Bad management, bad trading, bad drafting, bad player development, bad attitude and bad basic baseball principles were also factors, you don't lose 100 games and stink out the season just because of bad luck.4 points

I dunno man. I was one who got a TA Jersey- he was amazing and seemed like a great example and a leader for this team. What has transpired the past few years has been discouraging. Flipping off Cleveland fans? Please dude...leave that to us. All the distracting baby mama nonsense. The complete 180 on his power... its completely gone. Remember his wife would make him spaghetti when he hit a home run? Now he doesnt hit home runs... I wonder why. I admit that's a ridiculous theory but kind of fun lol he dont like his wife anymore so he doesnt hit home runs so she wont make him spaghetti.3 points

I'm not kidding and I don't dispute anything you say but frankly this team is on the south side of Chicago and people do like Tim. I don't want to derail the topic so I'll leave it at this post, but personally, I like his spirit and what he represents but could take him or leave him as a ball player, even when he was good. He's a guy I want to root for and a lot of people feel the same way. And so the fact that this board thought Jake Burger was more of a fan favorite than Tim is, to me, emblematic of that disconnect I mentioned and absurd enough of a sentiment to write a post about. I'm dead fuckin serious when I say I never see a Sox jersey that isn't Tim Anderson's, including Luis Robert or Harold Baines or Konerko or Dye or whoever else. Frankly, I don't give a f*** about TV ratings and I don't think any sports team does either. It declined at that rate for us because we as fans anticipated the team to be good last year and it wasn't. And of course we were even worse this year. What is there to even watch unless you're an obsessive type that talks about sports on online message boards? That isn't the fanbase. I'll be concerned when this team is making the playoffs and is showing tr*picana field numbers. games 3 and 4 of the 2021 ALDS were packed. I pay closer attention to the NBA than MLB, and TV ratings decline on a yearly basis in that sport yet basketball related income increases steadily (everybody gets paid more, the sport gets worse, I pay more attention to a different sport). these loser teams are making money hand over fist regardless of the fact that nobody watches tv anymore. if jerry wants to make money again, he'll do it by developing a new park and a surrounding "district" because that's how they make even more money nowadays beyond their typical con artistry. I have more to write about the attendance thing and I'll do it in the other thread some time tomorrow.3 points

The Astros may have been the team caught cheating but that happened and they just went out and continued to dominate the AL afterward. You gotta respect that. We wish the Sox could hold the Astros jock at this point. Hate them all you want, and I wont try to change your mind, but at this point several years removed from the scandal its my opinion that they are now the class of the AL and it's not even close.3 points

In all fairness...I never saw Tim as a leader. His interviews were often cringe...and he always seemed to be very focused on himself. Which is fine, but his demeanor and language never screamed "leader" to me.2 points

I will go to the point of agreeing that people used to like Tim. 2018-2021 he sure seemed like the kind of guy you could cheer for. Now he loves forever as a meme being knocked out by Ramirez.2 points

Are you kidding? They had an attendance last year that was right with the rebuild years and I’m certainly hoping it goes lower next year. The last month of the season the number of people actually coming to games was probably in the 100s, the only reason they beat 2019s total attendance was they gave up and did a $1 ticket day. There’s a thread here about their already low ratings dropping by 40%, to one of the lowest in the sport. Anderson has become a tabloid issue for the team. The only benefit is that he occasionally takes the focus off of people being shot in the ballpark when his private life leaks out.2 points

How many millions of dollars does Tim bring into the team just by being Tim Anderson? I feel like this board is disconnected from reality by thinking Tim isn’t a fan favorite and ultimately good for business. I assume he has the top selling jersey on the team, at least it’s the only one I see around town unless it’s a guy who hasn’t been on the team in 15 years.2 points

Was it bad luck that Hendriks got sick? Yes. Was it bad luck that the most expensive bullpen in baseball couldn't replace him with even a tolerable performance for 2.5 months? Was it bad luck that a guy with a history of arm problems including last year had an arm problem and they had no backup plan for him? Was it bad luck that they rushed Hendriks back from bleeping cancer treatment before his arm was strong enough to pitch and when his velocity was clearly down, and his arm gave out as a consequence?1 point

If you ever wanted a sign that a guy isn’t focused on the game and is letting fans get under his skin, there you go.1 point

The so called "face of the franchise" is perfect...if you want your "face" to flip off fans, get suspended for confrontations with umpires, get dropped because of an on-field fight and has a bunch of off the field exposes. Oh and has on-field performance has collapsed badly too. I agree with you, that's no leader.1 point

And seems like he'd be a back up you could actually believe can not lose you a game. What is the deal with Foreman? Every time here plays he looks good. Is he a bad actor or something? How was he a healthy inactive so often?1 point

Bears should not be wasting either of their high 1st round picks on a QB. The last two Bears QBs to start NFC Championship games were Jay Cutler and Rex Grossman. Every acquisition this offseason should be OL, DL and DB, with maybe a mid-round WR thrown in there. Was a huge mistake to not go harder after Mike McGlinchey in free agency. Was a huge mistake to not try to trade for Zach Martin when he was holding out with Dallas. Was a huge mistake to only draft one OL this year. Get a better OL and a better defense and you can win with Fields or Bagent. Those top two picks need to be an OT and edge rusher.1 point

I don't know form naperville in particular but i57 itself could not be a more easy/boring drive getting on around tinley area1 point

But it is very White Sox to declare that it is. Especially when it’s because a reliever got hurt and that’s totally the kind of thing teams never can recover from.1 point

Oh quit whining you little beyatches. You are only depressing yourselves. Try to think positive. Aside from career low numbers for multiple players, we ran into some bad luck and had a bullpen that gave up the ghost over and again in some tough heart breaking losses. That won't be that difficult to improve on. We need pitching more than anything. You can't bring Bummer et. al. in for the 7th or 8th inning with a two run lead and then walk the lead-off batter before giving up the lead. And we were without a legit Closer since Liam got sick.1 point

It's not that Andrus is good, it's that Merrifield is just as bad, if not slightly worse. Because Baseball is an individual sport masquerading as a team sport, the eye test means very little at the highest level. Numbers tell the whole story.1 point

I take issue with point one. Every MLB team can afford guys who have the record of being quality starters at a position they need to fill. They just choose not to. I will go so far as to say 30 teams can afford Shohei Ohtani and Juan Soto's next contract. Again, they just choose not to.1 point

But Kim Ng on the market just reinforces what a stupid hire Chris Getz was. Ng, James Click and Chaim Bloom are all available. I'm sure there are plenty of other GMs that would be able to learn an org in under a year. They probably don't retain Grifol because they don't have the Royals connection. Suddenly you can interview real managers.1 point

How many different ways does everyone want to say "We suck. Nobody cares and nobody is watching?" The Sox suck. They're the second team in the second city. The organization is atrocious. We have little hope for the future. Why in the f*** do you guys get off on repeating this? We already know. It's always been shitty being a Sox fan. Why in the f*** do Sox fans feel better about reminding the rest of us that we suck? You think you're ahead of the game in identifying that we're all fans of an irrelevant franchise? No s%*#. All of us already knew that. You think that you figured it out by noticing that other organizations use advanced analytics and the Sox don't? No fucking s%*#. We suck and always have.1 point
