Soxtalk should band together and do a documentary on the intricacies and history of the Reinsdorf family estate. There's an unbelievable amount of detailed insider knowledge here. We could also generate revenue for the site by offering financial planning services. We'd be foolish to squander this much expertise.

This might be the greatest single post in the history of Soxtalk.
  3. Hopefully his recent poor performance was related to the bad tooth and he can now finally start swinging at borderline pitches.

Buy? JR makes SOOOOOOO much money he would just give it to us. Then we could sign all the FA's and compete, it's that simple.

BUT BUT BUT BUT MONCADA SUCKS!!! Love, Tom@gmail
  6. Acuna Jr. with yet another huge homer, Jesus. He’s going to get some MVP votes if he keeps this up.

Fair. You do need to work on hating more people tho.

Absolutely. Then we would read Soxtalk to get ideas on how to run the front office and build a winner.

Lol, I can't argue that. Can I be Don Cooper then? I'm really good at being grumpy and have swearing down to a science. I make Eric Cartman with tourettes look like a choir boy.
  10. Abreu has to make that play...same with SANCHEZ. Hard to accurately judge these pitchers with so many mistakes behind them on a consistent basis.
  11. All those damn Twinkies finally caught up to him
  12. That was a fuck up I thought only the Sox were capable of pulling off.
  13. I think Pollock gets somewhere in the ballpark of what Cain got. Have to think minimum 4/65.

Let's be real, if there is any villain/KW role to be played, we all know I've got that wrapped up.

This post is so damn good I nominate you to be the next JR.

I tried but the inbox is full already. Damn! And I had aspirations of being the next Soxtalk villain by taking KW's VP position once the New Whitesox Order was operational.

Maybe WE could buy the team!!
  18. Considering RH has said they are very close, it seems likely tbey will be in the MLB.
  19. For one, the quote has been taken out of context. He didn't really say that. Also, he and every other person in the org has probably been asked that question 1000 times. At some point you answer it in a way that people can twist. It's beyond obvious that these guys aren't coming to Chicago this season. If they do at this point, I will being to really doubt that Hahn and Co has any fucking idea what they're doing.
  20. That explains a number of your views and posts. It's poisoned your brain. Jk. ?
  21. I will lose so much faith in this FO if Eloy and Kopech are called up in September. That would be straight WTF move. I think they're smarter than that.
  22. Maybe I’m being optimistic because I don’t want Jimenez and Kopech up this year, but if they were coming up at all, I think they’d be here already. They would be justified in dumping Covey from the rotation and LaMarre from the roster. Since they haven’t done it, I think they’re waiting for April 12th (or whenever), which is a sound decision at this point.
  23. Bud Light rules. Suck it

He may not have been in many "high pressure" situations due to how garbage the White Sox have been...but he sure sucked in the few that he has been in. He does also fade in the 2nd half...I don't know how you could possibly blame that on the White Sox, they put him specifically on a plan to try and make sure that didn't happen and he immediately threw that out when he got to the Red Sox and - shockingly - faded in the 2nd half last year again. He's fun to watch but IMO still needs to prove he can do it for a full season
  25. Ahhh, was forgetting about Beef for a hot second.
  26. I took a stab at writing my first White Sox related article beyond tweets and message board responses about Jose Ruiz. I'll post it here for anyone that is curious. Jose Ruiz article White Sox.docx
  27. Unfortunately they taste the same. (Knowledge from college)
  28. Booed or indifference. No reason to cheer him. Hopefully he’s off the team by opening day next year. My wish is they just release him or trade him for a bag of balls.

Moncada and Castro are so different that this comparison is hilarious. They have like almost opposite sets of tools. All of one's strengths are the other's weaknesses. Castro = insane hit tool that plays down due to excessive aggressiveness/lack of discipline, middling power, middling speed, excellent arm but poor defensive instincts Moncada = fringey hit tool that should play up due to excellent discipline, but needs to add aggressiveness, big time power, elite speed, fringey arm but good range and instincts.

Moncada has struck out 169 times this season. Nine more k's than Joey Gallo! He is going to set the all time record for most strikeouts in a season at this pace. This season has been an absolute train-wreck. I'm not sure how anyone can say with a straight face that they have seen Moncada improve this year. His ceiling is looking more and more like Starlin Castro with each passing day and that is downright frightening.
  31. Holy cow, the Chicago Dogs owner posts on here?
  32. So to answer the question, here’s how I see the 2019 rotation shaking out over time: Opening Day: Rodon Lopez Giolito Cheap Veteran Covey Mid to Late April: Rodon Lopez Giolito Kopech Stephens - Covey & cheap veteran moved to bullpen (or possibly released). July / August Rodon Kopech Lopez Giolito / Cease Stephens / Dunning - Cease & Dunning replace any weak points in the rotation (excluding Rodon & Kopech)

Dennis Eckersley said a few weeks ago that he felt Sale has the best stuff of any pitcher he has ever seen in person.
  35. 1 point
Like when the team wants you to wear uniforms that prevent you from doing your job well? I think I will gladly take the elite talent every time. Sale is a H-O-F type player and the best pitcher the Sox have had in my 36 years. The fact that they had to trade him because they couldn't build around him still irritates me.
  36. Can Moncada's picture be removed from the banner at the top? It's embarrassing.
  37. and sadly, lost all three games
  38. The rebuild has absolutely been a net positive in Year 2, you just have to look in the minors to see it. There are so many guys on the farm who have had great seasons, some expected, some unexpected. Eloy Jimenez looks poised to be a cornerstone franchise hitter, while Carlos Rodon and Michael Kopech look to be the makings of a formidable 1-2 rotation punch. Meanwhile, guys like Luis Gonzalez, Jimmy Lambert, Bernardo Flores, Bryce Bush, and several others have come out of nowhere to establish themselves as legitimate prospects, and other guys like Spencer Adams, Jordan Stephens, Jordan Guerrero, Alex Call, and others have continued to chug right along and show that they probably have futures as useful MLB players, and a few players like Dylan Cease and Dane Dunning (before he got hurt) have stepped up their game and went from high potential to a realistic expectation of meeting that potential.
  39. The Toronto Raptors of baseball.
  40. Thanks for reading guys. I appreciate the positive response. My biggest takeaway from talking to everyone was that Hostetler really lets his people work on day three. He builds credibility and encourages strong work ethic by rewarding guys for their hard work all year. Other area scouts mentioned to Bryce Bush after the fact that their organizations wouldn't take him or set aside the $$ to sign him without seeing him in person. Many scouting directors and cross-checkers just didn't have to the time to see an athletic prep player in Michigan in late May and early June. Hostetler deserves credit for trusting Wechsler in this case.
  41. Right now, the answer is zero. Talk to me on 7/15/2019 and that may change. This is really fluid for Giolito/Moncada/Lopez. They haven't shown enough at this time to be considered part of that group. By the ASB in 2019, hopefully a couple of these players have taken a step forward. I'm about ready to write of Anderson. He is what he is. Nothing more than a utility player at this point. We've had 2.5 seasons to see what he has now.
  42. 1 point
That's not fair. I don't see any reason he should be denied the right to buy a ticket and take in the game like any of us.

My bar for an MLB player being awful is a lot higher than Adam Engel. Engel belongs nowhere near a major league ballpark.
