I don’t care what anyone says, Lopez is a badass mothefucker. He battled to get through that shit with minimum damage and you can still see how pissed he is to have given up those two runs. Love this kid.3 points

Not so much comparing. Just showing that these are teams that went through lengthy rebuilds and an angry fanbase during those years. Hahn had a mess that was left for him to clean up. The years of retooling on the fly, horrible draft scouting and draft signings left him almost nothing to build from in the minors. If it wasn't for Hahn getting Sale, Q and Eaton signed to extremely team friendly contracts this team would be even more fucked than they currently are.2 points

Hate comparing front offices of Cubs and Astros with Hahn and company. Theo and Luhnow. Those two came to their current organizations highly accomplished with Boston/StL. Meanwhile Hahn has been less than impressive during his tenure with the Sox. He's done nothing to illustrate he knows how to build a contender.2 points

"Brah" just looks wrong. No one says "Brahs before hoes," do they? And where does "brah" come from anyway? That said, I could give not a whit about them "playing shitty baseball" right now. And yes, we all know its a rebuild. IMHO, these points do not need to be mentioned, because we all already know these things, so they're not all that cogent to a discussion. But it has been a decade since the last division winner, and it has been 17 years since Aaron Rowand came up through the system, and became the last regularly-productive position player to come up from the system that I can remember off the top of my head. [Sure, there was Avi's BaBIP-fuelled lucky 2017, and Beckham's lucky rookie season, but no regularly-productive types of note that I can remember.] We as a fandom have been more than patient with this front office. The fastest way to get to winning again is to stop doing stupid things as an organization. You know, make good decisions, instead of bad ones. If Moncada busts [not saying that he is], it sets this org back by years, IMO. And if they can't get someone as talented as Moncada to be better than a .692 OPS, who CAN they turn into a productive player? But hey, if you like it, cool. YMMV.2 points

No, not mad, "brah." [BTW milennials, why is it "brah," rather than "bro?" The former reads like the chest restrictive device that women wear, while the latter looks more correct to me...] Full apologies for being a fan. And, you know, for being sick of the cavalcade of failure that is this front office. And no, no one's "b****ing whining and complaining," just pointing out this Front Office's failure. You may like that they've turned a HOF SP in Chris Sale into a walk machine in Kopech and a K machine in Moncada, but for my favorite team, I'd prefer that they stop doing stupid shit. Beyond the stupid rushing of Moncada, one has to ask what they teach in the system. After all, Moncada's .149 BA as a RHH may be cool for you, but I'm pretty sure we can find a few fat slobs in the stands to be as equally [in]effective as he is. And seeing Collins have to "fix himself" by disregarding any coaching he got makes me doubt that they have any idea of what they're doing. But again, YMMV.2 points

Mental error. He seems surprised how good MLB players are from time to time. You see the same thing when he doesn't realize how fast the runner is going to 1st when he fields. This dude is still really raw in a lot of ways, mentally and physically. I'm starting to wonder what good Rick and Jose are doing as leaders because it's clear that something isn't getting through to him about how you have to play full speed all the time, or at least 99% of the time.2 points

I can confidently say those are the three worst consecutive posts from a single poster in Soxtalk history. Can’t tell if the poster is high on meth or just really struggling to be funny. Either way, this type of garbage is ruining the overall quality of the board.2 points

It was the same way with the cubs rebuild. The dumb meatball fans who thoroughly oppose the rebuild will keep whining during the rebuild and then jump in the bandwagon when the team is good.2 points

I shouldn't bite but I guess I will: Man this team has taken a dive in quality testing fans' patience since they entered the tank/rebuild.2 points

The trading deadline is coming up. I would like to think the White Sox will be active. I would think that Hahn will try to improve the team if he can. I would like to see the White Sox trade Moncada and Kopech back to Boston for Chris Sale. Does anybody think Boston would make the trade?1 point

Not trying to start a fight, but with our initial taste of our prospects not a positive one (relax I like Moncada and Timmy and El-Rey, but they are here and proven to be human) Greg is demanding a Sox WS team anchored by Avi and Abreu. It could happen folks and it should happen. For those of you who think they should not be anchors of our WS teams coming up, I am just speechless. Think about it then respond please. Think of INTANGIBLES as well as tangibles (which they are good at too). We could have one of the most close-knit clubs in history if those 2 guys are allowed to lead us into the greatness years. Why am I the only one to see it. To you who don't post much, also give your takes! Thank u.1 point

This is very true. There is no way every major prospect can flame out, can they? I don't think it is going to go down that way, but it would be a very White Sox occurrence for them to get zero stars and only a few average players out of this whole thing. Hahn/KW's player evaluation is very suspect, to say the least.1 point

The truth is that Fulmer should be in AA, the last place he had any consistent success (and that was after a nasty run to start his AA tenure). Instead we brought him to the majors, where he wasn't ready, then sent him down to AAA, where he never thrived, then brought him back to MLB 2x and are still surprised that he's not doing great in AAA when he never really pitched himself out of AA.1 point

I know 3, Greg, WBWSF, and Two-Gun Pete. LOL. Whenever the Sox lose, remind ourselves that 4 wins in 2014 was the difference between Benintendi and Fulmer.1 point

