It's clear Yoan has an ax to grind, an agenda, and isn't adding to the conversation about why the Bears blew it today.

The typical White Sox fan experience? I will always love this team but I’ve been in the state of Illinois for all of ten days in the last twenty years. You guys talk about your hatred of the Cubs and it couldn’t matter less to me because I don’t even know any Cubs fans. Should I run around and screech at people for daring to talk about something that doesn’t interest me? If the guy wants to mention reliable info that our team’s owner is a good guy, then I’m interested. If you so totally do not care, then you are welcome at any point to...you know...stop caring.

This is another case of people working way too hard to avoid blaming Rick Hahn for Rick Hahn's own decisions. Look, I don't know if this Reinsdorf quote is accurate or not, but it's long been clear that Reinsdorf runs his franchise where winning is but one of several things he cares about, and he would rather lose games and seasons than change the way he wants to run his team. He would not go over-slot on the draft when other franchises were using that to their advantage, he would not spend big money internationally when other teams were using that as a big advantage, he wouldn't even spend the international money this season even though they were rebuilding, had an incredibly low overall payroll, and had 2 years in the penalty box where they could have spent the time scouting and preparing for this signing period. Adding players that might someday help them build a winning team was so far down on JR's priority list that that they traded away their international signing space to a team that did care more about adding a player and made that other team take on Jones's contract in the process. They couldn't be more clear about it if they wrote a book about things they care about more than winning. This is why Wilder was able to successfully conduct his fraud for so long - he was a confidence man and once you have JR's confidence you're set for life. Rick Hahn is not some innocent bystander in this behavior. He came up through this system, tolerated it for years. He got the job because whatever priorities JR has other than winning - Rick Hahn either shares those or is willing to look the other way. If JR wants to run his franchise by hiring his buddies so that they can sit around behind closed doors saying "Hey, look at me! I'm Mr. So-And-So D*ck! I've got such-and-such for a penis", Rick Hahn has his job because that's the setting he wants to be in too. RH got his job because he's not going to rock the boat, he's going to go along with his owner's priorities, because they're his priorities too. Rick Hahn is there because he's one of the buddies and he knows his job is to surround JR with additional buddies.

I care about winning as much as anyone here. I just don’t find a need to be first person to write off a player/team or rush to judgment. Remember when you said Giolito’s brief struggles earlier this year were “regression”? Yeah, you looked like an asshole then and an even bigger one now.

1) Yes and Ian Rapoport confirmed it, who by the way knows more about this stuff in his pinky than you do in your entire body. 2) No, but that doesn't mean they gave up "that much for him." 3) What are you not understanding? They didn't give up a lot. They overpaid by a 5th round pick. It's proven. It's a fact. I know what they gave up but it wasn't egregious or anything.

I've hated the way they handled the QB spot since BEFORE Trubisky got here: 1. Cutting Cutler/stupidly signing an incompetent glennon made for a poor choice as a bridge QB; I preferred Cutler for that role. (Cutler as a cromlulent "bridge qb" likely would have given Mitch more time to watch/learn than Mike glennon.) 2. Stupidly trading half the fucking draft to move up 1 spot when it was unneccessary increased the expectations for an inexperienced Trubisky. (I thought, "this guy better be Dan Marino" if you're going to trade away that much for him.) 3. Just drafting Trubisky, regardless of draft spot, appears to be a massive scouting failure when compared to other QBs. 4. Running a Club Med preseason, when TOM FUCKING BRADY took preseason snaps appears to have stunted Trubiskys development. He looked like a 1 read QB who's unsure of where to throw the ball. Club Med. Fucking backwards baseball caps on the sideline, instead of preseason snaps. Total lack of accountability. How does the special teams coach NOT call a return instead of a block on 4th & 5-1/2? How does the HEAD coach not ensure that on a 4th & 5-1/2 that the return team stay the hell away from the punter? Here's hoping Ricky Nagy can unfuck himself & this underachieving, undisciplined team. I have my doubts.

I’m not sure which is worse, being a Twins’ fan and losing to the Yankees 11 times in a row in the post-season...and something like 15 consecutive post-season losses, or the irrelevance of being a White Sox fan today and seeing that purported JR quote and realizing the odds of getting past Houston, the Yankees or just our own division is maybe 3-5% at best. I mean, we’re not even close to the Indians, Twins, Rays and A’s in a major market with the Cubs’ so-called dynasty self-immolating itself (we just gave Ricketts a 2-3 week window away from media criticism.) The further irony is those Samson-led Marlins quickly winning two World Series championships over the course of seven seasons...something it took the White Sox 88 years to accomplish. Meanwhile, Hahn continues to lead the 2010’s in “won the MLB offseason” yet record the worst winning percentage as a GM (5+ years of tenure) in modern history.

I don't think he even wants to win. His record speaks of itself. And as far going into debt....there are 30 sets of MLB ownerships in the known universe. If he's not affluent enough to contend then he should get out of sports. But he won't because he's learned to make money without significant financial overlays. Contending is strictly coincidental to achieving his level of profit margin. The White Sox were the 6th most profitable team in MLB last year. I'm sure he's done very well for himself and that cabal again in 2019. And what he's achieving with the Bulls has got to be breathtaking. Consistently in the top 3 in attendance playing in the Sistine Chapel of the NBA while consistently in the bottom 3 in payroll. No wonder he told the family to sell his so-called beloved White Sox but by all means keep the Bulls. The guy is a native New Yorker. He doesn't give a damn about Chicago outside of his charitable (tax writeoffs) contributions. P.T. Barnum 2.0 fits him perfectly.

Indeed. A former girlfriend of a friend of mine worked in the Sox front office (payroll) in the late '90s and early 2000's. She described Reinsdorf as "grandfatherly" and a "good boss." One can criticize him for many things, but not the way that he treats his employees.

My Cub fan brother (2 years older) has put up with disappointment longer than me. When we were young it would frequently break down to pushing & shoving bouts. I've learned with age to keep it in perspective. I seldom miss a game and the Sox have brought me many hours of enjoyment and yes...frustration. It's a great pastime...not life and death.

I 100% believed that the owner wanted to win until today. Then suddenly things have changed. I'm not 100% on the dark side yet but I'm considering it because the way they ran the Sox for the better part of two decades backs up what that guy from the Marlins said. I don't know what to think right now. This is a plausible accusation. I think I'm going to wait it out over the next few years and make Jerry prove this guy wrong.
