  1. Off topic, but I gotta grudgingly give Katz some credit for how these dumpster pickups have taken the ball without embarrassing the team.
  2. Where was this when Cease was blowing 6 run leads? Still, a great game to watch especially the mighty HR. Serves them right for having weird dimensions.
  3. They spent the majority of this season proving that money can't fix a bullpen.
  4. Grifol's at fault. Gets on the bullpen phone and asks for Mariano and they keep sending Bummer. Or worse. ?
  5. Great stuff. Somebody is gonna turn him around, but not without changing his pitching motion. Prolly not here.
  6. Rent don't buy. And I'll help him pack. New blood, new ideas. Might work wonders, might not, but at least it's not the same old same old. We're gonna need patience. Don't expect to compete next year. Don't worry about Jerry. This will cost him less than washed up eight digit guys. He'll be in hog heaven.
  7. Montreal White Sox. Has a certain ring to it. ? How come no one mentions the Brewers acting like they have Milwaukee by the unmentionables? And of course Jerry just buying land on the near west side? He's not moving the Sox to another city. If he did he'd have to sell the Bulls who are a cash cow and he's not selling the Bulls. He only tried to move them once, unlike our hero Veeck, who tried to move them twice. It'll keep us interested over the long winter and that's good.
  8. Not a lot to choose between these bozos and the starting pitchers who pissed the season away.
  9. He wasn't shy about spending far too much on bad bullpen guys. Something's wrong here. Best thing I can say for Tanner Banks as a closer is that he didn't look afraid to throw the ball.
  10. Easy to make the wrong move when there's no right move among the bozos you have to choose from.
  11. SSHM, I appreciate your statistical posts and the hard work that goes into them. Thanks. Seriously.
  12. This wisdom appears around here every few years and he never sells the team. Gotta be right sometime, law of averages or something like that.
  13. Kopeck: The least valuable coin of Imperial Russia. 1/100 of a ruble. Kopek (French): Something of little value. Colas reminds me of Colace, a stool softener medication, if you don't know it.
  14. Back to AAA where he had some success to get his confidence back. It's Getz, all right. Might help, might not. Either way the Earth will keep spinning on its axis.
  15. Not a bad way to use Santos to get him back some confidence in G1. Who to blame?
  16. This is for just after a match and just before dancing the night away with the dollies (Polish barmaids). Just for the record, these bozos they’re sending to the mound are better than the starters they began the season with.
  17. What Graveman should have been and on the cheap. Too late to matter.
  18. If Hendriks is himself, he saves 20 of those blown saves and the Sox win those games. Where does that put the team's record under Grifol? At least you mentioned him which correctly places the blame for 20 or so losses. Not that I think Grifol is any good, but the bullpen is making him look bad, not the other way around.
  19. The sign came down when the Cubs complained so don't make a federal case out of it. Besides, the south side allows billboards too (other than Lerner and Rowe), so they were just asking for trouble.
  20. He wanted to put in Mariano Rivera but he's not on the team. Dumb manager.?
  21. There was a time when they started sitting on his changeup and he began to use the slider more, with success.
  22. You look at the bullpen and come up with better choices than him. News Flash: They all suck. Not that I don't agree with you otherwise.
  23. The 10 game streak was a sign to me that he'd already lost them. Fast worker.
  24. Katz may know the mechanics of throwing a baseball but not much else about the game. The walk rate of our pitchers doesn’t say a lot for his coaching. But he does appear about 20 pounds lighter as a result of his frequent trips to the mound. Time for a change.
