It's a grego.

I assume this is a typo?

I wish all Sox fans good health so they can live to see Ishbia take over and clean out everything from the previous ownership group.

Is “The 78” Dead? Or even more alive? Fire announce plans for SSS
Lip Man 1 replied to soxfan18's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Just my opinion but I can easily see why politicians have told the Bears to basically screw themselves. The outstanding debt that is still owed on the first renovation of Soldier Field is a big issue and they have said so, along with having to try to subsidize a very wealthy McCaskey family isn't sitting well with voters given the economic situation around the nation amidst all the political chaos. Remember politicians are more about getting reelected than helping the Bears. Personally like with the Giants and Jets, to me it's simply not that big of a deal if they play outside of Chicago, they are still the Chicago Bears. It's just a name we're talking about after all. -

Well, Gary/Hammond could get, what, 10-11 surges in dining and hotel stays, and then have to service the stadium for the whole year? I suppose it becomes an entertainment district if they do concerts, college football, etc. And Chicago still keeps the "civic pride" of "having" an NFL team. -

Per Passan: White Sox sign Munetaka Murakami 2 years 34M
Timmy U replied to GreatScott82's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Actually very close Ohtani had a 74% in zone contact rate compared to 72% for Mune. Ohtani left the league at a younger age, so not an apples to apples comparison. -

joejoesox replied to GreatScott82's topic in Pale Hose Talk
if that's true ("much higher"), it doesn't seem to bear out in any meaningful way in the stats. Ohtani had a 0.016 higher average, lower OBP, lower SLG Ohtani's K rate in the MLB has increased vs NPB (obviously to be expected) He strikes out every 3.38 ABs vs every 3.19 ABs in the NPB Ohtani is below league average in Zone Contact (MLB: 82.5%, Ohtani: 75.9%) -

I don't know where to find it, but I think Murakami's in zone whiff rate is much higher. -

I'm looking at Murakami's NPB stats vs Ohtani's, I gotta be missing something, is there a reason why Murakami's K rate is so much more alarming than Ohtani's In the NPB, Murakami struck out every 3.28 ABs Ohtani struck out every 3.19 ABs I think a bigger reason why teams didn't go all in on Murakami is because of his defense/lack of a real position, more than his high strikeout rate. Ohtani can at least fall back on his arm NPB Stats I couldn't find their zone contact/whiff stats to compare them -
Chicago White Sox's Offseason FA Signings Trades Megathread
WestEddy replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't think anybody should self-deport, but Caulfield was talking about 3/36, if I remember correctly. And a few of us got swatted down for suggesting somebody like Murakami could sign with the White Sox. NostraCaulfield mocked me for suggesting 3/45. -
Merry Christmas, guys. Thanks for the banter.

@caulfield12 lost the ban bet. The proof is in the pudding. Fairbanks did not receive over $20 million. He received $13 million. Also, the Sox signed Murakami for $34 million, which is an individual free agent contract above $17.5 million prior to opening day. -
Merry Christmas

From what I've seen most people in KC and Missouri aren't too happy about the Chiefs moving out of state. Even the Missouri politicians aren't happy about it. The more I've thought about it the more I find it amazing that Illinois hasn't approved the Bears Arlington Heights site. It would be a great thing for the area. If something doesn't change and Indiana offers the Bears a tremendous deal the Bears are going to move out of state, The states of Kansas and Indiana view a NFL franchise as an asset. Even tho the money is putting more money into the NFL billionaire owners pockets Kansas and Indiana think its worth it in the long run. -
Kelly could have made it as a pinch runner. Fastest pitcher I have ever seen.

I was 100% wrong on him exceeding the option…no doubt about that. But at the end of the day, that wasn’t the bet my friend nor was it even the spirit of the bet. You thought Fairbanks was going to easily clear $20M because of some ridiculous Spotrac forecast and that did not happen. You also thought the Sox wouldn’t sign someone for more than $17.5M in total contract value and that did happen. Ultimately, we must hold one another accountable for our words & actions. A bet was agreed to and a ban must be issued accordingly now that the dust has settled. I respect your courage to actually put some skin in the game and look forward to future interactions come Opening Day. 圣诞快乐,新年快乐!

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas, maybe Santa will bring us a merry winning season in 2026.

Fine, whatever, but you were still wrong on Fairbanks. Wrong wrong wrong. As long as you admit that along with everyone else who argued he would get less than $11 million. You basicalmy argued he would struggle to get a deal of even $10 million. He actually now has $14 million in hand (including the TB buyout) and will get $14.5 million if he's traded by the deadline. You lost the battle but somehow won the war. At any rate, I'm working out the details on a new project with White Sox Japan scout Satoshi Takahashi and Excel SM, so I will probably be busy anyway. PS If WestEddy gets bored, he like a genie can summon me back before February 20th or whatever date it is. Also, I'm going to record anytime someone makes a bet starting with Feb 20th and make sure those bettors are all held accountable in similar fashion since you took it this far, despite being wrong in "spirit."
