  1. Quite the indictment of White Sox ownership.
  2. It is really not that deep imo. The WBC eligibility rules are designed loose for a reason, and it is to get more talent spread around. Baseball is growing but it still has most the talent centered in the US Caribbean and Japan, so it is good to allow Italy to field a team and for Americans with Korean or Taiwan or whatever background to suite up for those nations.
  3. Then don’t live in a society. I don’t know what you guys are so paranoid about. Does the pokey needle hurt or something? It’s a very egotistical and selfish perspective to have.
  4. The ultimate preemptive excuse for being bad regardless of anything else. It’s an unfair playing field and the Sox don’t have a chance even before the season starts because of an owner that doesn’t really care to spend money.
  5. Brooks Boyers job seems pretty safe with a sales pitch like this
  6. The bolded could be a copy and paste comment made on this site during the last rebuild, which ultimately failed. I also seem to remember how pumped up you were about the Bulls’ young team and future hopes last year and yet they still appear to be stuck in NBA hell. Nothing is guaranteed, especially not with a franchise owned by Jerry.
  7. It's all a part of the plan. We are just too dumb to see it.
  8. Nothing is Getz' fault. Why would somebody be so crazy to put any blame on the player development guy when top prospects fail to live up to their billing?
  9. What a shameful way to end that game 2-1.
  10. Just can't have a game like this end on that call
  11. I’m not sure what happened - server company was doing normal maintenance and whatever they did it took all our sites down. Been working on fixing it for a few days - so appreciate the patience and apologies for the outage. It might be a bit choppy while we optimize it. If you run into issues - clear your cookies. If you are running into issues let us know. Apologies for outage. Quite a few nights where I was up until 3 am (after work and after putting kids to bed) trying to figure out what server company did.
  12. $2.7bn each year The NBA is currently in a 9-year $24bn deal with Disney and Turner Broadcasting. This deal brings in ~$2.7bn each year. Vs. $550 million / 30 and what's left of the RSN deals
  13. Sucks that Antonnacci was the last out, but what a tourney for him.
  14. Surprised by how many times I saw Antonacci whiff on pitches in the zone the last handful of games (insofar as I thought that never happens)
  15. 1 point
I can’t remember which thread it was in, but somebody was complaining about the $17 million Sox spent to get Jordan Hicks and Sandlin. I think that will be money well spent, at least, for Hicks. I believe he will be a very valuable late-inning/ high leverage reliever. And as for Sandlin, we’ll have to see.
  16. No one can say for sure how much power Getz had in that position. To automatically assign him blame is just getting angry because he convinced JR by being cheap and inexperienced that he wanted the job. You'd think you'd be able to see how different things are now but if all you can see is the losses and Getz had a key position under a malfunctioning front office then that's all you're going to see until the record gets respectable. It's already trending that way but they started a lot lower that 2024 season. . They had to wait until 2025 to really get some of the young guys in the lineup. I wonder if Houston fans were this blind. During the Sox 1st rebuild everyone was gung ho even though they left the same guys in charge who screwed it up in the 1st place.
  17. Can't put it past the White Sox to pat themselves on the back for exceeding low expectations
  18. You'd think it wasn't a rebuild by the way everyone is concerned about the losses. The problem with the last rebuild is they didnt lose enough and never got top picks unless you count Madrigal and Vaughn. They also had less veteran guys to sell off because they dropped so precipitously that no one was worth anything. Anderson, Moncada, Kopech, Eloy, Giolito all went downhill in a short period of time. JR was spending a lot more per season then even during the rebuild so Hahn would spend it on Melky Cabrera and others so they lost 100 once. Also there was no draft lottery but the Sox got the #1 pick this year but have had much better drafts although its still kind of early to say for sure. But even after playing 20 rookies last year they still had 5 guys in the top 100 and a couple more just outside it and also Antonacci who sprang up pretty fast. The Astros lost 106, 107 & 111 from 2011-2013 then 92 in 2014. After that they started making the playoffs regularly. They drafted very well and unlike the Sox they didn't have to rebuild their international connections. Starting in 2017 they made the playoffs 8 straight years and were constantly in the ALCS and won 2 World Series
  19. Not a good game for Antonacci

Burke was solid, sitting 95. 4.2IP, 1 run. Could have been scoreless, but Hill lost one in the sun in RF. Pereira has played a nice CF.