When I said bruh I was mocking it. Honestly I don't where the hell it came from I don't disagree with you that's it's been forever that the Sox have relevant. I was tired of all the failures in drafting and free agent signings as well. For me it all changed when Hahn was put in charge of this rebuild and when the Sox revamped their scouts and coaches. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and so far I like what they've done in scouting, drafting and the trade returns. Still think the coaching leaves something to be desired, well alot to be desired really.1 point

I saw him last year. It was really good. I would go again if he came back. I've been listening to Animals a lot lately.1 point

I think he was just shocked Adrus went home. But he's gotta know that's an elite SS and wtf is the 3rd base coach telling him? Like, I know this isn't the Pony League but how about the coach tells him that he's got a cannon at SS and on any play in the hole to bust ass home all the way? Again I'll say that the coaching seems lacking all around on this club.1 point

I don't know if it's the speed of the game, or if it's that he just wants style points on every freaking play he's involved in.1 point

From Sunday's Sun-Times: Manager Rick Renteria said Moncada didn’t go all-out to the plate, thinking Andrus, fielding Jose Abreu’s sharp grounder to his right, was conceding the run and throwing to first. “If you’re asking me if he gave his best effort, no he did not,” Renteria said.1 point

Some nice words for Ozzie Guillen and Kenny Williams in this article on how Escobar got started with Sox. https://www.twincities.com/2018/06/30/twins-eduardo-escobar-has-turned-into-ozzie-guillens-greatest-discovery/1 point

Paul Sullivan wrote a column about the White Sox this past Friday. He's not impressed with this rebuild/tanking/throwing up the white flag. He seems to think that this team might not be good until 2021 or maybe even 2022. I hope he's wrong about the time table. If he's right about 2021/2022 will anybody even care about this team at that time?. The 2018 attendance is down 20% from 2017. JR was suppose to be opposed to this rebuild for a long time because he thought it might destroy the franchise. I can't help but wonder if that is going to happen.1 point

Reddy I think you're wrong. Bernie did way better in places like IA, MI, WI, CO and other states in Middle America. Hillary did better in urban areas with a large minority population. The economic message works better in more rural areas and the social message works better in urban areas. If you can't win a district going "full progressive" so to speak that is a heavily red district anyway and you're not going to change those people's fragile little minds. I'd argue going "full progressive" is the way to win deep purple areas, and the mainstream message is just throwing away purple districts to the GOP.1 point

I'm only slightly concerned about Moncada because he's not flirting with Mendoza. It could be much worse. Go ask Twins fans how they feel about Buxton and that will make you feel much better. Look up Buxton's numbers for his career and 2015, 16 and 18 and you'll suddenly look at this in a new light. Buxton was also the consensus #1 heading into 2015.1 point

Nice thread Ron! God knows this board could use some optimism right now! Here are 10 things that got me excited: Tim Anderson’s improving patience (7.4% BB rate vs. 2.1% last year) Jace Fry becoming a bonafide stud reliever (11.6 K/9 & 2.17 FIP) Dylan Cease taking that next step towards becoming a TOR starter The pending addition of Nick Madrigal to Winston Salem Lopez being a badass motherfucker with giant ass balls Luis Robert’s insane tools being as good as advertised Giolito’s velocity & command gradually starting to return The crazy amount of outfield & pitching depth throughout the minors A future bullpen with Zack Burdi, Ian Hamilton, & Tyler Johnson in it Eloy fucking Jimenez1 point

Looks like Sox signed Braves 2016 3rd rounder (80th pick overall) Drew Harrington. Doesn't look too impressive as a starter prospect, but if he fails as a starter with the Sox, I think he's still worth following as a lefty reliever guy. https://www.talkingchop.com/2016/6/10/11904246/2016-mlb-draft-braves-select-drew-harrington-with-80th-overall-pick1 point

I would really hate to see Yolmer traded but if a team makes an offer headlined by a top 75 prospect it would be hard for me to argue against it. And I consider myself to be a pretty big fan of Yolmer.1 point

The minor league systems are looking very promising. I don't get how people can't be slightly optimistic about what they have you going down there. Big time outfield and infield depth, ace potential starters + solid back and starters, and some big time relief prospects.1 point

I already said I will definitely revel in the joy when we hit the WS years. I have that right as a longtime fan. Just cause I'm a critical fan doesn't mean squat. Just as I have no say in the rebuild I had no say in the way we won it in 05. But I can take part in both parades. And I was never a critical fan until this crap. Many of you were Ozzie haters and talked down on the players you wanted to get rid of. Same thing. The few of us who hate the rebuild can say the same about those who despised Ozzie and Dye and Garland, etc.1 point

No way Boston makes this trade. Sale has great stats and he's only 29 and they need the ace for the postseason. It would make a good article though and good examination. Because to the way many of our stat people on soxtalk think, Boston SHOULD make this trade immediately and that is a no brainer. Cause Sale is 29 which to the stat people is on the brink age wise of being very old (at least for hitters; maybe the stat people think pitchers can go longer) and those 2 prospects are considered anchors of WS teams. I say no way Boston would consider that trade but I'd like to hear from the stat people on this board cause if they are truthful they "might" say Boston SHOULD make that trade in a heartbeat.1 point

At least we can’t trade him for James Shields if we end up signing him.1 point
