  1. This post is interesting. I can't recall ever piling on any poster or come close to insulting any poster. A few posters engage and I enjoy reading their takes, especially if their takes are at least 2-3 paragraphs rather than a one-line zinger putting me in my place so to speak. I try to remain respectful at all times. I can't imagine anybody disagreeing with that statement.
  2. Tim Anderson is 6-1 185 with a good arm; Manny Sanguillen was 6-foot, 193 with a good arm. Our catcher position has been awful since Pudge Fisk (6-3, 200). Shortstop is much easier to replace. I stand by my desire back then to move Timmy to catcher. I'm sure if we found the original thread I have a lot of caveats in my post. I'm sure it's being taken out of context as most of my posts of the controversial variety are. Peace. p.s. A lot of Sox fans considered TA a liability at SS when he was making those errors earlier this season. Find those threads too. (I think he's a fine SS and excellent hitter and I never jumped on him for those errors. But we fail to single out those who made ridiculous statements during TA's defensive slump, just me; rest assured I saw them).
  3. I see the guy the Sox brought up tonight did get a hit but whiffed three times. I forget his name and too tired to look it up.

Good. I'm glad. I don't want harm to befall anybody on this board, including mods. I was in Chicago five nights in March and stayed downtown. I must acknowledge I was intrigued, not scared, on two occasions. On one, I was walking with a guy into a parking garage downtown about 10 p.m. and briefly wondered if it was smart to be walking down a staircase with several levels. Woulda been a good spot to get slugged/mugged. ... One night about 9 or so I was alone and starving after working and walked a few blocks to get a couple slices. Was a bit concerned that somebody might pull up and ambush me walking alone down there. Personally I think there's some luck involved/wrong place/wrong time type deal. Also the weather was drizzly and fricking cold and I think that gave me confidence any muggers might wait til the weather got a bit better to do their thing.
  5. I forget now if I did or not. I'm a believer in 'change of scenery' so my concern wasn't so much how he was doing but his history as a guy with ring(s). I salivate at acquiring somebody with leadership skill on a bizarre team like the Sox.
  6. My bad. I thought you were blasting me. I was wrong on this one apparently but I stlll say it'd be nice to have another guy with respect in the clubhouse who has won the big prize. Sort of like the Zobrist role. But apparently Cain even thinks he's finished so once again, I whiff on the argument, yet I contend the Sox also whiff a lot so no biggie. At least I try to contribute to discussions. Not all of my points are dismissable.
  7. OK, Pollock is good; Cain bad. I will root harder for Pollock. If he's red hot, good for the Sox and us fans. Like I said I appaarently whiffed on this one. Sorry to waste 1/100th of people's days the last two days. You wasted 1/100th of mine making sure I spelled Pollock right and you wrong. Peace.
  8. The guy got released yesterday; actual topic. So what if I swing and missed; the Sox do it all the time. I value winners; all those ripping me obviously are going by his stats which is fine. I still believe in change of scenery and doing something out of the ordinary besides fire the manager (which also WILL NEVER HAPPEN with the Sox yet was discussed here). A judge would probably say I whiffed badly. So what? That and 2.50 will get me my usual Starbucks or Dunkin coffee. Life goes on. Sox whiff all the time. If I whiffed, bad on me.
  9. Heaven forbid we discuss things on here. If I whiffed I whiffed. Life goes on as does the season. Go Sox.
  10. If he's done he's done. On to the next guy.

Love me some Bernie. Here's his Tweet from an hour ago. ... "$2.5 billion in federal funding went to Moderna. The company’s CEO then received a $926 million golden parachute. Does that make any sense to you?" Hope Bernie continues the attack, but I'm sure the right government officials are getting paid off and are in the corner of big pharm and will let big pharm do whatever it wants. It's disgraceful how much government money is floating around in the wrong hands. How much is an aspirin in a hospital these days? Couple hundred?

I meant west side of chicago, sorry. He said in the day you probably won't get beaten or mugged but at night only the bravest of the brave show their faces anywhere outside of work. As a firefighter he asked to be placed in a firehouse in one of the high active neighborhoods with the most fires to do the most good. He decided to get a place near work but will be moving out cause he's worried about his new girlfriend living there and they will live together somewhere he deems safer.
  13. With all the automatic outs in the Sox lineup the past few seasons, I figured it would do no harm and perhaps some good to add a guy who has won. Just one I wanted the Sox to do something opposite of what they normally do. I give them credit for Vaughn, but many of the Sox moves involve adding automatic outs or horrible pitchers to the mix.