  21. It's where Carlson was always going to go.
  22. The dude is 19 and has zero MILB at bats. Seems like the right place for him.
  23. I thought the members broke the site when Teel went down.
  24. Double tanking, Covid and loss of broadcasting revenues...
  25. I like Braden starting in AA. Also, Carlson will start in Kanny.
  26. Cautiously but increasingly optimistic about Acuna
  27. Shay Whitcomb and Jahmai Jones are two examples there...along with Stuart Fairchild. Having watched all of the Asian pool games pretty closely, the biggest difference was on the pitching front. The Asian teams had very few dynamic arms coming out of the bullpen. Japan, for example, used Itoh in relief and had Sugano on their roster as well. Ohtani Imai Sasaki Imanaga Senga and Darvish were all unavailable...and that made all the difference pitching to Wilyer Abreu and with a 5-2 lead when Yamamoto was removed after 4. Compare to the US team that had Jeff Hoffman still in reserve at game's end on Sunday night...even Speier or Joe Ryan were better options than anyone Japan had. I think the Japanese manager deferred to his veterans too much...Kondoh over Sato, and leaving one of the best young fireballing closers in the NPB off the final roster.
  28. You know Jerry smokes a cigar and ponders why he can’t have two terrible teams that never win anything but both make money hand over fist just because they have cool logos and had some good teams ages ago.
  29. hahahahahahahahaha. The ability to attempt to recast being satisfied with horrible baseball and baseball decisions as some sort of asset is uncanny.
  30. Every time this discussion occurs on this forum (often, but becoming less so), I think about how David Stearns has an unlimited budget and built-in talent and couldn’t make the playoffs and might’ve made the playoffs if he made the exact same moves for the pitching staff that Getz did. I dunno what people expect out of a baseball GM honestly. To swing all the bats I guess. edit: oh yeah, opened this thread because I was hoping Vasil might crack the rotation to begin the season. Hopefully he’s just day-to-day and this injury doesn’t derail that possibility.
  31. Ultimate framing job on an absolute horrid call.
  32. That was a ball but can’t take it that close.
  33. What a s%*# was to end the game. That was well low.
  34. Pitch was clearly low on GameDay...would have been Tatis first and third.
  35. Oh that's a terrible call
  36. Good thing we didn't sign Walker Buehler, then.
  37. This is great news - If he can get back to who he was pre injury I think it will make a big difference for the rebuild.
  38. "Under 26 talent" listicles are a ridiculous measure. Getz is doing a good job hiring competent people. "Fine" is fine. Relax.
  39. By the time we finally stop rooting for everyone to be fired and a new rebuild initiated, those cities won't even exist anymore.
  40. Crazy they already have the GRF backdrop on the videoboard...a lot of confidence, but you don't get to #1 prospect status without it.
  41. I totally was not in the fetal position while soxtalk was down saying "my.... precious" and shaking uncontrollably. No sir-ee.
  42. We saved probably millions of lives. This isn't "something bad". It's 1 in 350 Americans dead. We go to war for MUCH less and give away those related freedoms every day. Also you don't have the freedom to kill other people.
  43. Say what you will about Bauer, but our boy just squared off against him in the cage!
  44. Still condescending. "Sorry for your loss...but"?!? No, the deaths don't give "credibility" to the vaccines. Extensive testing on mRNA does give it credibility. That's great that you can type sentences. The government does have the right to mandate vaccines in an emergency. This was established in Jacobsen vs. Massachusetts and has been upheld numerous times. Caulfield also cited an example. In normal times, about 8400 people die each day in the US. At its height, 8100 people were dying daily of COVID. That's not "something bad happening". That was the normal daily death toll practically doubling due to a pandemic that was spreading across the world in a matter of weeks. Do you see how you minimizing deaths just to make some ill-conceived point can be considered condescending?
  45. Carlson 100% depends on his bat, which has miles to go. Penciling this dude into a starting position, and trying to move players around before he has ever taken a MiLB AB, it nuts. Let him simmer first and start to force his way into the picture.
