Frank Thomas called out as ‘douchebag’ by ex-teammate in new book
Frank always seemed very committed to putting up excellent numbers and performing at a high level. Perhaps that gave him an arrogance that rubbed some teammates the wrong way. I, for one, wish any of our current players had that in them. Maybe TA at times. However in the multiple opportunities I've had to meet Frank, seen him interact with fans, and seen how he has tipped and rewarded support staff around him, he's been nothing less than a class act. I'll let this one pass the eye test and leave the gossip alone.

White Sox Mgr Speculation Thread
They're going to talk to Long on mlb network in a few minutes about tonight's game. For anyone interested in getting a feel for the guy.

Your 2023 Off-Season Plan
I have issues with a metric that tells me Leury Garcia is better than anyone.

Your 2023 Off-Season Plan
Marte's 2021 was pretty on point compared with Tim's. That being said I was pretty soured by TA's behavior this year, namely personal distractions and on the field that double header in Cleveland. If this team underperformed with a lack of leadership he could shoulder some of that blame. Anyway it's a moot point because they'll never trade him. Just food for thought.

Your 2023 Off-Season Plan
If they really wanted to shake things up and show this roster they mean business trade TA. Send him to Arizona for Ketel Marte who seems like he could use a change of scenery. Go sign Benintendi and give Andrus a 1 year deal to be the bridge to Montgomery. Marte, Benintendi, Vaughn, Eloy, Moncada, Robert, Grandal, Pollock, Andrus would sit nicely with me until Colas is ready. Sign a few vets to give the starting staff some depth and I'd be optimistic. But that would be ballsy for this organization so it won't happen. You're probably closer than I am.

White Sox Mgr Speculation Thread
I thought it was obvious I was talking about the organization in general. We don't need someone bringing "swag" we need someone who can gets these clowns to work hard and earn that swagger. I love Willie, but he's not the guy and that's not that attitude we need. If anything we need some humility.

White Sox Mgr Speculation Thread
Yeah no.....hard pass. Save the swag until you win something. Until then put your head down and run.

LaRussa retiring on Monday
This is all great but I'm already terrified about what comes next. How worried should we be about Willie Harris?

Will "core" players be traded before Spring Training?
What they should do is say goodbye to Abreu and trade Anderson with a throw in salary dump. What they will do is trade Vaughn and re-sign Abreu because White Sox.

Admitting a Wrong: Kenny Williams vs Rick Hahn
Absolutely, he definitely was around in the Schueler era and a part of the talent that was brought in. But that doesn't change the fact that the cupboard was bare when Hahn took over after 12 years of KW. Williams always stuck me as someone who favored "athletics" over baseball acumen. Jared Mitchell immediately jumps to mind along with Keenyn walker. Both Hahn and Williams have skills in areas that can contribute to success but I agree with the assessment somebody made about KW as a grade C gm and Hahn as an F. Regardless they've both been around faaaar too long.

Who is buying/renewing tix for 2023?
Nay. Told them why. Will go to the opener per usual but any additional will be condional on the effort. And by effort I mean players, staff and front office becausee I saw none this year.

Admitting a Wrong: Kenny Williams vs Rick Hahn
Something to remember is Kenny Williams inherited a wonderful farm system constructed by Ron Schueler. Kenny utilized that to its fullest and while I appreciated him putting competitive teams on the field constantly, his neglect of the farm system (or mismanagement) led to a lot of the problems after he moved upward.

Mark Gonzales wonders what is next?...
Everybody here knows what should happen. Everybody here knows it won't. And Everybody here will have to sit and watch and hope Hahn magically changes his approach after 10 years of being the worst GM in baseball.

Mark Gonzales wonders what is next?...
Problem is with the current front office I'd have no hope in a rebuild. It'd just be more bad baseball but cheaper.
-
Your 2023 Off-Season Plan
Eloy needs to be full time DH and Vaughn full time 1b. Give Jose a heartfelt thank you but it's time to transition. Sign a real right fielder as well and let Pollock fill in as needed for depth. Benintendi by himself not difference maker but a good piece if you're making a few moves.
-
Your 2023 Off-Season Plan
Any chance in hell they go after Benintendi? Seems to make a lot of sense but we all know how much that means.

Mark Gonzales wonders what is next?...
In a word......No

This group of players has quit and is not playing hard anymore
Perhaps the most frustrating part of this season was the fans calling out this team very early, and the front office, broadcast booth, and a good portion of the media told us to "calm down, they'll be fine."
-
The White Sox cannot be fixed by next season
They can NOT rebuild yet again. There is no way in blue hell that talent evaluation would change enough, even with a front office overhaul, that another rebuild would work out better. And even the casual fans of this organization are beginning to tire of all this. Change the attitude and approach by reworking this roster. I'm all for trading TA, maybe throwing in a salary dump with him for a solid 2nd baseman. Let Elvis play short for a season, sign a Nimmo type and tinker here and there. Yes, I'm well aware they'll be their usual dumpster diving selves, but the thought of blowing it up again and waiting another 2 or 3 years to compete again is too much even for a lifer like myself.

In their own words...
Being there tonight, even as they tied it in the tenth I wasn't happy. I still knew what was coming. I keep coming back to that double header against Cleveland week 2. Where TA had a few awful errors and Dallas got lit up and they got swept.....that's who they are. A cocky team who thinks they can throw their glove on the field and the Win will be handed to them. Normally a conscious manager can identify this and work to correct it. But from the poor roster construction, to the awful manager, to the entitled players it was a perfect storm which lead to the least enjoyable season I can remember.

9/20 Sox vs Cleveland
Copy that. Looked like a few to Seby were pretty enticing

9/20 Sox vs Cleveland
At the game so not always easy to tell, but sure seems like Civale is hanging a lot of pitches.

TLR out for the year
Only me and Travis Hafner know the answer to that question...

TLR out for the year
I've played on teams where bad managers are making bad decisions and yes, everyone knows it and it brings everyone down. That being said you're right, it seemingly effecting them this much is quite alarming.

9/6 Sox @ Mariners GT, 8:40PM CT, NBCSC
The approach with runners in scoring position is just horrid. It's like they turn off their brains at the worst moments.