I find it hard to understand how Americans can be so different. I am 100 percent worried about the carjacking problem and unabashed violence in cities and now suburbs. I personally find it impossible to believe you guys aren't concerned seemingly at all. It just shows the amazing divide in America and how the country probably really does need to split into several different countries. We are that different. p.s. Another cousin of mine is abandoning Chicago. He and his wife are heading to Texas. Both are teachers and both are sick of the taxes, poor leadership in government and crime. I also have cousins who have headed to Arizona and Tennessee respectively and one great friend and his wife wanting out to San Diego if his adult daughter can get her life together so he can leave her. He is a very intelligent rich man having been one of the heads of the Fed in downtown Chicago. ... Also my nephew the firefighter in west chicago says the neighborhood is one big drug infested crime infested mess.

If you don't think this is a major problem ... wow.
  16. I just wanted to try something different. Clearly Cain is a leader type. Clearly he knows the Central. Clearly he needs a change of scenery. If he's finished, fine. He can't hit any worse than a Grandal in the .100s. ... But if I'm so wrong, fine. Forget I brought it up. Cain blows. OK.
  17. Hassely is the same ol thing the Sox do. Former No. 1 pick somewhere else. He ain't gonna hit. You heard it here first. Why not try something different and acquire a proven winner in Cain. To his performance to date I say this: Change.Of.Scenery. Just try it. Only negative I feel is I think he's torn his hammy in the past as well. He'd fit in well here as a potential IL guy possibly. ... Why do peeps always want the same scenario? Try this we might like it.
  18. Seven innings of excellence by Cueto. I'll take it. W.

Surprised you have that take. It's easy to just point the gas hose at them and drench them with fuel.
  20. My positive post: Of all of our fill in, super subs, I kind of like Mendick. Also Vaughn is pretty good hitter. Another Positive post: Basically the Sox win as many games as they lose so that means we Sox fans are happy 50 percent of the time. And a non Sox positive note: Likeable Yermin ... I hope he gets called up by SF soon to see if he's got anything. Hope he gets a chance again.
  21. Here's a guy the Sox should sign for the rest of this season. Lorenzo Cain has been DFA'ed by Milwaukee. The Sox appear dead most of the time. The Sox have at bats available. This guy has played for winning teams. If nothing else, he'd help the Sox win Central Division games, especially against the Royals. The Sox are in a stretch they pick up stiffs like Harrison and Pollock, bunch of guys like that in the past. Why not try something different and pick up a guy who "could" conceivably spark the team, get hot and lead an injured Sox team forward. Before you dismiss it, why not try the Costanza method? Do the opposite of what the Sox normally do. Pick up Cain and release Pollock ... NOW. Do you agree or not? I want Cain.

it would be nice if some of these carjackings ended in the robbers being shot in a certain area of the body to maybe make them think twice about carjacking since the DAs usually let the crooks back on the street. Appalling ... https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8612317/Cook-County-prosecutor-Kim-Foxx-dismissed-25-000-felony-cases-including-Jussie-Smollett.html
  23. Nice win. Good to see a starter go 7 innings. That had to be the first time all season a guy went 7. Maybe one other time? 12 hits is good. Thankfully Robert and Abreu's shots past third for 2 RBI apiece were fair by a foot. If those are the usual foul balls this team hits it might be a different game. Beautiful blowout win. Very surprising to me.

The new thing is attacking you then stealing your car at the gas pump. Be aware of surroundings; pump quickly and get out. With DA's letting these guys back on the streets, Americans have to protect themselves. If this stuff continues, everybody needs weapons. Owe it to yourself and your family to stay alive. This incident is all over Twitter. Don't be afraid to use the pump to soak the perpetrators and their cars with gas as well. https://www.buckscountycouriertimes.com/story/news/crime/2022/06/16/3-charges-in-carjacking-in-warrington-attempt-in-doylestown-bucks-county-crime-gas-station-attacks/65361343007/ https://chicago.suntimes.com/2021/10/8/22704266/carjackings-carjacking-crisis-chicago-cook-county-sheriff-tom-dart-toyota-camry-sunday-worst-day https://www.fox29.com/news/chicagos-top-cop-says-60-percent-of-carjacking-suspects-are-juveniles
